*Assuming your home instance federates with the instance. Which in most cases is default, but not always (see Beehaw for example)
If you have a micro SD in the slot, and then you take off the back case (which is what I assumed happened here because of the upgrading), it will snap the SD card in half. You just have to remember to remove your card before taking apart the deck
Deep Rock Galactic runs great and is a lot of fun. It is a bit of a battery hog though, so best plugged in or in short bursts.
Boltgun runs fantastic and is a great boomer shooter. The cutscenes don't work without a workaround, but there's 4 total and none of them are important anyway.
Doom Eternal runs beautifully, and is super action-packed and fun. Surprisingly good on the battery too for such nice graphics.
I did, for the enemy scaling mod. It requires making a "Mods" folder in the Witcher folder, and the copying the mod there, no further work. Was easy enough to do in desktop mode with the GUI
I played entirely in handheld mode, and it works fantastic. It does take some getting used to the "language" of the control scheme, but once you do it feels super smooth, and it's impressive how much they were able to fit into a controller layout. Plus Steam Decks modifiable controls go that last mile to make things great (for example, I assigned two back button to zoom in and zoom out, as the default controls for that are kinda slow to use)
Yeah, they upped it when they made it "World of Assassination" and rolled in the first 2 games + freelancer. It was a free upgrade for those that already owned it, and still worth it imo at that price, but it is very strange that they don't even have a small discount for the summer sale
Man, it's not technically on sale, but it hurts a little to see Hitman Absolution recommended when Hitman 3 exists. Not that absolution is bad, but Hitman 3 is just so much better, both in terms of gameplay, content, and freedom. And you basically get 3 games all remastered, plus a Roguelike mode.
So I guess that's my recommendation, even if it's not on sale still worth it lol
Comfort is my #1. I gave away my gaming PC because being able to play games on the couch, or in my bed, or outside on the hammock is fantastic.
Next is portability. Not only for the above, but the ability to travel and everything without compromising my gaming ability is huge. It's helped my homebody self get out and visit more interesting places, since I have the comfort blanket of my games with me.
Controls are third. The medley of buttons handles so much, and the dual track pads are both versatile and make typing at reasonable speeds possible. Plus the ability to remap anything and to make virtual menus has made features that wouldn't be accessible on normal controllers very easy.
I gave up, so many workarounds and reinstalls and everything for nothing. I've refunded and purchased through steam. Luckily someone else in this thread gave me a tip even the steam version is DRM-free, so that's nice
Honestly, same, my buying habits did a full 180 (I use to wait to get a game on GoG, now I never do). But my witcher 3 I had on GoG worked great even if it was a little less convenient, and BG3 seems like a game I'll want to have forever, so I figured why not. Unfortunate that they had to go and give me a reason why not...
Thanks for the hot tip, after spending 10+ hours struggling I'm just refunding and going to get it on steam. Having to zip my own backup is slightly annoying, but much less so than this nonsense
I regularly use 4 wireless Xbox controllers for this exact purpose, and it works great. There's always the occasional Bluetooth quirks, but overall it's seamless
Yep, with both exes, no dice. Currently waiting for my lutris download as a next step to try
Yep found that in my various googles, sadly none of those tricks helped me
I got the Dead by Daylight killer pack, but beyond that I'm stumped. I'm itching to spend money, but nothing is super calling to me. Maybe No Mans Sky, I love space but I usually don't enjoy grindy "make your own fun" type games
I've got several stickers on the back of my deck. The "I Voted" sticker has worn down pretty hard, but I suspect that the sticker quality on that one isn't so high. My other stickers are going strong, and the deck hasn't noticed any problems
Lol nothing like 3% battery warning as you scramble towards the drop pod to really put the fear of Karl in you!
For real though a 25 minute mission easily eats 40%+ of the battery, no idea why it's so energy intensive. Mind you I've done zero tinkering, just playing it out of the box, I'm sure you could juice some more life out of it if you tried
I play it on the deck all the time and it's fine, graphics turned down to potato but they still look decent, and the FPS stays good in all but the most insane of situations (I play on difficulty 8/9, so I'm experiencing the most enemies possible). Only "hard" part is there's no aim assist for controller so the high precision weapons like snipers are harder to use, but that doesn't stop me from trying haha
I live in a co-op, so for me it's nice that I can enjoy my games while still hanging in the common space and getting social interaction as opposed to be squirreled away into my room. And I've even got to revive the LAN party, as I just bring my deck to wherever the other person's setup is!
Still the greatest Roguelike IMO, the variety and unlockables are through the roof, and while RNG is a big part anything can still be overcome with enough raw skill
Seconding Plate Up! It's like overcooked, except the difficulty comes from finding the best ways to run a restaurant, instead of lol-so-random kitchen mechanics. And it's still getting regular content updates too!
I was trying Heroic, but it didn't work. I've installed other games through Heroic and they worked just fine. Currently installing it through Lutris to see if that works for some reason
Nope, nothing, I haven't really modded my deck at all. I did have dexky just for steamgriddb and protondb badges, but I uninstalled both of those and then dexky itself just to be sure and no changes
Still failed :/ If I can ask, when did you get your steam deck? Maybe there's subtle manufacturing differences causing the issue? I got mine Sept 2022
I attempted, it got done downloading most of the BG3 installers, and then.... It all just disappeared? No record of the files or downloads anywhere. Since it took an hour+ I gave up on that angle
Tried this on a fresh install (including new prefix) and no luck. Currently just un and reinstalled heroic itself, and am waiting for my Bauldurs gate download (again), I'll try these steps again once that's done and hope for the best
Bought Portal 1 + 2 for my love, they'd never played them before and they're tied for my all-time favorite game so couldn't pass it up for $1.98. Plus always on the lookout for co-op games to play :D
For me, I finally bought Cyberpunk 2077, although funnily enough I decided to buy it on GoG since they're the actual developers of the game. Is working perfect through Heroic so far, although to be fair I've only made it just past the intro
God, HotS with even a little developer support + steam deck w/ a good controller scheme would bring me back so hard. Still the best Moba imo, so sad it got abandoned
It runs great! Granted I turned all the graphics to minimum, but the game still looks good and runs great. Only problem is if there's just an absurd amount of particle effects it can get a little frame-y, but I play at the second-highest difficulty (so lots of enemies) and frames only happen every 20 matches or so at most
Right? I have the curse where I love being outdoors, but all my hobbies (games, tabletop) only really work indoors. Feeling some sun and a breeze while still playing games I love has been a game changer
Crazy that Binding of Isaac is still in there, it's been years since the last release and it's not really in the public consciousness the same way something like Vampire Survivors is. Fantastic game though, happy to see it continue to succeed
