The reason why people put uTorrent in memes is due to its recognition, let's change this, always create memes with qBittorrent

No, not yet, this question was probably posted by me. I'm one of the provocators to switch to the new protocol.

The thing is the most tracker admins are:

  1. Too lazy to implement it.
  2. Have too little information about its benefits.
  3. Only heard downfalls associated by compatibility problems, which were exxagerated by people who don't like to update their software.

I even created a tool called tmrr. Which allows you to extract, compare and calculate file hashes (BTMR hash precisely — BitTorrent Merkle Root, hence it differs from a regular sha256) name for BitTorrent v2 compatible .torrents.

Which already shows some advantages of use of the protocol in user environment, like finding same torrents contents with different names, reviving dead torrents, preserving historical Internet artifacts' hashes.

The final feature I'm going to release is the ability to download torrents without duplicates (first time in the history of BitTorrent), saving time, storage and bandwidth. Imagine downloading site, page dumps, libraries, video/photo archives and other uncategorized materials without duplicate files.

Easily finding how much user storage specific game and its developers wasted due to ineffective coding.

This feature is ready, but there are some problems in libtorrent (library that qBittorrent uses), which should be fixed by the next release (this year probably) to make it work.

Hope this will get attention from users and accelerate the switch.

We just created (1 hour ago) a pull request to the TorrentPier (public tracker engine which Rutracker and many other trackers use). It took 2-3 hours.

Only hybrid torrents allowed currently (torrents containing both v1 and v2 inside)

Ready abilities:

  • Show file hashes in file list
  • Show v2 hash inside magnet links
  • Removed displaying paddings (.pad folder) and counting their sizes.

Tomorrow's pull request may contain:

  • Showing file names, hashes and sizes in a table for search indexers to index (any seo advices?)

  • Answer to v2 hash announces

  • Some styling corrections

Do you have any other ideas? Please comment.

TorrentPier is the first tracker engine which will release with BitTorrent v2!

Cloudflare (American) is a cancer in this case, cause they have an auto-ban feature, which instantly checks hashes of files in a blacklist and warns domain admins with following ban of dashboard. And this not only goes to CSAM.

I have 25Mbps, but unfortunately I don't have torrents which are seeded much, only rare

Yes, you can, I would say that it would be good to deduplicate files first.

Also put a txt file with locations and file hashes in torrent, it could be usable if some valuable files were lost in the future due to seeders being inactive and torrent becoming dead, to make .torrent file smaller you would choose a bigger piece size, but in this case users would have to waste additional traffic if they are downloading only files they choose.

It would be nice then to have BEP-47 support for file alignment, but this comes with many padding files locations in torrent's metadata which makes it bigger.

If you have a big nested structure of folders, then every file there would have something like this info in metadata: folder1/folder2/folder3/file.jpg

All of these problems could be solved, if you're choosing format to BitTorrent v2 only while creating the torrent, but keep in mind that it won't work with Transmissions and uTorrents. qBittorrents are working.

You could choose a hybrid, but it makes torrent size a lot bigger.

So overall, bestly you would choose v2 or hybrid (with hybrids sacrificing torrent's size greatly, but providing your users with file hashes, deduplication and reduced bandwidth), or make at least a v1 torrent, optionally in a client that supports BEP-47 after deduplication and adding .txt

Torrent-file, also supports BitTorrent v2 — coming with piece alignment by default.

I think my explanation was exhaustive, but yes, that's right.. This applies not only to cp, the same "popular" people did not like Aaron, and it would be beneficial for them to have someone criticize Swartz, the usual psychology is to expose a person in a bad light, telling only about his misdeeds, binding some bad events to his/her world views. Some even pay for it.

The point is that — people tend to forget all the good in a person, if he has done thousands of good deeds, one of his choices, which is not accepted or understood in society, reduces them all to nothing.

Do we have a torrent for Ghost Spectre?

I didn't find official links

Cross swarms by v2 feature is not implemented yet in any client I know, yes, the latest versions of BiglyBT support Swarm Merging by v2 hash, but Swarm Discoveries is other thing.

As far as I know biglybt Swarm Discoveries work by matching size of files, but even in this case it takes a lot of time (millions of torrents) to crawl DHT network.

To implement something like this clients would announce file hash list DHT, which would come up as a big load on network itself. Better option would be giving this load to trackers, but there's no standard for this yet, announcing something like: info_hash -> [file_hash1, file_hash2...]

would need another connection method, could be a http POST request.

Biggest question here is the trackers willing to take this load.

P.S.

Did you name your torrent "testing cross swarms"? :D

Do you usually see mobile versions of uTorrent in memes?

Are there any android clients and public servers?

What protocol does hTorrent use to communicare with BitTorrent peers? Webtorrent uses WebRtc which is incompatible with most torrent clients today

I do neither, yes I do comment, but don't apply it to easy code.

The thing is I also make easy comments about hard stuff in the code, it's like giving a cancerous puppy a reason to live :D

Create a hybrid then, it will add BEP-47 to v1 separately (since hybrids can't exist without it) and you will have additional v2 support, with built-in piece alignment, double win.

Any job where you service

YouTube -> Invidious or even better, odysse -> or even, even better, PeerTube

Probably an outdated geoIP routing table.

I too like porn..😉🙃😏

People tend to forget about BitComet, due to its past fails with tracker exchange and padding files.

It still improves, and if you say, that the reputation is lost, then that's good, don't use uTorrent in this case.

tTorrent -> Network usage

Also Flud on the first usage

Oh wait, you mean interface, sorry mate, I think that requires root, enable VPN app, it will handle it automatically.

People are not aware of its benefits and basically don't know what it is

This is probably because you have a dynamic IP address

Try btdig

Crackstatus (russian piracy site with 30k members) implemented one of our first builds (many features yet coming), see for yourself in info hash variants and magnet link ;)

RSS downloader with support for BitTorrent v2 file hashes, to deduplicate files in swarms and analyze them for less seeds to join and help, something like an actual implementation of share-mode in libtorrent

4pda

There are hundreds of modders who upload

LibreTorrent for Android, wince it uses libtorrent library like qBittorrent does

:)

You can extract, calculate and compare those hashes using this tool.

In the next bug-fix release of libtorrent the tool will have ability to generate magnet links to download torrents without duplicate files, saving storage, bandwidth and most importantly time.

Very useful for dumps, libraries, video/photo archives ;)

🥺

Here's the link.

If you don't understand, then just think of it as the solution of 99% stuck torrents and need to download part of other files' pieces to check if given file is valid.

I didn't see your comment earlier, pretty much all of them support hybrids, old transmissions till 3.01 are exclusions, and that's because their devs didn't implement their bencoding library according to BEP, but this flaw was fixed in the new versions awhile.

So you're loose to choose hybrids (or hell, even v2 only), protocol was around for a couple of years, don't believe what others' say, those are the pretty much lazy people with low technical background, who are afraid to upgrade their clients for years. Didn't catch that "remote" thing, but there could be no way of modifying data bound to sha256 hash.

BitTorrent v2 — is the future. I suppose there's no need telling its improvements.

Thank you for thorough clarification

Funny, Russia shut down torrent sites in ~2010, because most of them were filled with foreign stuff, and that was a friendly (back then) request from European government due to global justification steps made in copyright laws.

In overall Russia has the best seeders out there with decent connections, content and loyalty to sharing.
