The customer is always right, in matters of taste.

Very likely a parody account

A coffee bean is a seed from the Coffea plant and the source for coffee. It is the pip inside the red or purple fruit. This fruit is often referred to as a coffee cherry, and like the cherry, it is a fruit with a pip. Even though the coffee beans are not technically beans, they are referred to as such because of their resemblance to true beans.

Coffee and vanilla aren't actually beans. Soy is though.

Headless scalps 🤔

Didnt watch this specific video, but the solution seems simple to me. Just release the server software. Bonus points to open source it.

As someone without an electric car, i always assumed it was for something to do while charging.

Oh fuck :(

Damn i still say that like that sometimes, and i totally forgot where it came from

I personally like using the touch pads for hunt/peck style typing. This may not be what youre asking, but i find it reasonably useable for my needs

Ive been taking cannabis for about 20 years. Moved to a state with a medical program. "Doctor" gave me a rx for "arthritis". Finally get health insurance. See real doctor. Diagnosed with arthritis.

Ive been using them for a few years. Some stuff to note: you have to pay in at least 3 month blocks. You cannot pay for a month at a time. The prices on the website are just for your first term. After that it is a little more expensive, but not too much. Coverage wise it's t-mobile's network, so its good in major cities, but spotty in rural areas.

Ive been mostly pleased with them. When the wife and I go on trips, sometimes my phone gets no service, but she's on AT&T, so her phone usually works fine, and she'll turn on hotspot so i can get my messages.

Does threads even plan to federate at all? I haven't looked that deeply into it. They may have just used AP because its open source so it was easy to spin up a twitter clone. I could very well be wrong about that.

The arguments about "hanging out with my friends" is valid, but also consider all the other organizations that probably will never consider using something like Mastodon. Will the bands I like, restaraunts in my area, politicians, etc join Mastodon? Maybe, but not all of them. Federation would allow me to follow my favorite bar and see what shows they have this week without me having to use threads myself.

When it comes to the damage Threads could do to the fediverse, I think thay has way more to do with how the fediverse reacts to changes that Threads may implement on their own. Considering the discussion all over fedi about Threads and whether or not to defederate, why the hell would the Activity Pub devs cater to potential breakages that Threads introduces? If Threads breaks compatibility with the Fediverse, then they will have effectively defederated themselves.

Ultimately it comes down to content. Threads may want to take our content and throw ads next to it, and that's fine if they chose to do that. Some of us may want content that originates on Threads while using a foss client.

If we chose to completely defederate from Threads, I think that will ultimately push users from the fediverse to meta. I hate facebook, but that's where my family is. I can't even convince my wife to ditch reddit for lemmy. They will scrape our data whether or not we like it, and whether or not we defederate. I honestly just don't see the point. As long as we don't allow meta to have too much say in how Activity Pub is developed, I don't really see the harm.

Honestly, id just reinstall windows, check the router for port forwarding, change the admin password on the router, and call it a day.

Then, keep an eye on it and see if the situation improves

Uh, wouldnt this make more sense for mastodon instances to defed? Can we even see mastodon posts on lemmy? I know they can post here, but its always like a lost in translation weird post.

What i usually do is set up a wifi hotspot from my phone, and connect the pi that way

I have one running manjaro gnome. Works great for me, but sometimes i have trouble with the onscreen keyboard showing up over the browser (both firefox and chrome). Other than that, it works just fine.

Well ill be darned. Thank you

No, your laptop also connects to the hotspot. If you have available wifi at your location, you can then setup the pi to use that wifi and disconnect the phone hotspot, and just use the local wifi on all devices.

Ive just found this to be the simplest setup. I briefly had serial over bluetooth set up, and it was an easier way to change the pi's wifi, but it broke pretty quickly for me not sure why.

Probably the most elegant solution is ethernet over usb, but thats a bit of a pain to set up.

For me a hotspot has been the least headache

Yes, but hiring some devs to modify the code to be run on a home server could be seen as an investment towards saving the cost of running the servers themselves.

If a company is going broke and cant afford to port the code to a home market, they could simply open source it, and let the fans do the work.

And as i mentioned to the other guy, i think this should be the law.

Digestion starts when you cook.

I believe it's just the built-in wayland keyboard. It works just fine, but looks a little ugly for my tastes. If an app doesnt automatically bring up the keyboard, just swipe up from the bottom of the screen and itll come up

Other than that, its a pretty standard touchscreen keyboard. Youre not gonna be doing any "homerow typing" but its easy enough to use, especially in portrait mode. Landscape is a bit long for my thumbs.

Naw ive seen a ton of people talking about hot being broken. You should use active

Jellyfin also has a web interface. http://SERVERIP:8096

Obviously, put your ip in there.

For the bong i have a butane zippo. I really only use the hemp string with my electric arc lighter (cant light candles or bowls with it easily).

We've mostly transitioned to wax/extracts tho.

More jpeg!

Don't misunderstand me, I absolutely think there should be regulation over this. I'm saying ultimately if a company wants to discontinue a service they should be forced by law to release the server software. That way the player base can still use the product they paid money for.

I gotta say, i find the youtube videos in youtube music a feature not a bug. Not so much for the videos themselves, but i listen to a lot of obscure music, some of which is not licensed to be on traditional streaming, yet often has videos available on youtube. My playlists can be a combination of properly licensed music, and jank uploads

Good looking out!

That's BBC's headline...
