Capitalism, babyyyyy!!!

Okay... it was, though.

"Hey, we already got that whole eating mushrooms thing going, what if Mario was actually literally tripping fucking BALLS in our next game?"
"Nah man, we can't market that to children..."
"We're just gonna call it 'wonder seeds' or some shit, idk" "SOLD!"

For real though, any excuse for the teams at Nintendo to unleash their whole creativity is a plus in my book.
I'm not preordering out of principle, but the game looks great!

Yes. "The internet never forgets" is actually a thing.

5-6 hours seems excessive... If you have other issues that are the root cause, maybe deal with those first, but if it's a self-control issue (which it was for me sometimes) there are great browser plugins to block certain sites after a certain amount of time. I use LeechBlock for firefox and after my "self allotted time" it locks down reddit and lemmy for me so I can't access it any more. There are similar plug ins for other browsers, I can really recommend it!

Ps: But to answer your original question, from an ideological standpoint, definitely stay on lemmy.

"Main character energy" is a great way to put it. If I came across someone wearing these I'd have some assumptions...

Thanks, Obama.

Good bot

Sure, and nobody would blame them if they simply tried to create a sustainable business with positive cashflow. The type of capitalism that is referenced here is the one where you squeeze every last penny out of the platform and would even sell your users trust, which your long term profit relies upon, if it means higher numbers in your quarterly report.

1 more...

Reality and evidence were never really something they were concerned with...

The machine needs to be fed.

Man, environmental news is just one feel good story after the other. Like, is something happening or something? /s

I think it's extremely hard to tell what people would prioritize. If you aks them hypothetically, everyone probably is some green warrior for mother earth. But then when push comes to shove, the industry will give them the choice between a flagship phone, glued all around, and a phone with a removable battery with all the greatest specs from five years ago. Of course many will chose the glued one, and then some people will be like "welp, the free market has decided". 🤷

edit: typo

This was one of the main selling features for me (before I tried it and experienced all the other killer features). I've experienced a bad case of vendor-lock before where it was hell to export my data. So having it all available in plain text at all times is really reassuring.

There are some kids toys where they hold the toy in place in the cardboard packaging by having a screw go through a little plastic plate, through the cardboard and then into the toy. I always found these really wastefull and anoying to open.

Very cool! I used to think that no one would care when researchers would protest these things by striking. But I guess anything that hurts the well oiled money making machine that is modern academia (not for researchers though, of course) gets noticed. Seeing it done for real is great, and even more so that it was successful!

So you think your average MBA holder would not go the "extract short term value at all cost" route? Because it feels like they would. Maybe it's more of a "the wrong people making it to the top" problem.

I was only lurking on reddit. Here I'm trying to help make the place feel alive by also commenting and engaging. So far I'm really enjoying the experience and I'm not looking back. Also yes, I feel like I do spend a bit more time on lemmy, but it might just be the novelty.

That does sound really comfy.

"Oh No Ross and Carrie" They go participate in all kinds of "fringe science" or spiritual stuff and report on it in a very funy but, in my opinion, largely respectful way.

Seconded. Looks amazing

Was wondering the same thing

They be wanting them moneys. 🤷

I also imagine these scissors getting progressively smaller until you have to buy tweesers to handle the scissors you use to open the scissors you bought to open...

They don't mention it as one of their inspirations but this also looks like a cool open source alternative to Obsidian. Although I don't think Logseq has a mobile app which i really love for Obsidian.

I thought I saw an anouncement somewhere that some people from that sub moved to lemmy... Maybe search for it again.

I see what you did there. 😅

Isn't it free if you're okay with using it in light mode?

I mostly use the CLI but when I used to use PyCharm the JetBrain git GUI was the shit. The closest to it in a standalone program I've seen is maybe sublime merge, which is also great.

Big fan of Obsidian. Especially for written notes. If you are working with a lot of images I'd give its canvas feature a try. I'm not using it personally, but I think it might fit the bill.

So what would be the end goal for Meta? Weaken reddit and twitter as platforms, but they don't believe that the fediverse is able to take off in the mass market, so people will finally post on Facebook again?

Edit: A word
