i just wanted to thank you for doing your best to fix lemmy.world as soon as possible.

but please, don't feel forced to overwork yourselves. i understand you want to do it soon so more people can move from Reddit, but i wouldn't like that Lemmy software and community developers overwork and feel miserable, as those things are some of the very motives you escaped from Reddit in first place.

in my opinion, it would be nice that we users understand this situation and, if we want lemmy so bad, we actively help with it.

this applies to all lemmy instances and communities, ofc. have a nice day you all! ^^

hello, comrades. thanks a lot for your effort. just to be sure, is this community maintained by the same staff from r/Piracy? i deleted my Reddit account months ago and i can't check it out myself... ^^U

it's a bit hypocritical that big companies complain about piracy when they are no better than Blackbeard, xxx-sama and Akainu combined.

i mean, they have hijacked the system so they can set the rules, their lawyers are law crackers, they take advantages of artists to buy their copyright for pennies and making millions of it, they scam us with DLC's, fees, dark patterns; they steal our private info, images, text creations, etc. to sell it or use it for AI development; and they also limit our access to the internet and technology by banning third party apps, modding, using anything related to their patents...

sorry but if i was a law enforcer, they would be the first ones i would chase after.

just passing by, just wanted to say i liked your content a lot.

  • your username, 'Charles Darwin'.
  • the 'checks notes', bc you feel like a tired medician raising a brow when reading the umpteenth diagnosis report of 'stupidity' in this world.
  • the 'i hate this timeline', bc our actions made us end in one of the world's bad ends.

so please, take my upvote and my upcomment, and have a nice day.

aa, thank you for replying and confirming! :)

that's very sad, i'm sorry.

one may feel unsupported because others don't have enough courage to leave Reddit, leaving you alone with this, which perhaphs is more difficult than moderating r/Piracy without mods.

Might even feel outrageous if they joined later only in case Lemmy is a success thanks to the people here, but i don't know.

i find you people very brave and forward-looking, thank you all for your effort <3

it's admiration, not necrophilia! Charles Darwin is dead!

this is interesting indeed! could we help via donations?

that's funny, because if they rely on AI to serve them, they will the first ones to be screwed. the most replaceable human class in the History is not plebs, but tyrants. they are the least prepared, the least talented, the least creative, the least reliable, the least resourceful, and finally, the least willing to contribute something to any compilation. so let them have fun while they can.

i wonder if we will end using personal webpages with FOSS/affordable domains and integration to forums and video platforms, just to avoid some crazy CEO screwing our content again.

i think social media was good, but we gave the CEOs too much power over our content and accounts.

so... we went from "social media is where society creates media" to "social media is where tech CEO's control and keep society's media hostage".

ikr? some years ago, a classmate laughed at me for not wanting to give my credit card to Google to watch a YouTube video with age restriction.

he called me "conspiranoic", "hysterical" and stuff, and i was just like "why do i have to give my credit card to watch a freaking video?".

he was the typical "i don't have anything to hide" guy. he said "it's not a big deal, they already have lots of info about us, why do you care at this point lol".

and i am ashamed i got influenced by them and days after, when that restriction appeared again for other videos i searched myself, i ended giving my credit card number.

and he was like making fun of it, like "see? i was right and you did it".

damn, he was so annoying.

(sorry for this, pal. it was just to say that people gladly share their data to mega corporations, and press us to do the same by calling us conspiranoic).

so true, pal! slowly, with patience, no rushing, putting love into it, organizing ourselves, working smart is better than working hard and fast.

because of the federated nature of fediverses like Lemmy, it is very possible that many people are doing the very same task without even knowing they are duping each other's efforts.

and that's sad because if they knew, they could be teaming up, or splitting the task in two, in order to avoid wasting different efforts into dupe results.

i have learnt a thing or two about burnout, it's better for me to make 40% planning, and 40 % self-care and so the 20 % of execution becomes piece of cake.

but this is just my opinion. anyway, please take care, pals <3

i can confirm the medicine shortage, not just in psychatric recently, but in other pharma fields, along the years.

our Latin American brothers and sisters in Spain were doing their best to send medicines to their families in LATAM. you could also see people asking on Twitter for medicines. iirc it was commented on the news too.

here in Spain we also have public healthcare, and we all people pay for those medicines so individuals don't have to assume all the cost on their own. pandemic has shown our healthcare system is not as good, public and clean as our corrupt politicians tend to say, but still, we think public healthcare is the way to go.

in Spain abortion is legal since many years, but a year ago or so, in a region of Spain, a extreme right-wing party wanted to create a regional law to make women asking for abortion feel guilty.

medicians would be obligated to ask women "before aborting, would you want to listen to your baby's heartbeat, or that we take a 4D radiography of them?".

the women could refuse, but the medicians would be obligated to ask. this extreme right-wing party tried to push this regional law proposal in an attempt to push antiabortion agenda bypassing the national abortion law.

this right-wing party wanted to make women feel guilty of their abort decision, as if many many women hadn't had enough guilt, doubt and sadness when asking for abortion bc they aren't in the position of having a baby (see our emancipation, salary and unemployment rates), or they weren't even in a position of conceiving in first place (rape, mental suffering, codependency, drug abuse, etc.). this political party wanted to take advantage on these women's situation of vulnerability. that's horrible.

(also in that region, big part of medicians and population overall were known of being right-wing and sexist. that's how this right-wing party got power to propose this law).

fortunately, it seems we have progressed, to the point many medicians were the most angry at this, and them, along with feminists (many are both), and citizens in general didn't allow this law to happen in this region of Spain.

but sorry for digressing, the main point is that many people in Spain are very happy for Mexico. we wish you the best. we hope our LATAM siblings get the progress and independence they wish and deserve. we are on it too here. let's do this 💪

thank you for your reply. yes, i agree with your comment.

it's like internet freedom is a forever refugee in constant diaspora, as it is always forced to exile itself from the places conquered by economic and sociopolitic warmongers who only seek profit and population control.

all the time, over and over. one jump every few years.

but we will make it! ^^

hello, i tried changing from Outlook to Thunderbird some months ago, but i found the UI very confusing and complex. does any of you feel the same?

is there some way to simplify the UI to make it look more like Outlook with no ad crap? i tried looking for UI addons, but aside of dark mode, i didn't find one.

would you guys recomend a FOSS email client that you feel comfortable with?

thank you for reading!

in my country, i was asked for my ID card, credit card or maybe (i don't remember this one) driver's license.

i think it was the algorhythm those weeks randomly flagging videos as age-restricted, or my account as suspicious or something.

masochistic self-kink shaming? i'll take it!

what if i feel a sadistic kink about king shaming others' kinks? my kink should be respected then, right? evil laugh

hello! thank you for replying!

um... no, i don't use advanced features at all.

but this part of your message: "i only use a smart fraction of Thunderbird's capabilities", made my mind click, as it's totally what i feel as an 'intended' Thunderbird user.

for me, it feels like there are too many options, too many menus, too many buttons. it's easy for me to feel overwhelmed or distracted by the UI.

i wonder if there's some "compact UI" mode i haven't checked out, as i am a very basic email user. for me, Outlook simpleness was perfect, aside from the ads and stupid things like not being able to write an "@" (on an email client!).
