The fact that someone like Biden and Bernie exist in the same party tells you how awful the 2-party system is.

He keeps changing his demands all the time. If turkey are let into the EU he will just come up with another excuse. No thanks.

I wouldn't join a private tracker that requires me to expose my real IP. It doesn't sound serious at all.

Worth pointing out that while ventoy is open source, iventoy is not. Might be important to some people.

I just run one mariadb container via docker-compose that all my other services use as their database.

version: "2"
services:
  mariadb:
    image: lscr.io/linuxserver/mariadb:latest
    container_name: mariadb
    environment:
      - TZ=####/####
      - PUID=###
      - PGID=###
      - MYSQL_ROOT_PASSWORD==############
    volumes:
      - /docker/mariadb:/config
    ports:
      - 3306:3306
    restart: unless-stopped

Off-topic but I don't really get the appeal in running Kubernetes (or similar technologies) in a homelab. Unless it's something you want to learn for work of course.

You can self host Libreddit. Works great that way.

ranger is another good one. I very rarely end up using a terminal file manager though.

Since my "homelab" is just that, a homelab, I'm comfortable with using :latest-tag on all my containers and just running docker-compose pull and docker-compose up -d once per week.

They are usually released at the end of the year.

  • 6.1 - 2022-12-11
  • 5.15 - 2021-10-31
  • 5.10 - 2020-12-13
  • 5.4 - 2019-11-24
  • 4.19 - 2018-10-22
  • 4.14 - 2017-11-12

But when you say "24.04" it sounds like you are asking when the next Ubuntu LTS is released?

Can confirm as another Memmy user.

According to them it's a way to get individual enthusiasts on board who will then get their workplaces to adopt Tailscale.

Welcome to SkincareAddiction!

First off, your skin looks great so don't worry too much about it. This is a cliché thing to say but I doubt anyone else even notices them. But that's not the advice you were looking for so here we go:

I'm not a doctor so take this for what it is, but it does look like a very mild case of closed comedones to me. There's no one-size-fits-all fix for that but one thing you could consider is to introduce some kind of exfoliant into your routine, such as AHA or BHA.

Speaking of routine, what's your current routine? It's possible that it's caused by a reaction from a product that you're using.

I haven't tried the Cetaphil moisturizing cream but I have tried the "Cetaphil Facial Moisturizer Dry Skin" and I really liked it. Its very similar to the Cetaphil moisturizing cream from what I can tell.

The CeraVe moisturizing cream is nice but when my skin is sensitive it can actually burn a bit when applying, which Cetaphil Facial Moisturizer Dry Skin never did. Unfortunately though it made my skin feel a bit greasy so that's why I didn't stick with it. Perhaps I will give it another go in the winter when my skin is super dry!

Currently I'm trying the Geek & Gorgeous Happier Barrier moisturizer and I reeeally like it! Actually I'm trying multiple products from Geek & Gorgeous right now and I'm becoming a bit of a fan-girl!

A lot of people prefer to use tretinoin after their moisturizer. It can reduce irritation from the tretinoin while in theory not reducing its effectiveness. Just remember to wait 30 minutes inbetween applications! You can google "tretinoin sandwich method" if you wanna learn more about it.

A lot of those points seem like things left leaning politicians are trying to push for, so the fact that many countries are now voting right wing parties to power makes me a bit worried for EU's future. (Recent examples are Italy, Sweden, Finland and many more coming according to polls).

The free license is so generous that a home user really should have no reason to ever pay for it.

are you even hosting it

No but as andrew mentions below you CAN self host it.

I don't think anyone is saying he got the position because of his sexual position, but rather that he got it regardless of it. It's just some uplifting news that some countries have progressed enough to the point where a (voting) majority of the population don't mind an openly gay head of state.

Oh ok you should probably clarify that in the OP since everyone is giving you recommendations of self hosted software. It's usually assumed that's what someone's after when they are asking for a FOSS service.

Agreed! I would say "skin types" is a made up term to make marketing products easier. In reality it's much more complicated than that. (And thanks for the book tip, now I got something new to read 😍)

Thank you, I really appreciate that! Lemmy is currently mostly filled with tech and similar topics so I hope communities like ours can make Lemmy more appealing to a broader demographic of people. And of course I'm obsessed with skincare so I'm happy to moderate here ☺️

Small correction: dehydroacetic acid is a preservative so it's actually only ascorbic acid (also known as Vitamin C) that's doing the exfoliation. So if you want products that achieve the same thing then its most likely Vitamin C you should be looking for, and luckily there's plenty of them these days.

I highly recommend checking out Paula's Choice Skin Care Ingredient Checker for this kind of stuff! You paste in an ingredient list and it will give you tons of useful information. How well an ingredient is regarded, what its function is and so on.

Here's the results for OP's product for example.

As usual the Arch wiki is one of the best resources for this. Not everything is applicable on Debian but should answer most questions. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Unified_Extensible_Firmware_Interface/Secure_Boot

Oh wow, if you said 4 products then it would be easy but only 3 is almost impossible. I guess I would have to give up retinoid.

  • Cleanser: Geek & Gorgeous Jelly Joker
  • Moisturizer: Cetaphil Facial Moisturizer
  • SPF: Evy Daily Defense Face Mousse SPF 50

Fixed, I think!

Sorry that this is a bit off-topic, but this post gave me the idea that maybe we should have a stickied mega-thread where people can post their current skin routines. I think its a great way to share tips and get inspiration. If anyone has any ideas of what questions should be asked in additions to your current routine (like what is your skin concerns for example) then let me know!

Would you mind sharing the finished version? I love it 😊

If you're OK with books then I think "The Lab Muffin Guide to Basic Skincare" by Michelle Wong or "Let's Face It" by Rio Viera-Newton are a great place to start. I can highly recommend both!

It's fine to post this article here but it might be a bit controversial since in reality it's an ad masked as an article. For now that's allowed but that might change in the future.

"Parker went on to outline her three-step routine, which uses products from RoC, a brand she's worked with since 2022."

I posted about this brand in the "Holy Grail"-thread and I'm gonna mention them again here.

While most sunscreens lay on top of the outermost layer of the skin and are therefore very susceptible to damage from for example rubbing, or perhaps sweat, Evy's sunscreens go slightly deeper (like a moisturizer does). If you are able to find Evy products where you live for a reasonable price then I would give them a try! The kid's version is perhaps the most gentle and best bang for the buck, so a good place to start!

Michelle did a video about them and surprisingly enough found that their claims about durability are actually probably legit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4X8FWiV5R8

Another suncreen I really like is the Eucerin Oil Control Sun Gel-Cream SPF50+. I don't sweat that much so I can't say how sweat-resistant it is personally, although I've heard some people say it is.

Skin type: Sensitive, dry

Skin goals: Reduce sensitivity, moisturize, reduce "bumps" on cheeks and dark rings under eyes

AM:

  • Cleanser: L300 Cleansing Milk or just water
  • Toner: Geek & Gorgeous Liquid Hydration
  • Eye serum: The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG
  • Serum: Geek & Gorgeous Stress Less
  • SPF: EVY Daily Defense Face Mousse SPF 50

PM:

  • Cleanser: Geek & Gorgeous Jelly Joker
  • Toner: Geek & Gorgeous Liquid Hydration
  • Eye serum: The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG
  • Serum: Geek & Gorgeous Stress Less
  • Moisturizer: Cetaphil Facial Moisturizer

Other: I recently started slowly introducing BHA into my routine, so I'm using Geek & Gorgeous Porefectly Clear 2% BHA every 3 days.

General thoughts: It's working well for me right now! After my skin has gotten used to BHA then I hope to introduce retinol/retinal into my routine as well!

Debian is great. It's basically Ubuntu (it also uses apt for example) but bit more traditional. In fact it's probably one of the most popular distros used in servers when you don't need the support that someone like Redhat can give you especially as a business. And if you can't live without "snaps" then you can install snapd on Debian.

Another thing you can try is some kind of caching solution, like profile-sync-daemon that will put your profile in RAM.

As far as I understand it, a "water cream" is just a water based moisturizer without oils which is possible because of advancements in technology. They are definitely here to stay! As you say, they are perfect for oily skin or when you just don't need something heavy like during the summer.

I'm interested to hear which moisturizer it is that have become your new favorite! Personally I'm about to try the "Neutrogena Hydroboost Gel Cream Moisturiser" which I've heard a lot of good things about. My current moisturizers feel a bit too heavy during the summer.

I keep seeing "CosRx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence" everywhere! Anyone tried it? What's your experience with it?

You could use something occlusive to really lock that moisture in but it's not really necessary!

Great summary!

Just wanna add that the benefit of using a cleanser with actives instead of a leave-on product is that it's usually more gentle, with the obvious downside that it's less effective as you mention. Could be a good place to start if you have very sensitive skin. It's also a good option when using benzoyl peroxide since it can discolor textiles upon contact.

That's a great point I hadn't considered tbh! And that learning new technologies even if there is no "purpose" to it can be... fun! :)

Please post an update/review when you've tried them, I'm interested to know! 😊
