Instant eyeroll when I got to 'blockchain'.

I don't even understand the problem they are trying to solve? The only way we are 'second-class citizens' is how the reddit admins treat their users.

Yeh I support LGBT...

Landlords

GOP

Billionaires

The police

😎

People say negative things about that? That's crazy, people are judgmental about stupid shit.

As a CSA survivor, who had images taken of me while I was abused... Fuck you.

People wanting to possess it is exactly what encourages people to produce the material. If you let people possess it with no consequences you will let the demand shoot up and basic economics should tell you what happens next with the supply part.

That is disgusting. Seriously. You should feel ashamed of yourself.

If I install solar panels and the inverters incorrectly I could potentially harm or kill myself and others. Therefore solar isn't safe.

That's not a Ponzi scheme. Sorry, but this misuse of the term really grinds my gears.

A Ponzi scheme is a specific scam promoted as an investment, but in reality the payouts made to early victims come from the incoming money paid by new investors.

Thank you for your riveting analysis. CNN will be calling soon to get you on I'm sure.

Hush, your ruining the narrative.

So glad we don't have this shit in Australia lol

This sort of thing has always happened.

I do find it particularly infuriating when it's a topic I'm knowledgeable in/involves my profession. But then I remember most people are stupid and it doesn't bother me too much.

I love that show, and Naked Gun. So funny 😂

The article says it was shutdown in June 2020, a few months after it started. Is that inaccurate?

I'm not so sure. Large lobbies have greater economic power than us average people, but they aren't strong enough to defy macroeconomic trends. There are many factors that could turn and cause prices to collapse, we just don't know when or if they will occur.

Depends on the system. In Australia undervoting can invalidate your vote.

Because you're north looking south.

This is a really shitty way to express your disagreement.

And the fragmentation is definitely an issue worth discussing. It's a lot more prominent here, in my opinion, than reddit, and that could discourage potential users.

I find this really hard to believe. I like going in to work, but I don't work in a standard office (engineer on industrial site). If I were to be working in an office all day though, no way would I prefer that to home.

Nothing happened because a lot of effort was put into changing vulnerable systems.

I am old enough to remember Y2K. The media definitely stirred some people up about it, in my experience most people seemed to not be too worried about it.

But we shouldn't dismiss the hard work that a lot of people did to upgrade or redesign systems that Y2K could have affected.

As a aside, I remember that when the clock struck midnight at the NYE party I was at someone flipped the circuit breaker for the house as a joke, turning out all the lights. I remember a few people gasping and wondering what the hell was going on for a few moments until the lights came back on and the prankster revealed himself. Was pretty funny at the time 🤣

Lol, Lemmy is still small enough that I know the thread you are talking about. It was a political discussion, yeh?

If I remember right most of the people who argued with you were from hexbear, which tracks lol.

Ah yes, once someone dies we are no longer allowed to listen to their music do you'll be safe now.

But it says they are struggling with fractions and exponents, don't those get taught earlier on?

I usually think a lot of comments on here are over the top, but this one wasn't that bad. Big companies get subsidies way too often.

I want to re-watch Sliders.

Yes, but you might be more likely to be targeted by thieves who don't know the difference.

He hasn't been sentenced or convicted yet.

Reddit is fine if you only look at user numbers.

If you consider things like overall satisfaction with the site and profitability though, they are in trouble. That's why they are introducing that embarrassing crypto shit, they are desperate to somehow monetize the site.

That's a nice pipedream, but why would airlines move to this system? They seem perfectly happy with the current system where you have to pay to change anything.

And the game thing doesn't make sense. If the game shuts down, where are you going to use your NFT? There's a few crappy crypto games that have tried making it so items are transferable, but for larger games it sounds like a nightmare to implement.

NFTs are like crypto, a solution in search of a problem. I'll be honest, I'm anti-crypto and NFTs, but if a valid usecase presented itself I'd be happy to be wrong. I just haven't seen it yet.

Lol yeh a surprising amount of people believe in it.

I once trained to work in pharmacies, we had companies present on their products and one of them was selling homeopathic products. One of the other students asked if it actually worked and the rep's response was 'if it didn't do you think people would buy it?' I didn't say anything but I thought to myself yes, there absolutely are people who hand over money for dumb shit that doesn't work lol.

I can understand the plagiarism argument, though you have to extend the definition of it. If I am expected to write an essay, but I use ChatGPT instead, then I am fraudulently presenting the work as my own. Plagiarism might not be the right word, or maybe it's a case where language is going to evolve so that plagiarism includes passing off AI generated work as your own. Either way it's cheating unless I was specifically allowed to use AI.

Can you not read lol, it says the user viewing the profiles is blocked.

Does CSS carry over to the official reddit app?

Murder laws can vary by country.

She murdered two people with the intent to at least cause significant harm. That's enough on the state she was in, thank God. She deserves life in prison.

Yeh they are, it seems like now it's the dumbest of the dumbest holding on.

Uh... What?

You are reading too much into their comment. It's OK to ask how you would implement it.

I just read a news article this week about a young Australian man on vacation in Indonesia who got in an accident. His family now face costs of around $350,000 because his insurance didn't cover riding motorized scooters.

I think travel insurance is generally wise to have, and to be aware of what you are covered for. This is an example both of the potential costs and how if you don't read your policy carefully they will fuck you over.

It seems like everyone is getting different results, some get what the post claims while others are getting the actual answer.

I don't know about launching in new countries, but a lot of the new subscribers were added in countries where Netflix is cheaper so while they did add a lot of subscribers the revenue increase wasn't large.

It's not because they want to nanny you, it's because they can't afford the legal fees.

This is going to be a problem for any instance that gets big enough to be noticed by copyright holders or law enforcement. The legal issues will start to pile up.
