Well, the definitions aren't really all that helpful. 12pm is neither before nor after midday, while 12am is exactly 12 hours before and after midday.

Always enter and exit the US with your US passport. Not doing so is illegal.

For anything else, use your German passport, especially in the EU. That's what I have been doing for years.

I don't know if it is an issue for immigration, but you absolutely are required to file taxes every year and can get in trouble if you don't. There's a "streamlined procedure" that you can do if you've never filed taxes to start filing without incurring any fines or penalties.

Since you only use Plex because of overseerr: There is a fork called Jellyseer that is compatible with Jellyfin. Haven't tried it yet but it may be worth looking into.

Linux supports it, but (some?) motherboards won't boot without a display connected. I had this issue recently when I converted my old PC to a NAS and I had to buy a dummy plug.

I don't know, Apple releases a "new" version of macOS with big fanfare every year, and I've never heard anyone complain about it as if it were a huge breaking change.

Except the most widespread definition is the other way around: 12am is midnight and 12pm is noon. As that source argues, 12:01 during the day is clearly after noon, so it must be pm.

In the end my point stands: You can argue both ways and it is confusing.

Both Netflix and Disney+ now have "cheap" tiers with ads, at least here in Germany.

But not everything that's NSFW is also porn.

That's a very American point of view. I had multiple science classes (Physics, Biology, Chemistry) and a single Math and History class each. (I'm from Germany)

The different math classes that I know of from the US (Trig, Calculus, etc.) are all just taught in Math class according to the school year you're in.

I would subscribe in a heartbeat if I could get a cheaper subscription without youtube music.

Even if you're downloading the file directly from the URL found in the RSS feed, that doesn't mean that ads can't be dynamically injected into the file. A URL like https://download.my.podcast/episode4.mp3 can still be answered by a script that serves a custom version of the podcast with region specific ads.

There was a guy in the cinema recently who had this feature turned on. He didn't even bother to turn on do not disturb after the first time and he just didn't give a fuck that it was bothering everyone.

I love kubernetes. At the start of the year I installed k3s von my VPS and moved over all my services. It was a great learning opportunity that also helped immensely for my job.

It works just as well as my old docker compose setup, and I love how everything is contained in one place in the manifests. I don't need to log in to the server and issue docker commands anymore (or write scripts / CI stages that do so for me).

You won't be using a traditional RAID with TrueNAS Scale. You have a choice of Stripe, Mirror, RAIDZ1, RAIDZ2, RAIDZ3, dRAID1, dRAID2, dRAID3. The docs are very detailed, so you should read up on RAIDZ and the other types elsewhere, too.

What's the Ibuprofen demographic? Is Ibuprofen no longer used in the US? It's the go to painkiller here in Germany.

Since OP was never an American resident or paid taxes, he or she shouldn’t need to file taxes or be flagged on a system for anything anyway.

Unfortunately the US is one of two countries that requires all citizens, regardless of past or present residence or employment, to pay federal taxes.

I've been doing that for ~15 years and almost no one has commented on it :<

Podcasts are already hosted by a variety of independent services. Google doesn't host any podcasts, at least as far as I am aware. In this case it really is a frontend-only problem.

I was gonna call you out on 18 years being way too long ago... Then I realized that 2005 was, in fact, 18 years ago. I feel old now.

Outside north America most people tend to use a messaging app like WhatsApp, Signal, Facebook Messenger, etc.

FWIW it works fine in Firefox if you change the user agent.

Yeah that makes more sense, thanks!

I think there's an option to enable/disable sound on the host computer somewhere in the streaming settings.

I can imagine that some authorities might find it suspicious, but in OPs case, it is necessary to travel with both passports to have the least hassle.

Entering the US with your German passport or returning to Germany with your US passport if you have both will lead to a lot of questions as you won't have the necessary visa in those passports.

Edit: Although I wouldn't present both passports at the same time, only the one that is applicable or more convenient for wherever you are.

Looks like it's in the /site endpoint. The response has a my_user property that includes your followed communities in the follows property.

In that case you should contact a professional who has done this thing before. But be aware, it's quite expensive. This site, for example, charges 749 €.

I got Far Cry 6 with my 5800X, so they've been doing this for a while.

FYI lemmy ate all the classes on your divs.

Same. It looks and feels like "my first flutter app". I switched to Thunder, which is also made with flutter, but is much more pleasant to use.

The IRS has a special procedure for this case called "streamlined procedure". Unfortunately it's a little complicated and you have to pay close attention to all the required details.

I think this will only show communities from other instances if they have already been federated from there. So if no one on your instance has subscribed to a specific community, you won't find it in this search.

It says that 3 servings have 660 calories. So if you want to make an actual meal out of this, you need at least 3 servings. That makes it even less of a good deal.

It has always been this way as far as I can remember. Might be because I grew up in Hamburg?

But I can imagine that it has gotten way worse over the years and I just didn't notice because it's a slow change.

How much do you pay for that OVH server?

Have you tried GlosSI?

I've used it to play some game pass games.

That's how I understand "all but", but I've seen many people use it the opposite way, so maybe we're wrong?

I've been using Thunder and it feels way more polished than Liftoff.

It does have a feature now that kind of works like a forum. If you go to one of these channels it shows a list of posts, and each post can be commented on separately. But that's it, it doesn't even come close to reddit or lemmy.

Cool, that's a beefy machine. Way more expensive than I would be comfortable with but you do get lots of power.
