I hate that feeling of knowing I need to do something and wanting to start, but actually doing it is like my body and mind are weighed down by concrete.

My best guess (not in the community or anything) is that leather does better at being durable—especially if you treat it well and condition it regularly?—than cloth and plastic-leather alternatives, which break down. I know leather is meant to be very durable and have good “properties,” but I can’t be specific.

I built one of these a couple weekends back and have been blissfully extracting ROMs from my cartridge collection since then. I love it so much, and it's a really solid design!

If not experiencing those things would dramatically make your life better, might go see a psychiatrist about evaluation?

I only care if the new guy gives me back the content I paid for when the game first came out.

I think once I accidentally made a microblog when I meant to start a thread in a magazine? It felt super vague and I basically haven’t bothered making too-level posts since. I just lurk and post snark.

Shocked, but thrilled. But also VERY shocked. But in a good way.

What a horrible parry input!

I definitely gave up on many subs over the years because apparently I couldn’t figure out how to post just the right way to not get auto-moderated. Can’t use X-word, or post included a link or whatever. Too many rules, and I gave up.

My dude, eat some fiber, quick! Also drink water!

Edit: I saw the origin, and I was incorrect about the not pooping. I had assumed it was a problem, not a goal… and now I’m VERY confused and maybe a little concerned.

Would’ve loved if Horizon Zero Dawn on PC came with a manual I could read while it compiled shaders…

I’ve been suspicious that newer production lines for joysticks have been cutting costs in cheaper materials for a while now. I usually replace the joysticks when they drift, but I’m also quite comfortable to taking things apart and fixing them.

I remember my old PS2 controllers never drifted and that was back when I played hard on them every day after school. These days I hardly have time to play during the week, and they regularly go bad within a year or two.

I’ve been replaying Dragon Quest 8 (PS2) on my Steam Deck, and it just fills me with joy. Except for the absolutely bonkers choices they hardcoded for buttons and camera movement. Ah, good times.

Weirdly, I had the opposite reaction—I was happy to find that the combat was more straightforward than most action RPGs! Just attack, magic, dodge to start. No secret hidden combos or abilities that change per weapon. (Though you do unlock fancier skills, more like the Yakuza games; but I like unlocking them slowly rather than discovering them by reading online guides like with Dark Souls…)

I’m with you for 3DS. Vita was kind of a dead gen for me at the time—what are some of your favorites?

I had considered running a DIY for years, and eventually just caved and bought a Synology 1522+ NAS. It lets me run my Plex server and Matrix server, and it just handles all the config and updates for me easily.

The decision was that I wanted to backup my hobbies, not have backup BE my hobby.

Gotta use the hammer on them lil guys. They hurts the feets if you jomp

I like the gameplay of Diablo4, but the environments and world are just so BLEAK… it’s hard for me to want to keep spending time in the world. I feel like the previous 3 games were a lot more hopeful, with towns that had people just living their lives, not too worried about things.

D4, it’s like everyone is oppressed and depressed and just barely scraping by to survive, and just… I feel sad any time I think about going back in.

It was even better before they ditched streaming through GeForce Experience or whatever. Moonlight + Sunshine work, but I’ve never felt like there was a good Sunshine configuration tool, and adding games manually has always been too much of a pain for me to bother with.

I don’t think a game engine needs feature parity with Unreal, it just needs to be easier to get in and make something. The learning curve with Unreal is very steep and Unity’s has historically been… well, less steep (arguably?).

Unity has other problems to solve for though. Like undoing the damage from their ex-CEO.

As long as the younger generation taking over are well versed in the history of the series and in touch with what people have loved over the years to not run off into another FF13 or FF15 (before they started damage control before release to shoehorn in a single “moogle”)?

That said, I think what I really want is a game run by someone at the top with an epic vision for the experience who can make sure everything from combat to mini games are feeding into the grand scheme of the game.

To clarify, running Plex is easy; running Matrix is very NOT easy… But being a NAS was the easiest part, by far. Stick the drives in, turn on, follow the short manual that came with it to configure, and let it do its thing.

Wasn’t PoE exactly this, but for Diablo 3? Apparently the Diablo series just spawns community-built competitors each generation now?
