I'm guessing they were referring to the defederation issues that came up.

Wow, it was $29.95 a year. I canceled mine the other day and deleted my accounts today. Fuck Reddit.

These people are just disgusting. What in the hell does it matter what her gender is? Why not stop being a creep and pay attention to your own child, or stay away from the event if you don't have one?

I'm thinking of this as a grieving period. I was on Reddit via Sync for over 10 years multiple times a day. I'm angry, annoyed, and sick over the entire situation, and commiserating with other Reddit orphans is helping me transition to Lemmy. It will slowly die down over the next few months and we'll find something else to direct our rage at. 😉

Hopefully the get disbarred as well.

I think you forgot a crucial step... Bots steal actual content, then direct other bots to down vote and report said original content, and then direct said bots to upvote the stolen content.

Yet again was not arrested at the arraignment. No mugshot, or fingerprinting, and no bail, they sure are treating him unfairly. Can't he just choke on a big mac already so we can be done with this cheeto?

I think only mod specific bots were immune. As idiotic as Reddit has been, it might still be running, but, how will it remind those of us that erased all comments and then deleted our accounts? I have a feeling that wasn't an official bot, so it was probably programed correctly so it won't spam them with replys to deleted accounts 😢

What I have learned to say is "I understand this is new and confusing; however, don't stress out, I was probably more confused than you are when I first learned this." It throws them off a bit, because they think you're the expert, and it clicks that you had to learn it too. If they probe deeper into why it was hard for me, I explain that I'm so used to how things are supposed to work, I have to step back and see how things can work.

You will want to tip 15-25%wheb you are dining at a sit down restaurant. If you are at a counter service buisness or café, you should only tip of they went out of their way to make your experience amazing. If you will be staying at hotels, you should tip bellmen $3-$5 per bag, concierge 5-10% of what they have procured for you. Cab's, Ubers, or any car service 10-20% (I usually do a minimum of $5 here.) if you get asked for a tip on any self-service screen, just deny it, that's a cash grab for the business owner. You can offer a tip to any employee you want if they go out of their way for you, however outside the service industry, employers will direct the staff to politely refuse.

Forgetting everything that's happened so far, and taking that statement at face value... That is exactly how things should have always worked...

Make *****, get eXpOsUrE. How in the hell did the internet turn into we pay for access; we use it to socialize, share art, ideas, answers, make connections. And now they are not only making money selling our data, but we're expected to pay for their crap content they scraped from our own data?

I don't know, I don't think anyone but the child's doctor has a right to ask what gender they are. There is not a single rational reason this random guy had to be speaking to this kid.

He's probay the type that throws a tantrum when a "healthy" looking person uses a handicapped parking space. I can't fathom how people like this think, are they so "perfect" that they go out looking to be enraged?

I'm completely done with Reddit. The damage is already done. I have been much happier here on Lemmy since the 12th, not planning to leaving anytime soon.

The terrible thing is, it doesn't matter where you are anymore. The more hateful, shocking, and deplorable things you say, get you more attention now.

For the past few weeks I've been trying to imagine what WW2 would have been like with today's internet. On one hand I hope that having real time info on all the horrors would have ended the war sooner with much less death. On the other hand, we have real time info on modern atrocities, and our leaders still just pretend it's not happening.

That is an awesome write up; direct, clear, and not sensationalised! Thank you for taking the time to do that.

I consider the down vote the equivalent of rolling my eyes when listening to an idiot ramble on. However, I can see your point as well.

They'll find a way to make that disappear, I'm sure.

You got paid, because it's required by law that you do. Your boss is also required by law to not interfere with your service. It awesome that the judge held up the law. They would normly just dismiss you because it would take up time they don't have.

I'm super happy with the decision to rename all these bases named after confederate leaders. Should have been done ages ago. I'm sure some subreddits are going nuts over this.

That was an excellent read, and exactly what I've been thinking regarding Meta joining.

You linked a Chinese website... I love the 1st translated article, go unicorns!

Awesome link

Servers are paid a sub-minimum wage, as tips are supposed to round out their wages. When I wanted tables my paycheck barely covered the taxes on my cash and credit card tips.

They can have it all to themselves. I'm happy here now 😉

Im in the same boat as you, following this in hopes of getting some good responses.

I did the same, I hope they got them.

I'd say they have been doing it longer or are familiar with the underlying knowledgebase, so it seems to come easily to them.

Someone who has never used a modern computer before will think that someone who has been learning and adapting since Windows 3.1 would look like a genius. Even if all they know is how to do basic tasks and navigation.

Welcome to the New Frontier!

My accounts are all Gmail or Google Workspace. I have always hated the sorting and display options Gmail allows. I've used desktop Outlook forever and have it tweaked exactly as I want it. I'm paying $99 a year for Office360, might as well get my money's worth.

From just reading the headline, I was a bit hesitant to open this post... We use the heaver-duty wire hangers since we don't have much closet space and can cram more in that way.

This release is going to feel like Xmas in July! I'm so excited for this to be released, bugs and all, because I know how amazing it's going to be!

Tried to attach a pic, had some issues. Dog tax link: Iris & Riley

Your response is both encouraging and discouraging. I miss the Pit Bull subreddits. I have had them my entire life, and they are the derpiest, loving, lazy, and happy dogs I've ever met. However; I know the reputation, and I know that people who shouldn't be allowed to take care of a pet rock tend to abuse, neglect, and fight them. So, they of course always make the news.

I agree with your reply. I completely agree with breeding restrictions and laws regarding not only big dogs, but all of them. There are way to many unintended dogs, and backyard breeder rejections in this world. With that, no one should be able to make a living breeding pets, that only creates the issues we have now. You can pay thousands for a pure bred dog, or you can pay a few hundred from a backyard "my dog isn't controled and knocked up/got knocked up by the neighbors," or you can be like me and just pick up the pieces and adopt from the local shelter.

I also know the stats about fatalities, and also understand that they are one of the largest "breeds" without a clear definition. They are also the "breed" assigned to all medium to large, short hair, with a medium to long snout dogs by most animal control entities in the US. I am not trying to minimize, or hide anything, I just wish there was a clear definition of the breed, and a way to stop the unethical breeding, treatment, and abuse of them.

This is how I look at all pets, mine, and everyone else's I come across. They are all beautiful, sentient, intelligent, and self aware beings. They have urges, fears, irrationalities, instincts, and self preservation feelings like every other animal on this planet. They deserve and need to be treated with the same respect you would treat any person.

Created a Pixelfed account and updated the link, I'll get this Fediverse figured out one way or another! I really appreciate your replies, thank you!

I was a die hard Motorola fan for years, Verizon's DROID line kept me away from the Apple ecosystem for quite a while. When Google bought them I thought they would become the iPhone of Android ecosystem. Once they sold the name for $10 billion less to Lenovo, I switched to LG for a couple of phones, finally gave into Samsung. I miss when the tech was improving from year to year, but now, I'm happy to keep a phone for 2 years, buy a new one and give my mom the last one and there isn't much difference.

**Edit: When I upgrade, I get the flagship, so that normally gives the phone 4-5 years with Samsung with updates. ***

Not gonna lie, I'm a little buzzed right now so may be remembering things wrong. However, I think I remember that I had been buying computers from Lenovo for years before all this started, and I had to stop just before this acquisition happened due to serious privacy and security violations. I would normally serach the web for an answer, but at this point I would get an AI answer that says security isn't important and I need to pledge my allegiance to the "god ai."

I'm usually one who doesn't buy into conspiracy theories; however, at this point I believe the Reddit protests actually (I hate this meme) broke the internet.

Reddit was the "idiot cousin that causes minimum annoyance occasionally, that hasn't really hurt the advertising line much" for so long, that they all became dependent on the free, moderated, and literal fact checked by people it effects data for so long. That now, after the last weeks, of all the deleting, rewriting, restoring, rewriting, restoring, and rewriting again that all their cached data, and reddits "current" data is now worthless.

The super funny thing is, all the AI's are still pulling data from reddit, they are going to have to cull and sanitize all data and every connection to it, and can also never trust it again... Because many many many people actually care about being part of a community, and will continue to modify/poison their previous comments to keep corps and their mindless "AI" from their "OWNED CONTENT."

What link or info do you have for the community/magazine you want to subscribe to? If you are on Lemmy, you want to go to the communities direct webpage, copy that URL and then paste that into your instance's search. It might not show up right away, just click the next button, the last button, and again until your server can find it. As long as your instance, or the instance the community is hosted on have not defedraded from one another it will show up in a minute or two.
