This is literally the first time I have seen Things Fall Apart mentioned since high school, 20yrs ago.

Good book, kinda got ruined by the typical over analysation of a HS English class though.

Repeal CAFE standards, or just delete the entire catagory of "light truck". If it doesn't have a bed, its not a fucking truck. This entire fucked situation is literally just automakers not wanting to be bothered to make fuel efficient cars when you can call everything a fucking truck and be mostly exempt from having to comply with the far stricter regulations around smaller passenger vehicles MPG standards.

And the automakers give zero shits since they make so much more selling these larger utterly pointless vehicles rather than smaller, more economical ones.

Al Frankens political career got fully William Wallaced in public view for nothing while Donny Two Scoops raised millions after becoming a convicted felon.

I hate this country most of the time these days.

I have a friend who works in the R* office in Massachusetts. The whole fucking company sounds like an abject nightmare to work for. Between the Stasi-esque HR lady that wanders around making notes of who is at their desks, to the legions of indoctrinated kool-aid drinkers, onto the just bizarre behind the scenes decisions and poor management.

He's been dreading this announcement for a while now, and it may just be the one thing that will rip the scales off the otherwise creepily loyal workers.

Yea, like that would ever in literally any possible incarnation of any possible existence where Apple is a thing happen. Totally.

Weird, cus it literally happened a few months ago:

https://www.neowin.net/news/crowdstrike-broke-debian-and-rocky-linux-months-ago-but-no-one-noticed/

This was in no way a Windows problem, this was entirely a CrowdStrike problem. Claiming otherwise makes you look like an uninformed moron.

Canceling an entire tour, that people already bought tickets and travel for, over a small gaff made off the cuff by someone who has been his friend longer than a large amount of Lemmy has been alive, is fucking cowardice. And this is 100% a PR firms opinion and we will never know whatever JBs true feelings are because, again, hes a coward and will never speak out about it for fears it might upset his money train.

Love my scrap metal with a nice healthy layer of hydrazine.

Boston has a whole road that is the physical manifestation of Chaos.

Storrow Drive. Runs along the Charles and is basically the northern border of the city. It has many underpasses, most of which are low enough to munch moving trucks. Every year around late Aug early Sept when college kids are moving in a few trucks get Storrow'd. It's refered to as The Storrowing. It's a fun time to need to get around the city.

Honestly Storrow is one of the scariest roads in New England, and I used to drive every day to and from work almost the entire length of Memorial which is on the opposite bank of the Charles which is a NARROW four lane road (2*2), with a speed limit that is both probably too high and completely ignored, on top of being almost eternally congested. How I didn't see a horrible wreck every day confuses me still.

tl;Dr: Don't drive in Boston unless your ready for some fun (I love the chaos)

Either way they lie and recruit the same. I'd much rather just punch the Nazis and anyone who sides with them.

On Windows: EarTrumpet

Being able to quickly change audio outputs is awesome, I am always bouncing between headset and speakers. Also the pop up volume mixer is better than the built in one. Been using ET for years and years, can pry it from my cold dead hands.

Iirc he said he planned to ban imported electric cars, so Musk is free to gobble that tiny orange mushroom shaped dick. Need to go do a heroic dose of mushrooms and delete those neural connections now.

Everytime she opens her mouth I feel better about watching the racists her husband courts tear her apart.

Leopards, faces.

I went from years of Pixels to an S22Ultra. The only hard part was that the app drawer is paged instead of scrolling. I just ignore everything Samsung/Bixby and never see it. Seems fine 🤷‍♀️

In elemental school we had to write instructions on how to make a pb&j sandwich. The teacher then acted out your instructions literally, without adding or removing a step. I don't think there was a single sandwich made that day.

Am I crazy or is the example picture of the interlock backwards. Both sides can be turned on, but only one can be off at the same time 😅

I used to haul my four wheeler around in the back of my mom's town and country in high school. It was crazy easy to load and unload since the rear deck was so low. Just pulled the seats out, put a tarp down, setup the ramps and pushed it in since it was such a shallow angle. Worked great, did it a couple dozen times.

Minivans are more useful utility vehicles than most modern trucks and I'll die on this hill. The bed height on modern trucks alone is kind bogglingly idiotic.

I'd love something between an Astrovan and a traditional minivan.

Because the Green Party under Jill Stein exists ONLY to be a spoiler for Democrats.

She has no actual intentions of getting elected, her only goal is to profit from appearing to do so while getting enough attention to fan her enormous ego.

As a caffeine fiend and energy drink afficianado, holy fucking shit that an obnoxious amount of caffeine in a fountain drink imo

I'm with you, this needs to be sold individually in cans not free pourable.

100% this. I was bored and felt like setting money on fire a week ago, and figured I should grab a Series X finally. Went and looked through exclusives and, woof.

I just bought some nice Amano prints instead.

Yea, I got stuck in this horseshit. I was stranded in Baltimore Airport for roughly 24hrs. One of the worst experiences of my life. It was freezing fucking cold and I was dressed lightly. The only reason it was even semi tolerable is because I live in New England, I felt awful for my fellow travelers that were huddling under whatever they had on them when their flights were canceled.

My actual saviour in the whole thing was Amtrak. I was able to get a train out from Bmore straight back to PVD where my car was parked (TFGreen). Honestly, if I could take a train and it be the same price I would do it over planes 100% of the time even with 4x travel times. It was wonderful, I could get up and walk around, had a nice (microwaved) breakfast for not exorbitant prices, the seats were comfy for the entire 6-8hr ride.

The worst part was standing in a line for literally 3hrs to talk to SW agent that could do literally nothing.

And I really fucking glad Southwest has to do something, but this should have been an event that forced THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY to modernize. Since this happened I have seen countless videos explaining how the backend of all these airlines is basically on par with telegrams technology wise and the whole thing is shoestrings and prayers that keeps it together and working interoperably.

"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

Samsung has even cut most of the horseshit out. My S22 had like a few Samsung apps, they live in a folder and I never see them. But that is similar to all of the Apple apps you couldn't remove either (don't know if that's changed, haven't had an iPhone since the 4)

Everyone else has the serious threads of conversation handled, I'm just here to ask if it was entirely necessary to say "quarter-center ago" about something that to a lot of people wasn't THAT long ago. I was in highschool. Going to go oil my creaky joints now.

Kinda like that big infographic of logical fallacies. Honestly there seems to be a core set of like a dozen scams and everything from there is derivative more or less. Kinda love it when I hear of some actually clever way of stealing people's money as opposed to just grift or obvious lies.

It's weirdly cyclical. I remember around when the original Dead Space came out (early iirc) they were acting pretty decently for EA.

The children yearn for the mines...

Not great against hard shelled insects in general. It doesn't phase Junebugs unless you catch them right and they lose some legs but that feels cruel even for stinkbugs.

I have started P5 three times, spent 20+hrs on PS4, rebought Golden played 50+hrs, rebought on Steam, 30+ hours.

Why am I like this 😬😅

I'm just here to +1 Northern Journey. I couldn't put this game down once I started. It's weird AF, and I loved it utterly.

The new(er) Harley Quinn animated series. it's very good. It's got big kite energy.

I don't know this Internet Comment Etiquette dude is, but I am a long time follower of Todd Clorox

I just tried this, holy shit it works perfectly. This is real bad for my productivity.

Dude, literally just reread the whole body preperation scene again like 12hrs ago.

I posted this over on the site that shall not be named, but the WH GiftShop sent an email at 2:06 saying the VP pick is JD Vance:

To be mildly fair to Spotify Car Thing lasted for at least 3yrs. The worst part was, imo, it was really good. Like sure, my phone does voice commands but they work like 1/5 times. Car Thing worked nearly 100%, responded to anyone in the cars voice (pro/con depending on situation lol), and was a nice display for my preAndroidAuto headunit. Honestly I think the biggest mistake was that it was tied to a car, I used it on my desk for a while as a dedicated music control surface and it worked well. If more time went into making it just a universal Spotify controller it would have been much better as a thing. Have it mounted next to your receiver, or slap a battery in it and put it on a coffee table during a party and that would have been cool AF and requires zero phone interactions.

I run UnRAID myself as well. I don't need raw performance, just stupid amounts of storage for my data hoard, and being able to slap in whatever disk has the best $:gb whenever I need to expand has been such a nice change.

I do have a SSD pool to run my containers and separate one for drive caching as well.
