Different people, different taste.

I love FairEmail because of its "millions" of settings and the privacy features, for an example if you press a link, you'll get a popup with options (for an example, what app you want to open the link with). And if the link contains trackers, FairEmail will remove these by default and saying "tracking parameters removed" with yellow text in bold.

K-9 Mail feels incomplete in comparison. Have you tried FairEmail?

That was the issue! So v4.18.8 change from Shortcuts to Tree automatically. Good to know when Thunar will be updated on my laptop. Many thanks :)

I've been working on my economy overview website Keizai for the past 2-3 months. And started to develop the new version of my weather service Serenum few weeks ago. Only the landing page are done for now.

Keizai are basically all done. Just some tweaks and improvements here and there left to do. Also planning some new features.

The current version of Serenum works, but it is slow. The new version will be faster since the new API will cache the data. And instead of OpenWeatherMap (that logs "a lot" of data upon API request), the new version of Serenum API will use met.no (weather API from Norway with zero (0) logging).

For me personally, it's Victor Mono and Iosevka. Victor Mono for desktop and Iosevka for VSCodium.

Don't forget the highly customizable and themeable Kanboard, made by the same people behind Miniflux. I will check out plane, though. Looks neat!

Oh, hello late 1990s and early 2000s 😍 I love it! Nostalgia deluxe 😌

I can highly recommend BaΓ―kal.

I find Unexpected Keyboard's numbad awesome.

I found QMMP few years ago. As a fan of Winamp, I haven't looked back yet. QMMP is compatible with Winamp skins too.

Done :)

And when was "last time"? :) I have been using F-Droid for FairEmail since I tried the email client for the first time few years ago and I have never got any issues. Just updated FairEmail while writing this comment. Works just fine :)

Begin small, end big. That works for everything when learning something new. So, with that said, go for Linux Mint Cinnamon.

I begun my Linux journey with elementary OS which is more for macOS users. I was a Windows user so I switched to Linux Mint Cinnamon. After a few years of exploring and learning, I am now using EndeavourOS.

Indeed. I use Xfce and have to switch to Cinnamon to get a very good multi-monitor support.

Indeed. Their knowledge and detailed articles are pure gold!

FlorisBoard, hands down. I have tried many keyboards since maybe 2013, and FlorisBoard is the best one yet. It is privacy friendly too.

Auxio. Exists in F-Droid.

I have created such service a while ago for mainly my own sake. The name of the economy overview website is Keizai and it's far from done. The share feature is a little buggy and an update fixing this will come soon.

PWA is supported. You can self-host Keizai if you want. You own your data and the encryption keys. You can export and import your data and also delete your data or your account at any time. Budget, sharing stuff, and more. More features on the way.

The source code can be found at https://codeberg.org/airikr/Keizai

Native app will maybe come some time in the future. I have zero knowledge of Flutter or any other Android/iOS app languages or what they now are called πŸ˜† We'll see if the native app even will be released since PWA are good enough.

Update 2023-11-17: Keizai now havean demo account. Go to keizai.se?lang=en and follow the instructions.

Back to try learning darktable again then...

You can for an example add the height and the shape of a building when contributing to OSM. With this data, you can build 3D maps. It's really neat :)

There's Feeel that you can find in F-Droid. https://gitlab.com/enjoyingfoss/feeel

I am using linkding for my bookmarks. Used LinkAce before. linkding is perfect for my minimalistic taste. I just miss having an app for it. There's an app for linkding for iOS, though.

Indeed! I get excited when it is Friday, but sad/empty when I have read the newsletter. And after a few minutes of sadness, I start counting down the days to next Friday again.

As of now:

  • vaultwarden
  • linkding
  • Mumble server

I can't live without the first 2, though.

I am using a Google Pixel 6a with stock Android.

I bought the smartphone in short notice only because I was sick of OnePlus Nord 2 5G adjusting the settings for me. With a Google Pixel device, I am in charge for real! 😌 I am done with Chinese shit πŸ˜† Too much control.

Then why not root OnePlus Nord 2 and install a custom ROM? Na, I am too much of a coward to do that. Am afraid of bricking the phone like what I did with my Samsung Galaxy S III Mini. After that, I told myself, no more custom ROMs.

I have used Kanboard for a few years or so now. You can install themes and other plugins. But besides that, Kanboard are truly advanced piece of tool. It is packed with useful features (and not useful, such as the time tracker (at least for me)).

Tips: when you have added some tasks and want a more compact view, press S on the keyboard. Press the key again to toggle back.

Have to try virtually! Even if Windows 10 are so much better than Windows 11.

That one I really liked! Will try it out during this weekend. Thanks :)

Nice! That font really looked nice through the smartphone. Will try it out in VSCodium when I can. Thanks!

Yepp, I saw that issue last month or something like that :) Thank you for the link anyway.

I use the call recorder whenever I feel like it's important (for an example, when calling a company). But sometimes the phone (Pixel 6a) does not register my push on the record button. So most of the times, I have to press it 2-4 times before the phone goes like "aha, you actually pressed the button" -.- Super annoying! Automatic call record will prevent this issue :)

Looks good. But I have to ask: why modernize such beautiful theme? The theme in Windows 2000 was even more beautiful, though, but Windows 98 have that nostalgic feeling.

If you're only interested in expenses, debts, loans, budget, and statistics, then Keizai is maybe something for you? Transactions is maybe on its way to the pile of features, too.

Adobe Lightroom Classic. I have darktable installed on Linux, but I haven't mastered it yet. Lightroom is the software for photo edoting, unfortuntately.

Pretty awesome emojis, yes.

I tried Wanderer few days ago and I did find it very nice, yet quite buggy.

I was forced to update the page a second time before being able to do something, for an example using the menu.

But other than that, I find Wanderer very nice! Just miss seeing mainly how fast I was travelled in km/h. The statistics and details provided in workout-tracker1 is absolutely amazing! If you add such details into your project, that would be awesome!

I would say KISS Launcher.

You're welcome :)

Yes, I have. I really liked it, but I didnt like that GitHub blocked me every now and then. I don't have any account there due to privacy reasons.

I somewhat don't mind outdated apps. It depends on what app it is. I wouldn't use Bitwarden if they stop develop their app, as of 1 example.

Thanks for the link πŸ™‚

Hm. You're probably right. When I uninstalled Nemo, it also uninstalled cinnamon-desktop. Luckily, I am using EndeavourOS Xfce 😌

Yepp! Thunar is the best file manager out there for me, and I have tried a handful of them.
