Haha... I wasn't wrong when choosing lemmy.ml as my lemmy server 😉
Debian 69?
It's not unusual to see people talking about android users being Linux users "because android is Linux too" clearly not understanding the difference between Linux the OS, i.e. GNU/Linux, and Linux the kernel. So it's useful when you have to make such a distinction.
You should try lemmy, it's almost everything what you describe you are missing. Jokes aside, I think that what you refer is mainstream internet, which like music is usually shitty if it's mainstream, to find the good stuff you have to take your time to dig deeper. Internet is an incredible tool and it's being used both to enslave and to free people.
Debian is the first choice if you look for stability and the last choice if you are looking for the latest versions of the software.
Amazing but more usual that one might think, it's the same anger you can see in people that identity themselves with some other fictions like religion, nationalism, football teams, ideology, race, etc. When watching a movie you kind of temporarily turn off your disbelief to experience joy, sadness, anxiety etc but when the movie is over the healthy behavior is the recognition that everything was an acting. But with the fictions that I just described somehow the disbelief is never turned on, the critical thinking is canceled.
Using a smartphone today is like buying a house and discovering that is full of cameras and microphones spying you. Would you accept thtat?
Be prepared for KYC in github. MS would love it.
Does it support playlists or at least a list of videos in the video link?
Still on 6.1.0-17 and nothing shows up after sudo apt update.
Yeah, I use MPV as a external player and it's great because you can highly customize the way you watch videos. I like equalize the sound and through a MPV script I save the video from cache with a keystroke if I liked it. Sadly watching with subtitles stopped working some weeks ago.
How do you that in OSMAnd? Would love to collaborate.
I installed Jerboa a month ago and everytime I try to login it crashs. Installed from F-droid on Lineageos.
Capitalism just means stuff can be >privately owned
This is the antithesis of free software. FOSS can not be owned. Patents and copyright are essential to capitalism. You are not allowed to copy and redistribute Adobe Photoshop, nor the music of your favorite band, movies, books, etc etc
I'm already using one that doesn't require proprietary firmware, but it's Bluetooth version 1.1 which it has its limitations
It's mini PC that I manage to have it working only with FOSS, even the bluetooth, but it's a dongle with Bluetooth version 1.1 and I want to upgrade but keeping the system with FOSS.
For me f-droid and debian are the gold standard concerning trusted free software.
It's a mini PC, no PCI or m.2 extension, it's connected to the internet through cable, but I also have WiFi dongle and a Bluetooth dongle that don't require proprietary firmware, but the Bluetooth version is only 1.1 which its limitations and I want to upgrade.
And so on. I hated them all since forever and knew somthing is not quite right with them. The only cases I was shocked was James Franco and Kevin spacey.
Seems you hate many people... may be it is just confirmation bias.
Calling it crypto won't make people understand. Watching the video will help people to understand, the why and the how. They don't necessarily have to agree with the solution but the most important thing is understanding the problem because too many people are still unaware of it.
Great. XP in my case.
breaking asses bad
Linux,KDE,Bitcoin,F-droid and everything built around them.
He is clearly talking about the problems with Linux the OS, i.e. GNU/Linux, not with Linux the kernel, which is what Android is based on. So Android users don't count as Linux OS users. Besides that, I've been using Debian+KDE for over a decade as a daily driver and never had any such issues, It's hard for me to remember a single issue of importance.
I use Debian+KDE but I'd love there was a KDE Neon Debian Edition, Ã la Mint.
Jiddu Krishnamurti - Life Ahead (talks to students)
"One of the causes of fear is ambition, is it not? And are you all not ambitious? What is your ambition? To pass some examination? To become a governor? Or, if you are very young, perhaps you just want to become an engine-driver, to drive engines across a bridge. But why are you ambitious? What does it mean? Have you ever thought about it? Have you noticed older people, how ambitious they are? In your own family, have you not heard your father or your uncle talk about getting more salary, or occupying some prominent position? In our society - and I have explained what our society is, everybody is doing that, trying to be on top. They all want to become somebody, do they not? The clerk wants to become the manager, the manager wants to become something bigger, and so on and so on - the continual struggle to become. If I am a teacher, I want to become the principal; if I am the principal, I want to become the manager. If you are ugly, you want to be beautiful. Or you want to have more money, more saris, more clothes, more furniture, houses, property - more and more and more. Not only outwardly, but also inwardly, in the so-called spiritual sense, you want to become somebody, though you cover that ambition by a lot of words. Have you not noticed that? And you think it is perfectly all right, don't you? You think it is perfectly normal, justifiable, right.
Now, what has ambition done in the world? So few of us have ever thought about it. When you see a man struggling to gain, to achieve, to get ahead of somebody else, have you ever asked yourself what is in his heart? If you will look into your own heart when you are ambitious, when you are struggling to become somebody, spiritually or in the wordily sense, you will find there the worm of fear. The ambitious man is the most frightened of men, because he is afraid to be what he is. He says, "If remain what I am, I shall be nobody, therefore I must be somebody, I must become a magistrate, a judge, a minister". If you examine this process very closely, if you go behind the screen of words and ideas, beyond the wall of status and success, you will find there is fear; because the ambitious man is afraid to be what he is. He thinks that what he is in himself is insignificant, poor, ugly; he feels lonely, utterly empty, therefore he says, "I must go and achieve something". So either he goes after what he calls God, which is just another form of ambition, or he tries to become somebody in the world. In this way his loneliness, his sense of inward emptiness - of which he is really frightened - is covered up. He runs away from it, and ambition becomes the means through which he can escape.
So, what is happening in the world? Everybody is fighting somebody. One man feels less than another and struggles to get to the top. There is no love, there is no consideration, there is no deep thought. Or society is a constant battle of man against man. This struggle is born of the ambition to become somebody, and the older people encourage you to be ambitious. They want you to amount to something, to marry a rich man or a rich woman, to have influential friends. Being frightened, ugly in their hearts, they try to make you like themselves; and you in turn want to be like them, because you see the glamour of it all. When the governor comes, everybody bows down to the earth to receive him, they give him garlands, make speeches. He loves it, and you love it too. You feel honoured if you know his uncle or his clerk, and you bask in the sunshine of his ambition, his achievements. So you are easily caught in the ugly web of the older generation, in the pattern of this monstrous society. Only if you are very alert, constantly watchful, only if you are not afraid and do not accept, but question all the time - only then will you not be caught, but go beyond and create a different world."

Great job! What about mentioning the bot in the response to a comment that has a Wikipedia link.
Honestly I was expecting far more downvotes. I posted the video with people like you in mind, who still can think critically without the burden of misinformation and ideology.
Great job! thanks for your effort. It seems that it overrides the default settings of mpv. I tried adding options in the box in the settings like --volume=50 but it doesn't work.
Besides the solution proposed, the video excels at explaning how we reached the current mess in the economy.
Awesome, thanks!
One of the biggest misconceptions about bitcoin is that it's a neoliberal/libertarian thing. Thinking this way only shows lack of understanding. A famous short video from the most respected bitcoin educator will make understand better. https://youtu.be/ywO0r_Fz0lc
And about the environmental concerns Lyn Alden has a post that deals with all the misinformation. If you are really interested take the time to read it, it's exhaustive. https://www.lynalden.com/bitcoin-energy/
do you see how easily you are manipulated with misinformation? That's why people don't stop talking stupid things about bitcoin. She doesn't say that in any moment. She says higher highs and higher lows, which is true and doesn't mean allways increasing.
If you kill 5% of the population every year from 1933 to 1945, how much of the initial population >you end up killing?
This is the simple math problem you stated and the answer is 46%, not 60%. Nobody does the calculation the way you do. Or you think that a simple math problem has two contradictory answers? Show me a single example that someone does the calculation the way you do to answer such a problem, you have the whole internet. I accept my error if you find it.
EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW. In the the next issue of Linux Magazine Torvalds talks about the new default in the single click behavior of Plasma: "KDE, fuck you"
Amazing. I feel exactly the same about modern documentaries and I expressed the same dislikes about them just a few weeks ago. Have you checked out DW Documentary Youtube channel? In case you haven't it has good documentaries and sometimes exceptionally good, very informative and eye opening, all without fancy effects, just the raw subject matter. These two are recent ones that I really liked:
Climate Change - A verting catastrophe
another channel that I like is Veritasium, it's about science and not really documentaries but worth to check out due to its quality.
Great, thank you!
Libgen.rs (books for free) By doing without reading you are at risk of not understanding the meaning of what you are doing.
Yeah, that's exactly the problem, thanks for the better wording.
How many years until they run out of characters?
