It’s rich kids living off of daddy’s money i.e. trust fund babies (trust funds are their own separate thing but you can look that up). It’s not like these people were working as a food server then one day decided to travel the world and make videos about it. They needed a nice financial cushion in order to do that. There are exceptions, but it takes a lot of capital to start your own brand, promote it, pay for the traveling expenses, and somehow get a return.

The app worked, you got to know her true colors rather quickly. Imagine putting up with passive aggressive shit like that your whole life, or even for a night.

Open, to let my stupid cat out otherwise he cries.

(I love him)

I’m fine with them, except for this one

The super rich are usually highly educated but they live in such a homogenous bubble that they’re opinions on the majority of society should be entirely discounted. They usually have a total lack of empathy for people and vote for politicians with the same attitude. I have met some super rich people who try very hard to go against the grain and not fall into that mindset, but something about the need for protecting your money and lifestyle usually promotes an untrustworthy and skeptical view of everyone in their lives including their own family.

Then it should be even easier to unionize

Don’t most plants sense light and interact with their environment?

Tardigrades have been observed reacting defensively to danger, even offensively. I know they’re not plants, but do they feel pain? What about brine shrimp?

Jellyfish are super weird because they really blur the lines between plant/animal. It’s a really interesting question to ask honestly.

Yeah, great, build housing. Minimize commuting, minimize pollution, maximize autonomy, maximize bathrobe sales.

Writing a paragraph about why you want to join isn’t necessarily a great vetting process though

The dev.

That was the vitamin E acetate shenanigans from a few years ago that people were cutting with THC concentrate to make it look thicker/more quality than it actually was. Huge disinformation campaign somehow made nicotine vapes the bad guy even though it was entirely unrelated

That’s a fucking cute as hell illustration. I’d wear that

I got to work on the set of Inception! It was super cool, hung around Ken Watanabe and flew Leo to set. His mom was in the trailer with him

She’s going to seek this stuff out and the algorithm will keep feeding her. This isn’t just a YouTube problem, this is also a mom problem.

Ugh that scene TFA derailed it in microseconds. So much stupid hand waving by JJ. That movie started on such a high note, then every minute following the opening act was like watching a bouncy house slowly deflate.

Endless fun.

I got a nice hit:

Historical questions and answers to common problems, it’ll take about a decade for Lemmy to catch up. I work in IT and it’s saved my ass quite a few times

As someone who is contemplating becoming a parent soon, what’s a good solution to managing screen time? I’m an IT guy so managing their devices will be standardized, but ethically I’m a bit worried about going too far with it. I really want my kids to grow up being creative and a bit bored sometimes so they have to make their own fun, but I also want them to game a bit like when I was a kid. It’s going to take quite a bit of work to restrict access to certain services at certain times of day, plus I’m considering absolutely no social media until they’re in high school but I’m worried that it’ll make them rebel and get desperate

Effectively migrating entire subs is an excellent strategy

Honestly it was classical. I had a music appreciation class in high school and the teacher was incredible, ended up being a step by step historical analysis of how music changed over the years and how it’s all connected from Ancient Greece all the way to Tupac. I truly believe that there isn’t another musical genre that has the ability to capture such a wide range of emotions with such pinpoint accuracy as classical music without having to rely on any lyrics to explain what’s going on. What would the musical equivalent of falling down the steps sound like? Losing a loved one? Getting lost in the Sahara? Riding a bike through Paris in 1925? Traveling to different planets? It made me realize how limited other genres are because they’re so stuck in their own mold and can barely wiggle out of the predefined standards of what that genre requires. It doesn’t make that music any less important, but it’s interesting to think about.

In some ways yes but it can have the opposite effect too. I know lots of left leaning people who grew up in super religious/conservative families and hate everything about their beliefs.

There’s also the benefit of discussion. You can find perspective on information which is arguably just as valuable as the information itself. Wisdom isn’t just knowing the facts but understanding them in practice and in proximity to other facts.

A. They have a live orchestra performing quite a bit of the score, like old Trek. Makes a difference

B. They’re having fun

C. The characters work

D. Pike is sexy af

It’s a great Trek show.

Oof, going way back here. The first time I fell in love? It was insane. I was 16 and so was she. It was crazy stupid love. So much passion, but it was ugly too. My favorite part was losing my virginity to someone I cared for deeply and visa versa, second favorite part was finally getting over her years after the breakup. It was an awful one, embarrassing and cringe inducing in a lot of ways, but it also made me a better person. Wouldnt give all that happiness and pain up in a million years, and this is 25 years later.

Punks, trans persons, furries, chronic masturbators, anime enthusiasts, metal heads, antisocial gamers, and other generally well to do groups are usually the foundational prerequisites for starting large communities

There are still great avenues to search for niche tech issues other than Reddit. Spiceworks, LTT, Lawrence Systems - I usually have better results there. Reddits tech solutions are usually closer to an ELI5, but the other tech avenues are better for the tech-literate

I have perfect pitch meaning I can hear a note and be able to tell you witch note it is and at which octave

And then a year goes by and you still can’t remember, so you give up and just say “hey there”

Man I have great memories sitting at my dad’s Packard Bell in the mid nineties watch the data stream in from other worlds

From what I see on Local we are

Trans Old Young Gay Straight Nerds Furries Porno addicts

Also the amount of work that it puts on IT, implementing new tech and not providing/approving the training (which only goes so far)

Man that is so amazingly clean for AI, really scary

Anyone remember OnLive?

This is the answer, dongle love all the way!

My sysadmin brain just exploded

Sure, but that’s not the responsibility of the library in question. This article is great, an obvious victim and an obvious villain for easy consumption and allegiance, but there’s definitely more to the story. If the homeless are making the lives of the library staff a living hell then I don’t see a problem with this honestly.
