I'd like to believe that enough of us actually stopped using chrome and switched to Firefox the day they made that announcement that swayed them... But in reality I'm sure it was just the bad press and they're going to try to find a different more sneaky way to do the same shit.

We need Ranked Choice Voting at all levels including the presidency before we can have lots of different parties.

Logging in to cancel my switch online right now. I was using YUZU to play games I bought from them, in some cases even more than once. F Nintendo. I won't be buying a Switch 2.

It's not free, we are paying for everything NASA does with our taxes.

It was never a secret and yet the poor and miserable keep voting for them.

Probably because they know if it gets implemented they will get tossed out. What a shame.

I'm using Connect app too for now. Ateast until Sync for Lemmy is ready! Connect isn't terrible by any means. Though I haven't received a reply or DM yet so I'm not sure if background updates are working.

It's not "no one", Because I left reddit and I left chrome. Lemmy and Firefox!

But yeah not many people will actually do it.

IMO, rectangle sports are the most boring sports in existence. It's literally a rectangle and always a rectangle every time... And everyone stands around watching the exact same shit happening inside the perfectly constructed rectangle. It's the same thing, over and over. Not only that but millions of people say they love sports, but they don't even play, just stare at a glowy rectangle and watch people in a rectangle run around. You can't define a more boring sport than that. At the very bare minimum, to spice things up, how about introducing some goddamn obstacles randomly placed in the rectangle. Add some actual dynamic scenarios that keep the players on their toes and trying to come up with new strategies.

Motocross and enduro racing are sports and so is golf. Golf courses are all different, they unique, dynamic change depending on temperature, weather, grass length, wind, dew point, hole location.

But I do agree in general, golf courses are very big waste. Especially when placed in the middle of deserts or places that require significant resources to maintain.

Holy shit this finally got it to click in my head.

There's also a reason for that too. The bag not only needs to be inflated with air to protect the chips, but it also has to have plenty of room for that air to expand and contract due to atmospheric pressure changes. For example, if you made the bag just big enough for the chips and enough air that when pushed or squished a bit it doesn't cave in on the chips. And your manufacturing plant is at sea level. When those chip bags go on a truck and arrive at 8,000 feet in Colorado. All the bags would be popped because the air inside expanded far beyond the left over capacity of the bag, so POP!

Amazon is one of the most evil companies on the planet and yet it's not on your list but Costco is? Gonna have to completely disagree with you. Costco is probably one of if not the best company in the fortune 500. They operate and live by their code ethics to do the right thing. They've never ever had a lay off of employees, they treat people right.

You called them out for a subscription model, yet don't understand what they are offering at all. What store can you shop at that offers products at zero margin? Costco's yearly net profit is the number of members times the membership cost. Their entire business profit is only the $100 membership fee per person. That's all they want to make from each person.

Edit: And then you have Amazon. Where they use people and dump them. Have a vulturistic operating model. They literally have meetings and design their software to trick people into buying at a higher cost. They'll manipulate anyone anyway they see fit to make as much money as possible from them. They sell stolen and counterfeit products and they know it, they just let it happen because validating products would cost them money. They'd rather just say sorry if you catch them and give a refund.

Yep, all of us plebs want RCV. But the problem is in order to get it, we need one of two major parties in control to make the change. But they don't want to make the change because they know if they do, us plebs will actually start voting for independent parties and they'll lose their power. :(

I live in rural Washington too, in the mountains. There was a local ISP that was terrible and amazingly a very small ISP bought them out from Arizona. The first thing they did was start to run fiber to anyone who wanted it. I went from shit DSL to 1gig up and 1 gig down fiber. To top it all off, they've lowered my monthly price once and doubled my bandwidth once... Without even asking, I even emailed them to check if my bill was lower and speed was faster and they were like yep! Mind blown.

We need Ranked Choice Voting for presidency ASAP. I am super happy to see that it's making it's way into some states lower votes. But to be honest out of all the things I vote on, the most important one feels like the President and that's the one I want RCV for.

The one on my phone is though? It even knows when it's wet and won't charge until it's dry.

Plex will do all/most of that with no additional hardware required. Just install the app to your smart TV and phones. Best part is when I go to a anyone else's house it's as easy as installed the app to their TV and using the QR code on the display to sing in with my phone. Bonus you install the server app to your home computer and put in movies or media you already own there. You don't even have to install a server for it to use all of the other aggregation features.

Wow!! Immich looks great. I'll be getting that going asap. I actually just started paying for Google drive just to have more space for photos and videos. I've always wanted to move over to using my server but I just couldn't find a great Google photos alternative. This looks perfect.

The downloads aren't unencrypted, you can't play them with any media player. Only their app can decrypt and play it. Has nothing to do with ripping them all in the month, you can do that without downloading them at all and just stream them to rip them.

The point of limiting it to 30 is to prevent someone from downloading them all to their device and then disconnecting the device from the internet permanently so you can have them forever. You'd have to do some date manipulation too in the operating system to keep the app from knowing your subscription actually expired.

I recently upgraded to the new GE all in one washer dryer. Removes a massive step of having to move clothes between dryer and washer. Toss em in, and 2 hours later they're done. Best part is they can be tossed in before bed and ready in the morning for work!

On my to do list for today. Did you submit a formal CCPA delete request? Or just log in and delete?

My dog pinto he ran away. But he came back the very next day. I asked pinto where he been. Pinto been Pinto been!

My dog Lima he ran away...

This is the way!

The $1.50 Costco hot dog and soda of course! If you haven't seen the new Costco edition you're missing out!

In my area prices are already down 30%. Every chart clearly shows the falling value.

I am already a Plex user but I gave Jellyfin a try. Hoping to ditch Plex and fully self host it. But unfortunately I use Chromecast on all the TVs in my house and the Jellyfin Chromecast integration is terrible :(

That's what I never understood about cable tv! Never once have I paid for a service that forces me to watch ads. I would never pay for that!

Same here and I haven't received any warning or blocking. As soon as I get told or blocked then I'll cancel. That way in their metrics they see I was blocked and then cancelled. But so far it just keeps working.

My thoughts too. Put that back on a globe and it's pretty damn close to a circle! Considering it's hand drawn..

Intelligent design maybe, but at the very least the possibility of higher existence or beings.

Don't forget good hardware too. The switch is an absolutely terrible hand held device. My hands cramp up nearly instantly trying to play on it.

I have purchased BOTW and TOTK for the switch, but I play them on my steam deck with YUZU Waaaay better experience.

Just ordered my first one. Bambu P1S, SO stoked to get it!!

Yeah there is a setting and now when I click links it opens in Firefox. But if you use the Google search widget it still opens in chrome, which is to be expected I guess.

It technically doesn't apply to you, but it totally does. They don't have any way to validate who you are or where you're from. So CCPA gave everyone the protection. Just ask and they have to delete the data.

This is legitimately how it works in the US between insurance and pharma/medical.

I just had a baby and I added up the total bill from the hospital and it was $100,000. We were in the hospital for 3 days. My insurance "negotiated" it down to $26,000, and I paid $3000.

The $100,000 is completely made up from the beginning. Pharma and medical just slap big ass ridiculous numbers down, then the insurance fake negotiates down to a still completely ridiculous number, then that cost has to get eaten by people who pay into insurance, which is basically everyone.

I haven't tried it but if it works the same as a mobile OS you long click to select. Single click to execute.

Edit: apparently that's not how it works. There is a checkbox on every icon that you have to click directly on the check box to select/unselect.

Do you have lidar on your head? No, yet you're able to drive with just two cameras on your face. So no lidar isn't required. Not that driving in a very dynamic world isn't very difficult for computers to do, it's not a matter of if, it's just a matter of time.

Would lidar allow "super human" driving abilities? Like seeing through fog and in every direction in the dark, sure. But it's not required for the job at hand.
