How long until Google says "fuck it" and outright starts banning adblock users? Considering how deep a lot of people are into the Google ecosystem, this is potentially devastating. Imagine losing access to you email, photos, etc., with no way to appeal. Good luck if you want to actually speak to anyone human at Google.

You can also use emojis in computer and user names in active directory. Trust me, the network guys love it!

This method is far older than that, and it keeps popping up every so often as a "new" attack. First time I read about this method was in the early 2000's, and I'm pretty sure it been done before that as well.

It's cool how most here seem to be older, I was almost expecting people to name drop Skyrim and make me feel like a dinosaur lol.

I used to love the text-based adventures, like "Adventure" and I believe one was called "Humbug". Even learned C programming at a young age in an attempt to make my own.

Enjoyed the Hugo trilogy too. Wasn't a big fan of side-scroller games but I fondly remember Secret Agent, Duke Nukem I+II and Commander Keen.

My real love was RPGs, specifically Ultima VII.

Nicotine isn't the only addictive substance in cigarettes. As someone who has quit both cigs and vaping, it was by far easiest to quit vaping. It absolutely sucked - but nothing compared to going off tobacco. I still get massive cravings if I smell someone smoking nearby.

Yeah, and a net loss of a bit over $1B. Revenue ≠ money in the bank.

I was taught that dividing the numbers naturally into thirds:

I II III IIII (all I)
V VI VII VIII (all start with V)
IX X XI XII (all contain X)

Visually looks more "balanced" than having an extra V

After the blackout, who knows, but once they paywall the third party apps I'm betting Spez and his "snoos" are going to feel it a lot more than a silly little 2-day blackout. For many, myself included, the official reddit app is not an option whatsoever.

There's plenty of stories online like this one. It's all automated and if it decides you're bad, you're out. No questions asked, no appeals.

Google search it up and you'll find many more.

Same in Norway, unsurprisingly, but we do say 14 0 0 (fjorten null null) if making it clear that we mean 1400 exact. Otherwise like you said, klokken 14 or klokken 2.

You'd love what one of my local stores does then - they give you the option to register your fingerprints after they check your ID for when you want to buy booze in the self checkout!

Did some digging and the full name is "Colossal Cave Adventure", though was commonly just called "Adventure"
Was the first well-known game of that type.

This is so common that I've actually started second-guessing myself when I write '90s

You don't.

What is actually the point of that drop down? I mean, obviously to select the language you're using, but why?

I don't have it handy, but I came over a github repo showing the different prompts that for example ChatGPT and Bing use - and realized right away why Bing AI is so bad in comparison. MS seems to not know how to write a good prompt, and it show in the quality of their product. Plus the fact that you couldn't even save Bing chat conversations for the longest time, I'm not surprised they're not ahead.

Alright so this seems a good a place as any to ask dumb questions... This almost feels like the 90's and using the internet for the first time 🤣

So, I'm viewing this post on lemmy.world, but the content itself is from beehaw.org, simple enough. What happens if beehaw.org is unavailable, let's say permanently shut down, right now? Is the past content still available on other instances or does it just poof? Could I still view this post one day, week, month, year after a shut down? Could I still comment? The image itself I see is hosted directly on the beehaw instance so that obviously depends on a stable instance.

no one actually gives a fuck

Considering the fuss people make about gender neutral terms, as well as the whole master/slave, blacklist/whitelist thing, I'd say it's not totally improbable.
