Mine are staying delete now after initially a few popping back up. What’s more concerning is that I requested my data a few weeks after I deleted my content. I was fully expecting to get empty files but nope ALL of my content. Dating back 10 years is still there! It’s not on my Reddit profile but they clearly kept it somewhere and can recall it whenever they want to. They do not delete the data.

Sunscreen, Niacinamide and Thayers Witchhazel toner

Ah it’s a tight race with the Twitter blue check mark

Mine were fairly recent and needed to be deleted several times to stay deleted. Seemed really random.

Keep your account for a while after deleting

There is also a obsidian community here if you are interested and FromSergio does great videos on it on YT

Amazing! Let’s keep this going!!!

Just got their email. That was it for me. I had kept my account to make sure they aren’t bringing back my deleted posts. Time to get rid of the account and tell them they suck.

Haha genius!!!

Thanks!

Thank you!

You know what? I think I can help you a bit here. I just started in October and I started making earrings. Small items, just playing around with a cheap cut of leather.

I can highly highly recommend Weaver’s YT channel, especially Chuck’s Leather Element videos. He is a fantastic teacher and he literally will teach you about anything you need to know. If you are in the US it’s also the best place to buy some leather and their tools. They aren’t in your face advertising, it’s really helpful. The quality is good if not great and their prices are ok. They link a lot of their stuff.

Try some of their free patterns if you like or you can buy some on Etsy etc. I made a couple and then started designing my own.

It’s the trickiest part for me but again Chuck explains well how to go about making pattern etc. It’s incredibly freeing.

Join us in the Leathercraft (just follow the link in the post) community if you want. I am hoping we get a good discussion going for beginners to experts.

I am in Canada. I still ordered some stuff (they’re chisels!) from them. But I am sure you’ll find some supplier in your country as well. It depends a bit what you want to make. I am more of a jack of all trades as well but Leathercraft really got me hooked. Start out with some smaller projects while you figure out where you want to go. I started with earrings and luggage tags etc. You don’t need much for this. But when I discovered handbags are actually doable … boy oh boy lol. I bought some tools I don’t use much but I call that investment in my learning. One thing I won’t do again is buy hardware (snaps, buckles, rivets etc) just to have them. It’s much better to design, plan and then go shopping for that specific item. I have a bunch of hardware that I might never use or not in a long time. I started buying exactly what I need now and that’s much better. Even when you typically have some leftovers. At least you might use more to fix something later because you have already used it. And I also know for example what strap width I like. Now I buy that size of hardware.

I haven’t tried Bear so I am not sure how it works or what you collect there. I am fairly new to leather crafting but I design all my stuff. I am super interested in talking about this as I have a set up but I am sure it can be improved immensely. So I hope you and others share more details as well. (Below is all Mac, iPad and iPhone apps)

Here is what I do:

Obsidian for general notes, ideas, shopping lists, bookmarks on materials and supplies that I want to try. I also use Omnivore (read it later app) for articles because I can highlight important stuff and it drops it into obsidian for me. (Btw always looking for blogs on design principles and fashion).

Drafts I just discovered this app and I am in love! I put a widget on my lockscreen for ultra quick capture of ideas. Sometimes I just have an idea even on the street walking and I can add a quick note (even using my watch!). So handy.

**Pinterest, retailer homepages, stores, tv shows etc. ** I do look everywhere at (atm) handbags. I study how they are made, proportions etc. In store is great because you can get a real feel for size and a good look at details but I want a pic as well so I often google the brand right there and save the link. Pics I often drop into iCloud files, grouped by what the part is that interests me on the pic e.g straps, bag shapes, closure etc.

Freeform for grouping pictures on a design I am working on. Maybe I saw a shape of a bag and want to make something similar. I put it into a new project there. I start adding text on possible sizing, strap length etc. Maybe I have a closure in mind already, I’ll add the pic of that etc. It grows over a few days, weeks.

Affinity designer I often draw out the pattern or parts of it here. Easy enough to work at it. And I can cut (to a certain size) a pattern with my Cricut (I don’t recommend that machine but that’s another topic). I often copy pics into affinity as well. As a visual reminder of what I am going for.

Off the computer: I have a notebook for drawings ( I am terrible at drawing!) but don’t use it a lot. I make mock up from card stock and poster board. Sometimes a smaller version. Sometimes full sized depends on what I want to figure out.
