kill landlords - why are you on my profile?

I run all my dockers in LXCs on Proxmox and there hasn't been a single problem.

PPA works for ad networks and not users. I don't care about your 'moderate take' about a technology invented by the actual opposition who would strip-mine your corpse for minerals if they were given the opportunity just because it's not as evil as it could be. It is still evil technology that works against you.

You do face issues running a regular middle/guard relay. My IP is tainted from overzealous sysadmins looking up Tor related IPs and seeing mine because middle relays are public knowledge. I am banned from a lot of places for simply being a middle relay.

you are brave to use your laptop that way

why? I don't connect it to untrusted networks

Your ISP doesn't give a fuck, it's not legal trouble. It's just overzealous sysadmins blocking anything that seems sus. I am permanently banned from most SoMe, for example, for having abnormal network activity but none of it is illegal.

I understand your point but I reiterate that I don't connect to unsafe networks. If someone has remote code execution on a device on my side of the network then they are also inside my apartment and I'd be more worried about that.

Actually she's copyleft, if a man fucks my GF then he also has to fuck me

I'm a photographer; AVIF and WebP do not serve my needs, JPEG-XL does.

I run my own website down to the hardware in my living room; I will not store 5 variations of any 1 picture just so I can serve the best available to clients when JPEG works everywhere and JPEG-XL offers me a lossless transition from JPG to JXL.

Chromium is literally the only reason JPEG-XL isn't being adopted right now, and it's so obvious that Google is pulling those strings.

JPEG-XL Ride or Die.

Amazon gave me a partial refund for something that arrived with defects and then I requested a full refund because it turns out it was way more broken than I initially thought in exchange for sending it back but I never sent it back and they just approved the full refund.

There is nobody in charge at Amazon costumer support

The only reason you care is because you've been conditioned to attack anything that could harm your income-potential.

Instead of fighting "AI", how about we fight for a world where artists don't have to monetarily justify their existence?

Facebook not supporting 5 year old hardware: Fine, nothing wrong here

Facebook demanding and enforcing that nobody else support it: Draconian corporate bullshit that serves no purpose but to force you, the consumer, to upgrade, even if you are perfectly happy with what you have and it runs the new games you would like to play.

Yes but IPv4 is becoming expensive and it's annoying having to use a middleman to clone github repos on a v6-only VPS

IPv6 is not hard, there is no excuse not to have it

It would be nice if DDG would start showing me the results I searched for, man

Feel like I've been going insane the past month, have to go Google things because DDG just seems to have no clue about simple queries.

All they achieved was make me not ever engage with their website in any capacity. I'm not making an account, I'm not logging in. If I can't see the content without logging in, or with a proxy, I'll just never see it. It's no sweat off my back if I can't see some random porn someone linked in a group chat.

Where on the Microsoft logo do you sit politically?

You blocked all of Lemmy

It's not that VAC is now trivial to bypass, it always was and is kind of by design. VAC is not an active adaptive anti-cheat, it literally just checks for predefined parameters and if anything trips then you're flagged and will later be banned.

What happened here was that a source-code leak of the original 2007 TF2 revealed an exploit that allows clients to run in a no-graphics mode that still works on modern TF2. Someone found out that you can program a script to interact with the no-graphics client and make it do stuff like join public server queues and interact with the game world. So they made it run around headshotting people. Since the client is running without graphics, it's very trivial to run tens if not hundreds of these from cheap machines.

I also want to give some insight because I see a lot of people wondering why the fuck they're doing this at all but it's actually very simple. It's the thrill of the cat-and-mouse game and they've been winning it for years. I've developed cheats (in cooperation with the developers, it was a whole thing) and I understand it. There's an element of fun to the puzzle game of trying to work around systems deliberately put in place to stop you. That's all there is to it, they're just enjoying this chase. A lot of them definitely also enjoy ruining fun but that's not the primary motivator.

Because it'll stop working on a not-insignificant portion of their userbases devices.

Very useful, but I don't understand concept 1, "Don't pick numbers".

If I'm right, it's basically saying don't do stuff manually, just let the computer do it. I kind of disagree with this. All of my fixed devices have a fixed IP that I manually assigned and derived from the original v4 schema I also have. For example 192.168.x.y becomes prefix::y

Am I misunderstanding something?

They built their own protocol which interacts with nothing else.

Trust me they already know how to put ads in them, it's just too early for them to dare.

I've been "on" linux for a decade and even ran it on my desktop without dualbooting for months at a time back in the Ubuntu 16 days. A few months ago I'd had enough of the Microsoftisms and installed straight Debian with i3wm on my desktop with intentions of dualbooting Windows for the rare graphical work I do. Maybe once a month. I managed to boot that thing 8 times, none without issues, before it finally stopped booting alltogether and I spent 14 hours yesterday trying to reinstall it to no success. It would commit suicide on second boot consistently and I said well dog darnit then. I guess I have to bite this bullet and learn how to do my graphical workflow on Linux.

Honestly, I should have done that sooner. I'm now Adobe and Windows free and I have literally no reason to go back. There's nothing I need or miss. All my games work (thanks valve) and all my creative tools are here in some capacity. There aren't many bugs I encounter daily in i3wm, and none are showstoppers.

Shoutout to Blender for being superior to industry standards, and Darktable for being good enough.

It's mindless chaos. This is a trend across most MP FPS games. TF2 has 2fort and turbine, also tiny maps of pure chaos.

I enjoy it when I want to play but I don't want to commit to being hyper competitive.

Finally made the switch to Linux. Technically I ran linux fulltime sometime in 2016-2017 so I'm by no means a novice but I've never felt linux on desktop was good enough. Alas, Microsoft has turned Windows into such a struggle that even Linux GUI is tolerable by comparison.

I'm actually very surprised at how tolerable Debian 12 + i3 has been. I only need to figure out my raw photo developing workflow and I'm basically set on everything. The very few games I care about work fine and all the software I needed has alternatives I can deal with.

is that a fucking belt phone holder?

It is not open source, so effectively no. It uses bridges which are open source and you can host them yourself and completely sidestep Beepers closed-source client.
