You need context from the show to get this meme. This episode is a satire on how women who molest minors are treated differently and how some people are inclined to congratulate the molested instead of seeing them as victims.

It's not nice, and we need to view the attitude of situations like this being "nice" as messed up. Hence the meme.

In a few months though I can handle a change or gap in insurance though so I've got a light at the end of the tunnel at least

This is just so fucked. In no way do I mean on your end, but just that the system begets inhumane situations like this.

Ah, the good 'ol Heard Turd

I mean, this isn't an awful idea...

The real world logistics probably make this more complicated than implied, but I don't mind the intent.

"We are not Nazis, we just vote for the National Socialist German Workers' Party."

As of a few years ago at least, most Taiwanese people were in favour of keeping relations as they are and neither expanding nor severing Chinese relations from status quo. They already operate as their own country, so a push towards further separation is mostly only symbolic anyway and they don't want to provoke China and their current peace for a symbolic gesture. I think that by treating Taiwan as its own country but not identifying it as such, we are acting as most Taiwanese wish.

This would make a ton of sense if your choice of Lemmy instance were not just that; a choice. It's not a characteristic innate to your being that you're born with or something.

You can choose to associate with whatever instance you want and swap it up with another account somewhere else if you want at any time (you can prob keep the same username if you want too).

Them's the small government folks for ya...

I don't really have anything to add, but thanks for writing this. It's quite insightful.

Hell, even Dell who came up with the standard chose to switch to soldered memory on the brand new XPS laptops instead of using their own CAMM standard ^because ^money.

No. But, if they were to I reckon if I'd have the dentist look at them and decide what to do then...rather than rip 'em all out preemptively.

Guessing you're writing about the US? Unless you're a user on a clearly country-specific server, a large chunk of users do not know what this country is.

I appreciate the genuine response. It's good for my cynical ass.

If someone blew up the toilet or smtg sus, hmu. tbh we high-key tryna glow-up this campground frfr. can't stop won't stop til this place straight up slays ong. need ur help fam. thx

True, but even if Steam were to offer a x% lower cut on sales for Linux users if the developer makes a Linux-native build, it'd still not entice many to build and maintain a native port if they are only saving x% off a tiny y% of users. Other poster's point being that incentives like this would actually become enticing to companies when Linux market share (Proton users) increases.

Doubtful Steam is gonna offer a share cut on all sales when it runs on Proton for the 2% of userbase using Linux, and from that only a minority would care whether or not it's native anyway.

Just want to add that Mullvad DNS may have high latency depending on where you're browsing from, slowing down your browsing experience. Their public DNS servers are pretty sparse, unlike their VPN servers.

Yeah, last point is very true. I can already tell this girl is gonna have a good father regardless if he applies anything from this thread or not, given he cares enough and has the humility to ask.

I spent >10 years of my youth playing a sport competitively. I don't think I ever watched a professional game to completion. Unlike pretty much all my teammates, I just could not have cared less.

Play the sport myself? Fun, sure! Watch someone else play? Uh, why?

I think it's great that people enjoy watching sports. I dunno why but it just bored the hell out of me.

WTF is the screen scaling set to on that laptop?

The way to beat this system is to build alternatives and wean people off of their dependence on it, and deprive it of victims.

And how do you propose we do this considering the only way the system can have alternatives is if the system allows for alternatives which (spoiler) >!it won't!<.

Imagine you got a job offer where health care is not a given. I don’t expect to have any health problems, but if it happens, and my insurance won't cover (all of) it, wow it would suck to live there.

It’s almost like you’re missing some kind of essential form of medical care.

There are some fields like computer science where the pay in the US has the potential to be much higher. But, it really has to be—and significantly so, imo—in order to make the reduction in or outright lack of guaranteed services something acceptable.

Oh, we weren't talking abou...fuck I gotta get off the internet for a while.

That's where you guys draw the line? With automated facial recognition vans, CCTV everywhere, among other things, the UK is certainly not a country that comes to mind when I think "civil liberties and privacy".

Whey protein is generally the best protein you can get (in terms of amino acid profile).

There are some good vegan powders but also some real shite ones that seem to have high protein but of low quality. One with a 70% pea protein and 30% brown rice protein blend is about the closest you can get to a whey powder. I'd be skeptical of one's that don't provide an amino acid profile table beside the nutrition facts. Good chance they're inflating the total protein with poor quality sources.

Also, like someone else said, you can consider a whey protein isolate. If you aren't avoiding dairy for ethical/diet reasons and just due to lactose intolerance, good chance you can have an isolate without blowing up your bowels.

Lmao part of the reason I went so deep into the Linux world was because my school board had super advanced network policies that were able to effectively block specific traffic and pretty much any commercial VPN. I had to build my own server at home to connect to from school using a bunch of traffic cloaking techniques to get unobstructed internet access.

I didn't really use any sites that were blocked anyway, but it made me go "watch me bitch" to whoever was overengineering the censorship system in our school board's IT.
