More I read, the more predictable Israeli politics seems.

The outcome always seems to be "what's most beneficial for Netanyahu's survival."

And in this case, its preserving the status quo since he needs that for a coalition, I guess?

Yeah, I feel like people are freaking out and ignoring that Biden (and Trump) are largely the people they surround themselves with, and the policies they push.

They've both been president for years.

No, plenty of nonpartisan and even liberal people were yelling this too. I had no illusions of Biden's age.

America is not just two internet echo chambers... even if it feels like it right now.

We live in a world where Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Camacho is more electable than the candidates we have.

I figured Idiocracy was prescient, but it's coming true awfully fast.

Yeah, I mean we're like lobsters being slow boiled.

This whole situation is mad, but it feels plausible because it's been ratcheted up so gradually.

Can you imagine the country's reaction if they say this 2 decades ago?

Because the election is a popularity contest, and name recognition is everything.

And he's the incumbent. He is president right now.

Oh, they will play this debate in clips forever.

We live in an age of YouTube and tiktok shorts.

Or anyone period.

I then joked that I half expected a woman in a red, white, and blue bikini holding up the round number between each question.

That's the next debate.

Trump's idea, until he backtracks on stage and says he 'never knew this woman.' And Biden's team goes along with it, thinking it will be a distraction, and somehow Biden blurts this out and makes it backfire.

It's like a cherry on top.

It would be dope if this really happened, and they hashed stuff out.

I'm sure the annotations will be intelligent and insightful...

Heh, Korra is literally this, but being royal was a total coincidence. And I guess you could say she "reset" the reincarnation bloodline.

And I guess she subverts it a little too because she finds out so young, and is not shy about it.

And Ozai played with this too, deliberately marrying the descendent (Ursa) of a super special Poo Person (Avatar Roku) in hopes of producing superior children. And it kind of worked.

I get why, but I'm still a little surprised they haven't done it already.

Going to plug Cromite (a continuation of Bromite) for a great Chromium fork with built in adblocking, and no nonsense like Brave or whatever: https://github.com/uazo/cromite

Also great on Android (which it was originally developed for).

Forks maintained by a hero dev are less than ideal (and not sustainable TBH), but this is where we are...

More than just a dispute over data, though, the Wikipedia editors argued that ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt often acts as more of a partisan actor in the Israel-Palestine conversation than a neutral source of information.

Greenblatt has called US anti-Zionist student protesters Iranian “proxies,” compared the Palestinian keffiyeh scarf to a swastika, and praised Elon Musk just days after the Twitter owner endorsed an antisemitic conspiracy theory as the “actual truth” last November.

Is this the story of the world now? Some old rich guy watches a little too much TV/Twitter and sends a major organization off the rails?

...I guess it always has been.

Agreed, this just looks like a miss.

Who knows why, but it doesn't seem like for-profit Game of Thrones.

I grew up in suburban DFW, and King of the Hill is not really an accurate parody...

It's a documentary.

You think I'm kidding, I am not.

No one would vote for them if we did.

Its staying power is really annoying TBH.

I guess it could be worse (AKA everyone just going to Discord instead).

thanks to the whole reincarnation thing it’d presumably be difficult for the avatar to suddenly become evil since every previous avatar would screech at them and for all we know they could just force the avatar state to send the body to its death and exiting the avatar state just before death.

There's an ATLA comic that kind of refutes this, where Aang just straight up shuts out Roku. It's... not the best comic.

Anyway, I think the idea is that the Avatar is fundamentally the same soul reincarnating, the same empathetic petty thief that stood up for anyone that was oppressed. That's just part of their nature, sometimes to a fault. Even Avatars with a screwed up childhood like Kyoshi and Korra turn out that way.

The mitigation is often the plot, where their power isn't particularly useful to solve their problems. A poignant example is when Korra just turns herself into Zaheer to save the Air Nomads, fully expecting to die (though the gravity is not very explicit since it's a kids show, as is true across both TV shows).

, and ONE person is effectively just a god,

Another thing I find amusing is that "common" people just treat the Avatar as some random joe, with lines like "Avatar, huh? We still have one of those?" or Bolin's grandma who clearly holds more reverence for the Earth Queen than the Avatar.

As far as fantasy series go, I think it does a good job of making all the Beautiful Special People feel mundane.

No, it ended when attention optimization and monetization became the objective.

If social media was all "dumb" it would be totally different, though I suppose keeping third party monetization out is always difficult.

Is it that dramatic though? NBC calls it "a widely expected move"

I find it sad that CP2077 isn't "good enough" to get a long chain of DLC while Starfield is.

I guess this is true of many games, but still...

Paralives

That would have been a marketing nightmare lol

But what runs our first? The defender's mana, or how many drones the attacker can afford with fast shipping?

An old Snapdragon 845 phone, lol. A razer phone 2.

It just feels sluggish. Pages render slower, especially larger ones, and it eats more battery, especially with extensions like adblockers running.

It's especially apparent because the RP2 is like the oldest 120hz phone. Bromite (aka chromium) feels like butter in comparison.

Because it makes the line go up?

Sustainability doesn't matter. Musk's hype holds the market value up (in the short term), and kicking him out could tank it from the controversy alone. That's all that matters.

I like to think many investors are buy and hold, long term institutional, Warren acolytes or whatever, but in reality the outlook is just so short for so many people now. What matters is the next day and the next quarter, and they can just bail out after that.

A lot of people suck in the real world.

Makes sense. Thieves filtering for easy marks is probably older than writing.

What is the bot using? ChatGPT?

I think this is a case where it's trying to sugarcoat the summary because the rhetoric is too violent.

Which is really fascinating... Here we have a possible next president of the united states, using rhetoric so extreme it's literally triggering llm guardrails. That's so messed up.

Cross compatible social media?

We really are in the future.

Indeed, though I prefer skipping extensions on mobile because (as said above) native implementations tend to be faster and more power efficient.

Ublock is probably an exception though. It's quite fast.

This is desperately needed

Yeah. Normally I wouldn't care, but when the colonies/galaxies get big, even a 30% TPS hit or whatever starts to feel very painful.

That's just it though, sales are good, it's still getting hype, people are playing it. It doesnt' feel like Cyberpunk gets the same hype and forgiveness as starfield.

I know people have complained about this for every BGS release since Oblivion (and I loved Oblivion), but it really seems egregious this time. Not because its broken but because it's so... blah.

I would note that Rimworld and Stellaris (for me) run much slower in linux than they do on windows, and they are kind of perforamnce sensitive games.

DeSantis's disaster response was good. He did an excellent job the last few hurricane seasons, including when Ian hit us, and he's cognizant of how crooked the insurance companies were, among other things.

Say what you will about everything else (and I have a lot to say, trust me, I would not vote for him), but y'all are just demonizing him because he's a Republican. And, quite fairly, for some destructive party line policies.

Also... y'all haven't seen anything yet. I was in this rain, and again, it's nothing compared to Ian or the upcoming season.

I don't on mobile because it's way too slow.

But I guess that isn't applicable to this post because mobile Chromium doesn't have ublock anyway...

And on linux, I have firefox issues with wayland because of some Nvidia thing. Chromium too, but its less severe and I can actually get GPU acceleration working.
