Every single person I know or meet uses WhatsApp. About 90% of the businesses I interact with use WhatsApp Businesses. My whole family uses WhatsApp.
Moving to another system is going to take a lot a lot of work.

Mate. Trusting a company not to shaft you when you have no alternatives is never a good idea. It is actually really bad.
Companies do not act towards the benefit of the customer. It is always towards a better bottom line, and those decisions many times do not have your best interest at heart. If you have no choices, the companies have no incentive to make your experience any better. (see Internet Explorer). Competition is always a good thing. It forces companies to be better. The key word there is forces because they will not do it on their own.
I had this happen to me last year (kidney stone). Holy shitballs on crutches. It was the most pain I have ever been in. And I have had all sorts of injuries and surgeries. This topped it all by far far far. I actually passed out from the pain. I was in the ER with pain managing medication for about 6 hours and then 1 minutes to the next gone. Not like oh it's receding... Gone like it was never there. And I felt 100% fine after. I felt embarrassed because I still had a bunch of doctors looking out for me and I was fine.
Oh and if you are a human with balls, the pain also radiates to this zone and it feels like someone is kicking you in the balls repeatedly with no rest between kicks. It suuuuucks.
And before you say 'feels like labor' naaaah I talked to several moms who have had many kids and they also agree. This is waaay worse.

These things behave really strangely as compared to other bugs. I found one on my yard the other day and as I walked by, I saw it was following me with its head. I went back and forth to make sure I wasn't imagining it. Nope it was intensely looking at me. So I thought... Perhaps it's just assessing a predator and keeping it in sight is a useful survival instinct. Then the mofo jumped at my face. Calculated jump and attack. I grabbed it and put it in a turned over glass and it was pissed at me and continued to stare me down. I had some friends over and they looked into the glass too but nah thing wasn't looking at them. It was looking at me and it looked pissed. I fed her a moth that was flying around by putting it inside the glass with it thinking... Its not going to attack the moth, mantis is probably terrified. Not a time to eat. So I thought. Damn thing proceeded to eat the head of the moth while it kept looking at me in disdain. I had to let the thing go. It was too sentient to be squashed as a bug. So I freed it later that night and made sure I closed the garden door behind me. I don't want that thing strangling me in my sleep.
Just so you guys know, Mexico did away with DST last year. It's been great not changing the clock twice a year.

It's a matter of numbers. Like sports. You get the best by having a large pool of possible posts to rise to your attention. Reddit gets a bunch of posts that never get read. Lemmy we read pretty much all of them. There are some good posts here and there in Lemmy but not to the level of reddit. And until Lemmy gets reddit numbers it will suffer from "athletes" from small towns vs athletes from big cities. No contest.
Why is this good news? I mean the guy is a dick but that technology is a joint effort of hundreds or even thousands of hard working engineers and workers. It also works. It gets internet to pretty much all the globe. This is a success on its own. I mean of course that pricing and fuck you moves by Elon tarnish it but under no circumstances should we celebrate the failure of such a technological accomplishment.

It is a developing technology. Good that they find these decrements in accuracy early so that they are understood and worked out. My Samsung phone does have that feature in the My Files app that comes pre installed. I don't use it because File Manager+ is so much better. And I have access to my SFTP, LAN and NAS. I am not associated with the app. Just enjoy it and recommend it because I find it very useful.

Has anyone in their 30s 40s 50s had a sudden change of perception of our own mortality? I found myself thinking a lot about it recently (no significant events around me). Absolutely right. I would not judge you if I saw you at the supermarket. But this dude is the face of a fashion and beauty brand. They are pushing this body type (rarely occurs naturally in healthy folks like you) and mostly occurs on people with health problems. In a way they are pushing a non healthy image to many people that are not like you. I would even dare to say you are a very minuscule porcentage of people with this body type that are 100% healthy so this is being pushed to folks that have lovehandles and now they hate themselves.

Demand will never wane. It is human nature. It's like yelling really loud "stop being hungry humans!" I think the analogy is that it sets a precedent. Now the other companies see how you can pee in the pool and folks are either cool with it (buy) or are on the other end (not buy but meh). Now the pool standard is piss filled pool and we will never have a chance to get into a clean pool anymore.

Try Power Toys. It's made by Microsoft and the Power Toys community and it's free. It has a module to rebind keys just like AHK and it works really well with no admin access. It has a bunch of other nifty tools. I love it.
