first two things come to mind:

water-cooler conversations at work would be different. telecommuting may be an important option during the season.

My shiny seashell collection may be in jeopardy. the ladies love seashells 🐚.

I suppose it depends on how you determine best, but emulation is gonna be the cheapest and easiest.

Im very interested in getting a Nintendo Watch and Play - Zelda edition to play it on there. apparently the audio is better on the Japanese version of the game and the WnP allows you to choose what audio you want to play with as well as the language. though I’m site there is a modded rom you could emulate that does the same thing.

otherwise you can pick it up on Nintendo online shop, physical NES or the GBA classic rerelease cartridge.

i vaguely recall the retail box version of silent hill 2 or 3 for PC being not all that amazing, and later emulating the Ps2 version was a better option, not to mention the easiest option since both games for PC are not common finds. then again the PC I played Silent hill 2 on wasn’t all that beefy at the time.

maybe any games that originally were for console ported to PC with Denuvo hit this criteria. interesting question!

Thanks for jogging my memory! I completely forgot about that core fact 😓.

While I wouldn't recommend this avenue… A trip to the ER and a 2 week quarantine stay at the hospital. I had pancreatitis that was suspected to be caused by a contagious virus? Idk after I was placed in my room I wasn't allowed visitors and I was pretty isolated aside from blood draws every 4 hours. Cliché but it allowed me to reflect on my life and identify faults in myself and devise ways to become a better.

Still working on a lot of things, but comparing myself to me 6 months ago, I feel amazing about my growth that I don't think I could have otherwise achieved without this major life event. :)

dvd and bluray are so goshdarn cheap that my wife and I thought to just buy everything we like watching physically. yeah we still have to rent new things every so often, but we generally just watch completed series or older movies.

we did an activity called ‘the vault’ where we identified ~800 movies/series that we could just live with forever. Now that the list was made its been the fun casual game of hunting for the best deal.

for instance, we like horror and we found all Blu-rays of the nightmare on elm street for like $15, all Halloween movies for ~$30, original star trek complete series $25.

I am predicting that our 800 works will cost somewhere around $2000? i winced at seeing that price, but spreading it over a few years of searching (we like trying to find our copies at local used stores) i think it isn’t too bad! plus its another activity for me and my wife to do.

Simply realizing that “wow we should just buy the stuff we watch on repeat” has been good for the monthly expenses. yeah we miss out on some exclusive stuff, but honestly there is just so much good shit out there from the past. i can certainly wait for that exclusive stuff to go on sale or finish up its finale so i can resub for a month to binge it.

certainly not laying out all the pros and cons of doing it, but i think the adventure of rediscovering physical media again has been showing is more pros than cons.

i had a similar instance. when i was younger ~10 i remember waking up scared by a nightmare around midnight. i decided i’d go to my sisters room because she was likely still up and i didn’t want to wake my parents.

her room was on the second floor so i had to quietly run in the dark and up the stairs as to not disturb my parents.

when i got to the steps i began hearing a crowd of people and with each step up the stairs it got louder and louder. i recall it being one of the loudest things i’ve ever heard. at the landing of the stairs it was so loud i collapsed onto the door handle and swing it open. then just like that the noise stopped and it was silent.

my sister was up watching a movie and looked over curious to why i made such a dramatic entrance. i don’t recall ever saying anything i just curled up on her floor watching a movie until i fell asleep.

i’m in my 30s and i still think about that event at least once a year and it still gets my heart pumping! thankfully it has never happened since.

“Kiss Me” by Sixpence None The Richer

love to know how people interpret a “girl” song. my mind is all over the place atm trying to classify songs and artists. like, is Taylor Swift the bakery of girl songs? does boss bitch / bad bitch energy count within the realm of girl songs? etc.

Oh i am very aware that you are 100% correct in both areas of efficiency and value!

However, I just really like the activity of searching for them at garage sales, flea markets, estate sales, used media stores, etc. if it takes me a while, so be it. ill just rewatch what i already have.

I haven’t been to many places, but i really enjoyed Washington DC. I walked all over and saw many embassies, experienced most of the free museums, saw many monuments, and learned that it could get so humid in the summer that I would have to buy new clothes lol. historic buildings and decent public transportation. The restaurants in the area i was were amazing. many fond memories to look back on. i intend to visit again with my wife and kids eventually.

Champions of Norrath on PS2. I played through the entire game with my dad and it was the most fun I ever him.my mother said he used to play video games all the time, but then stopped (having kids probably does this to many). So when he said he’d play the game with me i was very excited. i only wish i could have found the games sequel, return to arms, before heading off to college. that would have been a summer to remember.

i don’t know why he never shared his love of video games with either me or my sisters. some dads are weird like that. i bought him a series s for the holidays and while i don’t think he plays it, he enjoys watching his grandkids play.

generally ice water, but i also like Pocari sweat if its on hand.

i don’t know the specifics, but i feel they’re just synonyms and they share the same age range they’d represent. in terms of subgroup, id say infant is a subgroup of child based on what i hear and say. Like i wouldn’t say i have an infant baby id just say baby. Or i don’t have a baby child, i have an infant child. 🤷‍♂️

I got my 3ds LL from ali. works as expected and can play JP and US regions. its also white and it was pretty cleaned up when i received it. ive played through star fox a few times and I am halfway through OOT. approaching a year of ownership.

Ive bought a few handhelds and only had a DSi go bunk on me.

at this point amazon, etsy and other large online retailers/resellers serve the same stuff as aliexpress does, just with better shipping and return policy.

I really appreciate the long response and in particular the games manual. After reading through it, a lot more makes sense. Thanks!

certainly sounds like a fair explanation! don’t you just love how our brain works?

I stopped my xfinity mobile because the service was absolutely dreadful. id have either full bars or none and id always have my friends ragging on my connection to Discord. The conspiracy i had in my head was that i was never using cell service but rather the xfinity service would bounce you around their local wifi spots to provide you service whether you had wifi services on or not. probably not true but it surely felt like it.

Tried Mint and it worked just ok. it was nice because at the time i was using an android soap phone and didn’t need much data.

Recently switched my wife and I to Visible plans. even though it is the same coverage as xfinity mobile and uses the Verizon network, it is a night and day difference in connection quality. at 25 a line, i’m happy with visible. i recall my xfinity lines were 30 each after any ‘deals’.

Really appreciate all the comments and personal experiences with the game! Happy to feel I wasn't the only one who had an initial hard time.

i learned my lesson on killing innocents when accidentally walked into the star station and they fine me all of my nuyen… still loving the game but i think I’m going to restart again with all the fresh new knowledge.

genesis seemed the way to go for this game (for my first experience). always interesting in the genesis snes console era where, despite the names of the games and their IP being the same, the experiences were very different. would love to see that confusion happen in the modern console generation haha.

thanks again!

I feel like many have a similar story. for me it was my n64 for PS2 games.

i think using node and express.js is very approachable in serving your web content. https://expressjs.com/

following the hello world example on their site will help clarify how everything clicks together.

i know u said this is a project for learning, but static site hosting is pretty cheap and may provide less headaches as you’re learning. sites like porkbun offer it for $3 USD and i think even github has a free way tp host a static site. idk what running a computer at home would cost monthly in electricity.

didn’t know about the power set. super cool bundle and the box for it is awesome. did it come with the track and field game?

very true. there really something liberating about about self hosting.

they must have done it or the system they refurbed had it done. i thought i initially when i was buying it i was getting a 3ds xl but arrived as an ll
