FreshRSS, news and websites fetched your way. You can even create feeds for websites that don't provide one

I quite like using K-9 Mail, it merged with Thunderbird and great things are coming for it, I think it's awesome

Solving the Rubik's cube

You either get into speedcubing and get high end cubes to improve your performance, at least of the official categories and a couple must haves like the Mirror cube.

And / Or

You start collecting cubes and puzzles of all kinds and shapes (yes, even non-cubical :o). You start to acquire custom cubes built by hand by artesians or niche brands.

For the love of what's good in this world, stick to that one budget MJC set of competitive cubes until you are actually 10 or 20 seconds behind the world record

To be honest you can get Cave Story for free already since it's open source and in many distro repos. Also I think the publishers kinda ripped off the original creator so the guy who actually put the work making this masterpiece isn't getting anything

Well you can install it locally and get the web interface via localhost, but if it's a proper server you can access the news from your sources from anywhere and you can also use 3rd party apps in your phone to get a different interface via the API

FreshRSS is what I use and I can create my own feeds using X path, it's kinda great but too much to explain. I wrote a blog about it.

Stick to local stuff, no need to open ports at all. I got myself a Raspberry Pi and I just have it next to my router.

Once I felt like using it outside my network, instead of opening ports and doing complicated stuff that didn't work cuz I am behind a Nat, I just used Tailscale instead, it's a private VPN that is free for a limited amount of devices (like 10 or more I think so it's fine for you and family). It's the best easiest thing ever

Anything that can be emulated on a PSP is retro to me, because that's where I emulate most things

To be fair actually sick effects and attacks would probably take like 30 seconds per turn. Looking at you final fantasy VII

The Xiaomi Poco F5 Pro, its bootloader can be unlocked and it's fairly powerful. I am sure a good rooting and modding community will come out of it.

However, the unlocking process can take a couple weeks which is not great, also MIUI by default sucks.

The Pixel line is always pretty good for custom roms and stuff

I completely disagree, the device feels really sturdy, I own both a PSP and a Switch and if you ask me I think the switch is more flimsy. The only thing that ages the PSP imo is the UMD reader and the lack of a second joystick, but I still love the design today

Well, it is a proprietary format after all

Unless you already have it, to be honest

I have never seen anyone caring about usernames in reddit, I expect the same here, I just want a cool short handle, I'll get my cool short handle, not because that's me but because I want a cool, short, handle

I don't play long enough to run out of it, maybe 3 or 4 hours? I should do some tests. It's still the original one though

Sadly no, it's from the warp gate effect from Chrono Trigger. Best game of all time

I recommend trying the apps, especially wefwef.app

I made a blog about this. Make sure to follow it via RSS too ;)

You should get into Personal websites' RSS feeds. I recommend checking #100DaysToOffload if you have Mastodon or similar, they are pretty much small blogs done by people just trying to write about stuff, nothing too serious, but entertaining

Hmm. AntennaPod supports syncing with Next loud via a Gpodder's API, if each kid gets its own next loud account it should work fine

That's fair! I joined apollo.town because it's small and tidy, not a lot of local communities but following stuff from there ain't that slow

Check out tailscale, the best tool ever to access a server without opening ports or doing hard stuff

You're already pretty crazy so, maybe Piped or YouTube Local

Yep, there's a lot of juice left on mine, such a huge library and the emulation options are great too

Yep, quite a lot of potential especially with microsd card adaptors

The only one that feels cheap is the PSP street, but the others are built to last. 11 years of use is no joke and the buttons still work great on mine

Tachiyomi is absolutely fantastic, so powerful and well made

AntennaPod, WhatsApp, Solid Explorer

Well they are not that expensive just yet. I would grab one, I am actually planning on getting another one just for the sake of it

You speak truth

These are definitely up there for me too but I prefer K9 Mail

Heyo, same here

Oh yeah, I got into manga last year and its a whole new world. Its awesome, quick to read and has some really unique stories, you may not have asked for it but here are some recommendations lol

The Boxer: This is a manhwa (korean, colored and also mobile friendly), its about boxing but its so good and so beautiful to read. A must in my opinion.

Kingdom: This is my recommended 700+ chapters series to get into, skip One Piece and Hunter X Hunter, this manga is about the unification of China and while the art is a bit rough the story, war and tactics is absolutely insane, it only gets better.

Eyeshield 21: You don't care about american football? Me neither, but the art here is done by Murata, a master in this field, and the characters are lovable, a bit old and aged but great.

One Punch Man: You already know what this is about, and its awesome. Murata draws it too and its still going

Solo Leveling: Another Manhwa, this is all about fantasy and an OP main character versus a world of giant creatures and dungeons. Absolutely insane art and crazy story, pretty fun read, I flew through it.

Claymore: You heard of Attack on Titan and stuff, this came before it and its fairly similar but also totally different, the art is also insane but the fights can be a bit hard to follow sometimes. Still, great story, dark fantasy at its best

Sakamoto Days: Jhon Wick but he has a family and he got a bit fat after retiring, very funny but sick action

So anyways there you go, I hope you have a good time if you read any of them

yeah but I kinda dislike cloudflare. Tailscale is based on wireguard which is cool

My most used would be

Tusky

Tachiyomi

Activity watch

AntennaPod

Droidify

Signal

Librera Reader

K-9 Mail

KeepassDX

Bromite
