Funny thing is most of them are good reviews not bad lol

It’s funny reading these mundane “the service was great, good steak” kind of review and knowing it’s written by a billionaire drug kingpin 😂

“Reincarnation has all the expected hallmarks of a gacha game”

Oh no!! So anyway…

So just the regular Olympics then?

It sounds like you’re very sensitive to the effects or maybe just the new sensations. Try drastically lowering your doses. Like instead of a few puffs, just one short one. For edibles take 1/4 of the recommended dose (also remember some of those recommended doses are super high actually, find something with milligrams listed and start with only 2.5mg or even less). Also for flower, try buying something really low percentage like 10% or less and also only take one puff.

My point being start so low you barely feel it and each time you smoke or eat, only increase it a tiny bit until you find the level that’s right for you.

Also fwiw some people just don’t like it and that’s ok too. But your best bet right now is to go as low as possible on the dose and work up from there very slowly. Sounds like you’re overdoing it (even if the doses are objectively small).

I just start with “It’s basically just a community owned Reddit” and leave it at that.

I think that gets the important point across. Getting into details about federation and picking servers just makes it sound complicated, when it really isn’t.

Then if someone’s interested I just recommend them a larger server and let them go from there.

I think people way over complicate things from the start and turn people off before they even try it.

I assume most “normal” people do watch it anyway which is why it’s all over every porn site. If only people into that fetish watched it and it hurt traffic they wouldn’t plaster it all over every front page…

Idk…telling lies to potential customers that you know to be bullshit to get money from them based on promises you know you’ll never deliver sure sounds like a scam artist to me:

(From the article)

Molyneux talked in interviews about the pressure to overpromise in order to secure funding, telling Tech Radar that "the behaviour is incredibly destructive, which is 'Christ, we've only got 10 days to go and we've got to make £100,000, for fuck's sake, lets just say anything'."

It’s the libertarian dream!

Because their product team is incompetent?

I totally agree with using strong unique password manager generated passwords for every server (as everyone should do for every service they use regardless) but my email has been leaked so many times by so many breaches I’m not sure I really care about that part at this point…

Same with Starfield. Biggest launch ever!! Well yeah no shit Sherlock it was free on gamepass for like 30 million people lol

This is really wholesome

I guess I’m not important enough but I used a scrubber to replace all my messages to say I was going to Lemmy after all the recent changes to Reddit and last time I checked recently they were still edited. Maybe it helps I didn’t actually delete my account? I just edited all my comments and stopped interacting with Reddit completely.

I’m pretty sure that at the time that photo was taken he was in the middle of running for political office and hiding the fact his money came from drug trafficking. I assume that look you described was exactly what he was going for.

Apple doesn’t review it that thoroughly. They could easily send people’s credentials up to some server and Apple would likely not catch it.

What I mean is don’t just trust it because it’s in the App Store.

I personally use it because it has an active GitHub and is one of the more popular mobile clients. Also I don’t really care if my accounts get hacked in the first place lol so I’m also trying out Mlem beta and Wefwef. But even with that said I wouldn’t just try out any random new client that came along.

At first probably just the nsfw instances since I’m not here for porn and foreign language instances since I can’t really interact with them anyway. That alone should help clean up my feed a lot. After that no idea, I’m normally fine just blocking individual communities but if I see an instance where I’m seemingly blocking all their communities, I’ll just block the instance.

Yeah and not it’s not just with the Steam Deck either, it’s basically every hobby subreddit. 3D printing is a ton of “I just got my Ender 3 can’t wait to do my first print!”, Xbox is “Just got my Series X can’t wait to play!”, self hosting is “I just bought this Optiplex off eBay what should I host on it?!”, etc, etc, etc.

I stopped following a bunch of subreddits way before the API changes due to basically half my feed being crap like that.

Oh man I totally forgot about that! Oh nice they have it in ebook and pdf formats now

I’m honestly not sure. I only just heard that instance blocking was coming with this update. I’m not sure if it’s like defederating (aka complete block) or just blocks their communities or what.

Remember RAID is not a backup! RAID is for increasing uptime and only happens to help protect data (in some cases) as a side effect. Make sure you have backups of anything important or irreplaceable on that drive, preferably offsite!

Haha I just checked and not only does that site still exist it looks exactly the same as I remember from like 20 years ago

Based on…basically all of their actions ever…I don’t think they actually understand their own site at all.

The plural of cat is cats, not kittehs.

Yeah it’s unfortunate you had to learn that lesson the hard way, but cops are not there to help you in any way regardless of the ridiculous “protect and serve” slogan they love to use. They’ve literally fought and won multiple cases to prove they don’t have to help people. It’s fucked.

Nice work! I tried this out a few months ago (maybe longer?) and it was still a bit too rough around the edges but I liked the concept. I’ll download it again today and give the new update a spin!

Mostly just seems genuinely positive haha

I was just joking about OP being pedantic :)

Also if it’s a desktop app they could just put the malicious code in the binary download 99% of people will use, or if it’s a web app, they just put it in their hosted version, etc.

I’m just amazed they haven’t shut down Google groups by now…

Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly

I can link you that XBLA version if you want it again

Sounds about right for an academic computer scientist, they are usually terrible software engineers.

At least that’s what I saw from the terrible coding practices my brother learned during his CS degree (and what I’ve seen from basically every other recent CS grad entering the workforce that didn’t do extensive side projects and self teaching) that I had to spend years unlearning him afterwards when we worked together on a startup idea writing lots of code.

It makes perfect sense as a product because running game backups off an SD card without any hardware modding only works on the oldest console version. If you have a Lite or OLED (or even just the patched original model) you need a mod chip which is not an easy install.

This 100%

You can side load apps now. For years actually.

Yep that’s the right attitude to have I think. Soon enough it’ll be over and you’ll have your license back. Best of luck on the job hunt friend.

That’s true but there are a bunch of CDNs you can choose from and you can switch from one to another fairly easily. Cloudflare just happens to be the most popular at the moment but they’re not the only big player, not to mention smaller players.

FWIW I totally agree with the sentiment that Cloudflare (and AWS for that matter) is creating a too-centralized web. I just don’t see an issue with using CDNs for fediverse servers in general.

Yep that’s the right way to do it. Mass edit all your comments instead of deleting them and then keep your account but just stop using it.

Unfortunately I think this is exactly what Reddit wants. They want to be social media like Instagram or TikTok style. A lot more ad money from that crowd.

I know Reddit (and Lemmy) was always technically social media but I consider it more like Internet forums than the Facebook/Insta/TikTok style social media.

You may also be surprised to find out that the Safari browser that comes with iOS has extensions support and even special support for content blockers (aka ad blocking extensions) that works great.
