Just curious, why is an x86 architecture a sought after feature in your opinion? My understanding is that ARM is more ābang for your buckā in terms of computation effort to power draw.
I say this because my M2 (ARM based) MacBook does all sorts of heavy lifting and still lasts me more than a day on a single charge compared to my old Intel MacBook running the same services doing the exact same stuff.
Please correct me if I am wrong. I would really appreciate to learn more from people who have more knowledge than I am.
Where do people find equipment this cheap? Yaāll are mind blowing with your ability to score things for such low prices.
Any links?

Well, I donāt have TikTok and I didnāt shower, still worked just fine.
If anyone is looking for an arm64 build, feel free to use my docker images.
If you want to build it on your own otherwise, feel free to use the following script.
The plot thickens. Please make it stop!
+1 for Void Linux
Offering your opinion as an āactual argument with actual dataā and a link to amnesty international does NOT constitute a coherent, well formed argument.
Reporting me with āuncivil commentā only shows your evasiveness to real discourse and that you will try to silence and put down anyone that disagrees with because you have no real argument to offer.
Good luck in the real world buddy, youāll need it.
And Iāll give you $10 for it
I have a crappy old laptop and I wanted to extend its life and usability by installing a resource light OS on it. I decided on Void Linux and proceeded to try it out in a VM on my MacBook before I installed it on the potato laptop.
I know I could emulate it using UTM but I figured that attempting a chroot installation would be a nice learning experience. I also havenāt seen much guides on it online ā especially for aarch64 machines ā and figured I could contribute and fill some of the void (pun not intended but very welcome).
Thank you for your insight, I see your point.
Why do you say they abandoned desktop computers though? Arenāt they still designing and selling iMacs? Arenāt those considered desktop computers?
Iāve got a RaspberryPi 4B running dietpi and hosting plex with a debrid service. The setup is very flawless and easy to maintain.
Also very minimal footprint
My only problem with it is the developer disappeared for the longest time and it feels like it fell behind so many other apps.
I donāt know you, but I love you, complete random stranger. Thanks for the laugh š
Screeches in freedom eagles š¦ š¦ š¦
That is a great explanation. It makes perfect sense to me know. Thank you
Most of my services use a network mounted drive so storage isnāt really a factor (although the more the merrier of course).
My main bottleneck is computation power.
I donāt know about the EWaste part, I own a 2015 MacBook Pro and that thing is immortal! Still runs as smooth as the day I got it and itās seen a lot of abuse.
Donāt know of many other brands that have this type of longevity. Out of the many laptops and PCās that I owned, non lasted this long.
Doesnāt swap reduce the lifespan of storage though?
Can you please explain to me the difference? How does a swapdisk compare to RAM? I donāt mind googling it but I highly doubt Iāll get a straightforward ELI5 style answer from there.
I would really appreciate it if you can elaborate, if you have the time that is.
Thank you.

The setup seems quite beefy relative to anything I ever owned. I understand that my power bill will be more costly if I leave this running 24/7.
Compared to 4 RPiās running 24/7, how much more energy do you suppose Iāll be expending?
I ask because my basic understanding of electrical engineering states that my system will only draw as much power as it needs (not the full rated 650W), so Iām not really sure how that compares to all 4 RPiās running.
The dev is a human being with life outside of developing this app and there is no arguing that. All I simply stated is that it fell behind in development when compared to many other apps.
Do not misconstrue my words.
Lol š
How do you monitor your wattage?
As someone whoās homeland is also being forcefully taken from underneath us, I love that that.
Iāve been looking all over for something in that price range, where did you find them for those prices?
That looks very sexy, whatās the price range on those?
Bruh, I love you.
Thank you
At this price point, why are RPiās even a thing? Wow!
Valid point, I see where you are coming from.
Definitely not an argument against a specific point, but a generalization against an entire population. Pretty much ad hominem on a large scale.
What a bigot with no actual argument. Begone now and thank you š
