What happened to white women? Well, she ran for office and you claimed she was unfit for office because women are emotionally unstable and something about emails that magically disappeared as soon as Ivanka got caught ACTUALLY deleting emails.

"If you’re trying to reach senior decision makers, if you want to reach the most influential people in the world," Musk told Read, "the X platform is by far the best."

Does someone want to break it to him that he's one of about 4 executives of a fortune 500 who spends any time on Twitter? The rest have PR people who might make a couple posts a month for them, but they sure as shit aren't wasting any time on it arguing with idiots and bots. They're busy flying around on private jets or playing golf when they aren't spending their 30 minutes a month working.

"Why would I vote for a primary party candidate who supports ranked choice voting when I can just throw my vote away on a third-party candidate that will never be elected? I've got principles!"

So, what he's saying is all of his spending so far has been personal attacks, and nothing of substance about policy? Because if you had been spending your money telling us all what you're planning on doing if you win, it wouldn't matter who you're running against. Oh, right, because your entire plan for presidency is project 2025 and anyone with 2 functioning brain cells thinks that plan is absolute fucking insanity, so you need to distract with personal attacks and red herrings.

Good point, I'm sure if we had Donald Trump in office, Israel would stop immediately. There's never been anybody tougher on Israel than Trump. For instance he... checks notes... moved our Embassy to Jerusalem after decades of US presidents refusing to do so and single-handedly set peace negotiations back 50 years.

But I guess when your entire post history is ripping Biden on the Israel situation you can't really do much else or the boss won't pay you.

My .02? There's a large swath of "conservative" women who like the idea of going to church, being a stay-at-home mom, and having a husband that goes to work every day and provides for them. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that life.

But what they found out is the guys espousing that lifestyle actually want to treat their wife as property. There was a solid 30 years of momentum building around "maybe I don't want to have a two-income household, maybe I just want to be a mom". Unfortunately, while the women were thinking "we're partners in this household, I take care of the meals and the kids, you take care of making money" - the dudes were thinking "I own you, you do what I want, I do what I want, if you talk back, I'll put you in your place".

I'm a republican, I was the throat goat until Ronnie made an honest(ish?) woman out of me. Now I assume all other women are ho's and make all my life decisions based on this false assumption.

See: welfare mother who keeps having kids to get rich??? or something?

After the civil war completes, Emperor Walz declares the entire nation will now be known as Minnesota in a show of unification to the rest of the world.

"I won't start a war with you, I'll just attack your country. As long as you don't fight back, it won't be a war."

In the meantime fuck diabetic people, am I right?

Student loan forgiveness with no other action is completely counter-productive. Just like allowing drug companies to charge anything they want for Insulin, and then just having the government pay them is completely counter-productive. The answer to spiraling insulin prices (when not due to a shortage of some key ingredient) is to cap prices, not just pay whatever ransom drug companies are asking.

College costs have spiraled out of control because laws were passed to prevent you from escaping student loan debt through bankruptcy. From a lender perspective there's almost no risk to giving students as much money as they want to borrow. Colleges in turn realized they could just keep raising prices because students could "afford" pretty much any tuition price through loans. If you just "forgive" all student loan debt, you'll just encourage colleges to jack up prices even more. Why not? Come one come all, the government is going to foot whatever the bill ends up being!

If you're going to forgive student debt, it needs to come with 3 things:

  • A hard cap on public university tuition tracking inflation

  • Student loans need to go back to being forgiven as a part of bankruptcy.

  • A long-term plan to make public universities "free"

You want to find a middle ground with conservatives? Make tuition free for the occupations we have a shortage of to encourage people to go to school for a degree in which there will be a job waiting when they're done.

We need more teachers? Teaching degrees are free for the next decade. You want to be a marine biologist? You pay whatever the (reasonable) capped state tuition is.

The fact you phrase it as though that's an actual question is terrifying. You're comparing someone who wants to LITERALLY be a dictator and never have an election again, to someone who isn't willing to fully embrace every last left-wing policy you demand.

The "ruling class" didn't dictate Bernie not getting the Democratic nomination, people voting in primaries did. Do you know which group of people overwhelmingly don't vote in primaries? The same 20-somethings bitching about Biden being the "only other option". Get the fuck out of here with your "demonstrating to the ruling class" - you had your opportunity to show up and overwhelm the primaries and chose not to. The "ruling class" don't have the numbers to determine a primary, and if you choose to watch their commercials and buy into it, that's on you. But hey, if a bunch of people think like you'll they'll find out what actually living in a dictatorship is like. And no, Canada isn't just going to welcome you with open arms when the world starts burning down around you so I hope you've got an exit strategy.

That would be more believable if he hadn't made enough money to retire 1,000 times over now. $500m? I think most people can't grasp how much money that is. Putting that money into a shitty high yield checking account would net him $21m in income a year. It is absurd how much money he has. If he wants to fuck off and do literally nothing for the rest of his life, he can still live like a god without spending a dime of what he's earned so far.

Don't disagree, but also curious why the same pundits aren't ripping apart Trump's senility? 30 seconds of watching a Daily Show weekly roundup will provide COUNTLESS examples of Trump rambling endlessly and forgetting what he was even talking about. Just because it wasn't as stark at the debate doesn't' mean it isn't happening. I'd also imagine that Trump was probably coked out of his mind at the debate after he spent weeks leading up to it claiming Biden would be on drugs. He has a well-documented history of projecting whatever he's doing wrong on his opposition.

a federal abortion ban as president, despite his statements denying support for these things

They straight up asked him the question, and he refused to answer it. So, she didn't tell a "half truth" - he literally refused to say he would veto a national ban when directly given the opportunity to do so.

As for project 2025, it's his playbook. Whether or not he will specifically call it that, doesn't change the fact it's how he wants to dismantle the federal government.

Yeah, but she's simultaneously so powerful that she convinced several elected officials in New York to risk prison time by attacking one of her political opponents in exchange for...? Nothing? And oh by the way, he wasn't her actual political opponent when the prosecution started, 4D chess over there.

But also so stupid she couldn't pass the bar exam and can't form a complete sentence without a teleprompter.

Get with it folks!

Is it more difficult to bring something into the country across the border, or to transport an item between two states?

If it isn’t obvious to you that only banning something on the state level is SIGNIFICANTLY less effective than nationally, I can only assume you’ve never actually left the country.

Go back to mother Russia. Just off the top of my head with 30 seconds of thinking about it and no research:

Obama: Implemented "Obamacare" allowing millions of Americans with pre-existing conditions to get affordable healthcare for the first time.

Biden: Limits on predatory interest rates across the board. Limited Insulin prices.

Both of them have actively gone after people and businesses ripping of medicare which universally helps the working class through better care and lower taxes.

But sure, they've done NOTHING for the working class.

They need to all be sat down and forced to watch The Handmaid's tale, with a constant reminder they won't be one of the rich wives.

I mean, the dude is nearly as addicted to social media as Musk so it's entirely possible he'll read their tweets. But take their advice? Yeah, no, the guy is a narcissist, he doesn't need advice from anyone.

Jill Stein doesn’t know how many members of the House there are in Congress. 600?!?!

There is a 100% chance that Trump couldn't name how many members there are in the house. I'd be shocked if he could list the branches of government without help.

note I'm not saying that's acceptable. But if that's your test for "is this a serious candidate" I hate to be the bearer of bad news...

"If I can't get universal healthcare, I'll vote for the end of all social services and democracy as we know it. That'll show em!"

Apparently states that do that are being naughty/cutting corners.

This is like the "millions of dead people voting". It's not a thing. There are no states that do this. There's no reason to, it takes days to print ballots, not 4 months.

I don't do ANYTHING on twitter other than occasionally click on a post by a local sports guy when I get a notification. Literally EVERYTHING else in my feed is right wing political non-sense. The extent of my interactions were hitting block early on, and when I realized that did nothing to give their "algorithm" a clue that I wasn't interested I just started ignoring it entirely.

That's because Facebook is selling your data and access to advertise to you. The better AI gets across the board, the more money they make. AI isn't the product, you are.

OpenAI makes money off selling AI to others. AI is the product, not you.

The fact facebook release more code, in this instance, isn't a good thing. It's a reminder how fucked we all are because they make so much off our personal data they can afford to give away literally BILLIONS of dollars in IP.

They'll be violating several of their own state laws, and federal law if they do so. I know it's easy to go with the "but Trump gets away with everything" - reality is our elections to date have been free and fair and there's no indication that's going to change. The folks that own the elections by and large actually care about democracy. His fake electors scheme failed for a reason, and it wasn't just dumb luck.

Biden is not a popular candidate and not who the Democratic party electorate necessarily wants: instead his whole candidacy and presidency has solely been not being Trump. This condition is fully transferrable to any candidate with support of the party.

Biden may not be a popular candidate on Lemmy, but he absolutely was prior to that debate showing with the general public. It turns out moderates and independents make up a large portion of the voting block and they aren't all drooling at the prospects of Bernie Sanders. They WANT a boring president.

While they suck horribly, also scalpers. I have almost no issue with a venue requiring a verified app and quite frankly picture ID to allow entry. But please figure out how to do it without giving ticketmaster a dime.

If shes so concerned about people turning on Biden, maybe she needs to head to the oval office and tell him to stop fucking funding and equiping a goddamn genocide.

Or, maybe, it's more complicated than that. MAYBE supporting Israel in the middle-east helps keep some semblance of stability in a region that would otherwise be constantly at war, with Iran in particular doing their best to take over all of their neighbors. That's ignoring the fact that unless you're advocating us going to war WITH Israel - the second we pull all funding we also lose all leverage we have with them, and I would expect an almost immediate expansion into all Palestinian territory overnight given their current leadership.

Is the situation fucked? Yes. Is it going to be fixed by pulling funding? Absolutely not.

Because the internet can't handle shades of gray? Perhaps there's more to her than "she's a liberal" or "she's a conservative"? Hive mind will be the end of society - if someone doesn't agree with the party line on EVERY point, they're suddenly an extremist.

Perhaps, PERHAPS there are people who are otherwise liberal that have some pretty strong feelings about the trans movement? Outside of the trans thing, Rowling is pretty liberal by the classic definition of the term based on everything I've seen. But because she's taken a stance here she's put in the same sentence as Musk and Rogan. I have a tough time taking anyone seriously that tries to make that comparison. Musk is literally defending fascists and Rogan regularly has Alex Jones on his show. She's not even on the same continent as those two.

Because yes, she literally made Dumbledore gay, which both Joe Rogan and Elon Musk would tell you makes her a woke libtard... but they're the same!!!!1111
