Lemmy (like Reddit) is about topics, and communities are formed around them. Mastodon (like Twitter/X) is user-centric, and discussions are formed around them. They are simply two different approaches to the social component.

The nature of these social networks makes one more useful for already known users/organizations and less for the common user. In fact, if you want to follow a particular person, Mastodon is more useful, but if you want to talk about some topic in general, Lemmy will always be superior.

Absolutely

The better experience is a film without Snyder. The Owls of Ga'Hoole is the only decent work in his (artistically) shitty career.

Steam Decks?

Oh, I'm sure we're all great parents here. I applaud you for admitting a mistake and having the humility to ask for advice, both excellent parenting skills in my opinion.

I believe the answer is always culture. Once better videogames are discovered it's likely that they will hardly go back to the bad ones (so that the problem of prohibitionism - which is only a temporary solution - can be solved).

Yes I also suggest Ardour over other DAWs. :-]

Anarchism@lemmy.ml is moderately active. You also have the solarpunk movement.

This is gold. PeerTube experience is a mess right now, we totally need 2 or 3 big instances like here on Lemmy.

Please do instance wars also on PeerTube, it's noone land right now.

Tier list on what I'm using

  • tier-S Arcticons, Droidi-fy, KeePassDX, KISS Launcher, Mull, SimpleX Chat, Syncthing

  • tier-B Librera Reader, Obtainium, OpenFoodFacts, SeriesGuide, ViMusic
  • tier-C Liftoff, Metro, Read You, Translate You

Actually no. I'm very sensitive to this theme but for what I know Steam is what makes gaming on Linux good. What do you use to play?

Ahahahaha

Steam Machines were more of a collaborative product, not something that Valve really put effort or resources into like Steam Deck. That said, I think a console-PC sold and sponsored primarily by Valve could work.

(After that, I think the initial Steam Machines project - which was imo intelligent - could have some value.)

I just probably need to buy a fire stick a software with a tv-like UI, where I can use a remote to visit streaming websites in an easiest way.

"Kept you waiting, huh?"

You are right. Lemmy and Mastodon are user-centric while Funkwhale or Peertube are more on the artist/creator. For this reason I encourage people to use these sites, supporting artists who decide to use these platforms.

Peertube needs a couple (or more) large instances to be anything to start with. Right now it's no man's land, sadly.

There're good alternatives for every app, the only real lost are contacts and dialer, imo.

Void feel faster on old hardware due to systemd missing, the real problem is no-AUR imo.

300 is one of the ugliest and most pretentious film of the century: pectorals made in computer graphics, pompous advertising shooter direction (which is in fact Snyder's "cultural" background) and a completely idiotic use of slow motion like we've never seen before.

I can partly agree with you if we talk about the graphic novel but I still regretted purchasing that comic, a pro-fascist and forgettable work.

I've a decentralized music project here where all my tracks are copyleft. At the end of the day I'm sharing something in the most genuine way.

YT channels who claim to be libre culture should promote PeerTube in every fuckin video.

Try to force Proton with different versions.

SimpleX Chat

Best app for my taste, similar to Infinity for Reddit.

Dialer apps are a mess, waiting for Fossify also here

AOTY - One of the best site to discover/evaluate music.

Pdb - Personality database about fiction and real characters.

ᕦ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ᕤ - Copypastable text emoticons.

Main devs and is cluttered, there are better alternatives like EndeavourOS.

It's pretty easy to install, what's your commands?

And that's a problem? :D

Well, seems logic to find us in a decentralized floss platform!

If you are an advanced user voidlinux is very good for laptops, in my experience without systemd you have faster boot timings.

The Xbox one is good and it's the standard layout on PC, so this is probably your pick.

I love my Steam Controller since is very customizable and a pretty unique hardware, but it may require config steps.

8bitdo stuff is usually good but pay attention on layout buttons.

Never tested a PS controller on PC but Steam should allow to play some game with the PS buttons on screen.

I'm actually using Ardour as my daily daw, very powerfull (check my profile if interested in libre music). Consider I made electronic music for many years with proprietary software.

Thanks for the effort, very good reading!

Do you have tags on your tracks? Old FLAC versions have issues with tags, resulting in crackling. Try to use flatpaks whenever possibile.
