The burning is being done by a couple of idiots who wants attention. It isn't something that happens on a regular basis, making the bill even more absurd.

And it will probably happen. No one in power gives a fuck about logic and reason. It's all about sending a signal. People don't care about privacy but they don't like pedos!

11 years ago, I attended a talk by Gottfrid Svartholm in Berlin. He told us that we have lost the internet. Pretty good foresight eh?

Probably not though. Common people don't understand Internet. Nor does politicians or journalists. What else is on Twitter? Advertisements?

LinuxMint

  • Stop crashing when I log in after standby
  • Weird graphical glitches
  • The WiFi manager. Trying to connect to work WiFi but I then have to fill in info on certificates, protocols and what not. Stuff I don't understand, don't experience on Mac/windows and don't want to know about.
  • At least try to make an interesting package manager/store. How about some screenshots and icons?

Muaicbee+poweramp with 600gb music for 15 years now. Love it. Nice to see other people wanting to follow the old ways.

Use industry software standards. Adobe, Autodesk etc etc. I know, these solutions sucks, but it is the world people live it. Most Lemmy people are into tech for the sake of tech. You are technological literate to the highest degree. Understand and critique developments in tech. Very important work! However, a graphical designer probably isn't that literate and wouldn't be able to do work in a Foss environment. Yes, 1 in a 1000 might use Gimp but good luck colabbing with other people in the industry.

For software I would recommend a combination of

  • musicbee for library and music management and sync playlists over wifi locally
  • maybe combine with mp3tag if you don't like the built in tagger in musicbee. Only reason for me to use mp3tag is to include the style tag from Discogs into the genre field. Not possible with musicbee. If this is not in your interest musicbee's tagger is amazing.
  • there are two private trackers focusing on music only. Insane collections. One is very hard to get into. The other is way easier.
  • rutracker is also a great source for music

Just keep doing what you have been doing as far!

Indeed. And lots of normal human beings are able to run marathon. Pretty easy if you set your mind to.

It depends on what sort of experience you want, what roads you drive, whether it's mostly country or city, do track running etc.

I like manual more for various reasons. I don't do much city driving nor do I get stock in heavy traffic ques. I drive country roads and highways and do a few track days. With a manual I get a much more satisfying experience, as it requires more skill to make fast and/or smooth shifts. The tactile feel of the manual gear shifter makes me feel more connected to my car. Flappy pads shifting automatic doesn't require the same skill nor has the same tactile feel. It's awesome for city and ques though.

I don't think we have the same idea of what it means to be connected with the car. Most EVs aren't seeking to have you drive them, they are seeking to drive you, imho (except maybe the Hyundai N range thats coming, but only because it tries to manic cars).

Me just now. Just got 7800 xt after all these great years.

Thanks

That sucks! I have never experienced any of these issues

Fun to dig around a bit!!! Hoped to find my old ATi 9700 card from MSI on there, but only found the chip :(

Source?

I wouldn't say generally, no.

This.

Yeh and apparently Lemmy folks down votes legit bad experiences with gnu/Linux. If you think the user is the problem here, this community seriously have a problem if thet want gnu/Linux to be mainstream.

Well, only way to solve this is by having people here who aren't idiots (whatever that means to you) to participate and make things better. But this is too hard for most people, I guess.

Maybe for people who are not interested in smartphones? Could also be an educational project if you want to dive into embedded systems. You'll also save battery on your phone.

It's a little confusing for the average user, just like other fedi sites like lemmy and mastodon. First search result on google doesn't even link to a peertube site where you can actually watch videos. DDG does show peertube.tv as the first result, so thats good.

That's a value proposition. Explain to me how you would price this for it to be fair? If you don't like it, don't buy it. This has nothing to do with enshitification.

I have the same experience as the author you just replied to. While some of what you are saying is true, I have never had everyday issues like these on windows. I switch to Linux once a year to change things up. Mint, arch, Debian... A few major issues I experience

  • login screen just freezes after standby
  • wifi not automatically recognizing what settings e.g. security protocol my work wifi uses
  • external monitors not working
  • updates just breaking my whole OS or not working

These are essentials, not something I can simply learn to live with or fix on the fly.

Would love to switch! I can get through work without proprietary software so that's not the issue.

Yes. Remember when everyone would leave reddit because of the API tax? 😂 reddit, front page of hypocrisy.

Find me EV with soul and I buy

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Why do we care about this on a piracy community? I never cared about prices and fees I don't have to pay for anyway! Tough luck for those of you how sub to Disney.

You won't get long with that final statement. Consider that such statement fuels the flame of people who are against trans, drag etc etc. You can clearly that the original commenter is willing to engage in discussion.

Installs mint. Connects to wifi at work. Prompted with a window that wants me to specify certificate versions or whatever. No clue about what any of it means and never get to connect. Uninstalled and back to Windows. Mint so easy to use /s 👍

I wonder what arguments people have to justify a downvote. Polarized either/or views. Capitalism is a great idea if regulated. Look to history and find good examples of societies that aren't based on capitalism. They don't exist.

I agree and value the Marxist analysis of capitalism. I'm a socialist. However, I don't think that a Marxist economy would work. Social responsible capitalism works. Capitalism run amok doesn't. Unfortunately, it is getting out of control, especially in the USA.

Best sport in the world. Football is more than just FIFA etc, you know? Getting children to play and have fun is good. Me and my friends playing football is also good. But yeah, just boil everything down to how corps fuck things up.

Lol why the f do I get downvoted for this.
