There's nothing wrong with using a game controller to steer the thing, I think the issue is more the lack of backup or failsafes.
Also, I'm very much a layperson in this field, but would it have not made sense to tether this thing to a ship on the surface? They could have kept in contact with the surface via the tether and had them reel the thing back in if there were problems with its propulsion or steering.
I saw the video of its interior. As someone who has claustrophobia, it's absolute nightmare fuel. It's a cylinder about 15 feet long and maybe 6 feet wide that you can't even stand up in. It's going to be very unpleasant for 5 people.

Yes, the rest of the world got the extra security restrictions in order to fly. I'm in Europe and we generally have better, faster rail networks than the US (and everything is closer together) so we don't fly as much as Americans.
I used to work in the US about 10 years ago, and the contrast between that and when I visited in the 1990s to go to Graceland is pretty stark. It takes forever now to get through those TSA queues and immigration. You could also smoke on the transatlantic flight in the 90s!

The graphics are pretty good and combat is enjoyable for about an hour, but the game is incredibly repetitive - drive around the planet, peril will be provided by cold/heat/gas, solve the exact same boring puzzles, fight one of two kinds of bad guy, go to a new planet and do it again, etc.
The story was almost in danger of being interesting at times, but the plot is cliched and predictable. I didn't like Andromeda and I loved ME1-3
it's really easy, I spun up my own instance in a morning. Ok, I am a sysadmin and programmer, but it really wasn't very difficult and didn't require much beyond creating a VPS and DNS entry along with basic abilities at the command line to use the ansible playbook.
I want to like vscode, and the vim bindings make me feel at home. I just don't like it though, I find it so slow for a text editor, and the intellisense seems to be very hit and miss as to whether it's going to work.
Every few months I open up vscode and give it a try, then go back to vim.
been playing it via Yuzu EA builds. It runs just fine on the Deck at around 30fps, dipping to 20fps in some of the harder to render areas but it's certainly playable. I play on my gaming rig as well where it can easily keep a consistent 30fps.
Double Dragon Neon has an absolutely banging soundtrack. I wish I could get it on Spotify, but it's only on Bandcamp. Mango Tango is amazing.
