I have a similar feeling about it. I think I would prefer the customization of KDE, etc, but GNOME just works for me right out of the box. I don't think I change anything except the monospace font nowadays (in Tweaks). It works great and gets out of the way. For people who do not like the GNOME workflow I suspect it would be horrific because there is far less customization.
If we are making evolutionary arguments, I find dogs that have been bred in such a way that they commonly die from cancer or heart disease in 10 years to be exotic. But they certainly are successful in passing on their genes, so it is an increase in fitness. But at what cost?
I also do not think that something evolving to be a certain way makes it a moral choice.
For you, I suggest sticking to Discord. I am of the mind that your effort should be focused on your community instead of enforcing a FOSS philosophy upon a group that may not have any interest in doing so.

Dyson is a marketing company that happens to make okay vacuums. Anyone who owns a Miele or SEBO vacuum would never go to a Dyson. Someone with a uterus and a history of ovarian cancer likely isn't a candidate for estradiol, but there are other treatments. Maybe estrogen + progestin to prevent unopposed endometrial proliferation. Though I hope OP can find a doctor who can help with hormone replacement if that is what his partner wants.

The first game that popped into mind for this title was Dave the Diver. It is a lovely game where you fish in the morning, then serve up the fish at the sushi restaurant you work for in the evenings. I recommend you check out a video on it! It's technically early access, but the full game is set to release on the 28th.

I'm a big fan of the weather app wX for US people. It is a no-frills NWS data explorer, with a great radar and widget. It doesn't have the look of a modern app, persay, but the data are all there and very clear. (To get to the meteogram, long press on the radar widget on the home screen. I found this by accident, but am very happy I did.)

I love gritty. I grew up in Seattle and found the whole Kraken logo and team name were just so uninspiring. Especially when the Flyers just went all in on just being cool as hell with Gritty. Fortunately I was already a Canes fan so the boring Kraken thing doesn't bother me at all

Honestly? Fair point. I find it hard to not extend this to animals but it most likely isn't something animals consider at all. I mean, dogs likely all have William's Syndrome, so they are happy with how we treat them in most scenarios. But owning animals I think leads to a lot of secondary animal cruelty caused by breeders and abandoned pets.
