Exactly as you’ve described it: bust, waist, hip and leg length, but with leg length from hip to ankle. It would mean not all sizes are available for a given piece of clothing, but it would mean that on the rack or online, you could tell whether a piece of clothing would fit.

$18/hour is just barely a living wage in NYC. Actual living wage for an adult with 0 children in NYC is about $25.50/hour:

On top of that you have the challenges specific to these jobs. If you’re on bike, that’s hard work and limits the hours you can do without risking injury. If you’re driving (which is maybe practical in outer boroughs) you’re shouldering all the costs of the vehicle working for a delivery app. Either way that’s way too little after taxes per month, even at $18/hr.

Fahrenheit 451 is highly readable.

You can’t really judge whether you would work long term, based on a relationship with someone who’s in travel or on vacation. People are more fun, generous, open, adventurous when traveling. It can be amazing and worth it, but the person (and the relationship) would not be that way forever.

Even in the first month of a normal relationship, its the honeymoon, desperately hopelessly in love phase. Add on the fact that he was traveling in another country -away from the pressures and doldrums of normal life - yeah, it was amazing. But he wouldn’t be that way forever. You had a special glimpse of the best he could be, but that’s not necessarily who he is every day, year in and year out.

But to answer your question: you have to actively make an effort to move on. It’s hard but try to do your best to see it as a fun experience that is in the past. You learned something from it - that you can love and be loved. And that you can love and let go, and move on as a stronger version of yourself.

The other comment link showcases her ability to turn it off and on in a funny way but the above is relevant to the strike.

It was a play on words, from /sbin. More info in the top thread.

“ Last month, two bodies were found near the barriers, with one stuck in the razor buoys. Their identities and cause of death are under investigation.”

Saved you the click.

High rise domes!

If you put a peach in this meal, tho - that’s Georgia’s peach.

What about Kraftwerk. They’re so influential and iconic.

Or read a book, or do literally anything else.

But drivers sound like bvrrrrrmmm.

Your comment reflects what my own experience has been over the past few years.

From a related article: “ Last month, two bodies were found near the barriers, with one stuck in the razor buoys. Their identities and cause of death are under investigation.”

Women, Race and Class by Angela Davis.

Reading some of the history that gets left out elsewhere. Did you know that before the end of the Civil War lynching was primarily used to terrorize white abolitionists? After the Civil War during reconstruction, during Jim Crow, white supremacists needed to find a reason to terrorize and control the black community so the myth of the black man as rapist was woven into public discourse. It was the most convenient excuse to find a reason to violently punish and control black people who in whatever way challenged or violated the status quo. Accusations of even inappropriate forwardness were enough to justifying hanging. But the real reason would be that some black person or family started a business, sought education or became empowered in some way, challenging the white supremacist social hierarchy - and were lynched for it.

Yes but they would only send one person or a small group, carefully and with protection. Without any sign people would just walk in and slowly suffer the consequences.

I wouldn’t worry about it. You can make things work just as well as android phones work with everything else. AirPods work with android phones and you can sync data through google apps, etc. just as well on iphone. I have both and android (Pixel) and iPhone and don’t feel “sucked in” to anything.

The main difference for me is that iphones have been more durable. I went through three Pixel upgrades, two times there was some minor hardware issue that bricked the phone. The one I have now had a cracked screen - even though I got a tempered glass screen protector and always keep it in the case. If my iPhone gets bumped around I don’t need to worry. With my second Pixel I dropped the phone four feet onto linoleum ( not a super hard surface) and a capacitor came loose. It cost almost as much as a new phone to get it fixed and it was not a typical repair, so trying to even find a place to do this specialized kind of repair was going to be a hassle.

For me knowing that my phone isn’t just going to spontaneously break is a big factor.

Sorry - I don't expect you to change your own habits or something, this isn't personal. I work in this space, so to me it's just a fact and not a matter of opinion. Air travel results in higher carbon emissions per kg-km than road travel by about an order of magnitude. Even for long haul flights.

The GREET model: https://www.energy.gov/eere/bioenergy/articles/greet-greenhouse-gases-regulated-emissions-and-energy-use-transportation

It still involves using floss. Just gets you to use less of it.

Eduardo fled Venezuela to avoid arrest following his refusal to fire on demonstrators. Like many of his compatriots, he and his family reached the U.S. border after passing through the Darien Gap, a notorious 66-mile stretch of roadless jungle connecting Colombia and Panama. “It was hell,” he says. “A lot of people die in the jungle from drowning, disease, attacks.” He recalls seeing a Haitian boy drown in a river after falling from his father’s shoulders.

Wow.

People supporting sex work being legal and the non-acceptance of people using sex workers in illegal/non consensual situations are congruous positions.

Yes, "the end of the journey' got me too. So AI-looking. It's this one:

This was a good answer.

Per kg-km flying is higher carbon impact than driving, no matter how full the plane is.
