Its actually quite disgusting - monetising on top of people doing voluntary work with zero pay.

it’s sad that replaceable batteries got extinct in just a few years. In my opinion replaceable battery is a great selling point and I know I’m not the only one so I’m surprised that the market are not able to provide this..
Especially now a days when phones have stagnated and having a 5 year old phone is nothing strange anymore.

I used to have a replaceable battery to my old LG G3 and it was great to just swap batteries and directly having a fully charged phone. Now I always have to have power banks or try to charge up during train rides or whatever and having to worry that I don’t have enough juice

The best analogy I heard so far is email; everyone gets that you can send an email from gmail to outlook. We are just not used to that websites can interconnect with each other but give it some time and it will be second nature to people

This is a great start. I think a first goal should not be to replace big tech, but the create thriving alternatives. You should not have to feel that you are missing out by not using facebook, twitter, instagram, reddit etc. And with Mastodon/Lemmy/kbin we are getting there even if it is very very early still.

I work in tech and even for me it took a few minutes to grasp that kbin and lemmy instances could all communicate with each others. If you’re used to the centralized web then it might be foreign that kbin can read lemmy content etc. It’s like saying instagram can be used to access Twitter for a normal person.

But for now I don’t think the normal user has to be the priority. They will learn when they have to move to be able to access the content they are after

Its understandable that (some) people have this view, they just want to enjoy the content they are used to.
But what I think they are missing is that there are a lot of people that put in a lot of effort in making free content to everyone else, and when a large group of the contributors are upset then this user's "free content" gets worse.
As a user you just have to accept that everyone will not have the same view as you and move on to another place where you can look at funny pictures or whatever.
