Too many people seem to think that we are picketing Reddit in hopes they change course and we can go back. Most people need to stop pretending and just go back to reddit, or just shut up and rebuild their communities somewhere else.

For me it wasn’t about the money, I pay for plenty of things in order to escape ads. The CEO all but came out and said that they don’t care about anything except money… That’s just business and I understand it, I don’t like it, but I understand it.

The issue I saw was Reddit made no attempt to understand the situation third party app devs were in, or to honestly work with the devs to find an equitable solution. That much has been clear before the CEO began to gaslight both the devs and the users about it.

All of my personal servers are Debian. My last company switched their entire production fleet from centos to Debian. I think a lot of people switched to Debian back when the Centos Stream debacle went down.

People like that make me like systemd. Honestly, I see no issues and rarely have a problem with systemd. I have stopped using Reddit as a place to waste time and doom scroll, but I am not really looking for a full replacement. I'm have started using multiple platforms to fill my time now. For news and current events I have started using RSS again. I spend a decent amount of time on Mastodon. Lemmy has been a great link aggregator and the growing community is making it feel like a great Reddit replacement, im just not putting all my eggs in one basket.
