Passionate about cooking, traveling, nature photography, animals, technology and privacy.

Addicted to coffee and spicy food.

Switched to piped/invidious. There are even a few good apps like Libretube or Freetube. No need to waste time with scripts and stuff.

Yeah and I wish we could remove Trump from this world. Not happening either. Fuck humanity, we all deserve what we'll get.

It's all FOSS. Whoever gets doubts about the devs can check the source or have it checked by experts. They sell out or die? Switch to other frontends or forks. I'd never trust any dev blindly, but if I can choose between these ones and Google... well.

True. Facts won't change their views, no matter how much research went into it.

And even if they somehow end up being in the same spot as the "test subjects", it's other people's fault - preferably easily identifiable targets like minorities. Zero empathy, massive ego.

Nope. I'm boycotting META not only because of the privacy issues, but because of their history in general. I won't support such a fucked up corporation.

I guess then we have to agree to disagree.

Just what I would have said. We're already too many in this little space.

Doom, Wolfenstein 3D and Elite back in the mid-90s. Jagged Alliance 2 and Fallout 2 a few years later got me finally hooked.

This. The more popular it gets, the more people come, the more trolls and idiots are beneath them, the more toxic everything gets...

Advertisements and fake news will also skyrocket once the user bases are big enough to become adequate breeding grounds for them.

First one I was thinking of even before my brain was acknowledging the orang utan.

I mean the ape... The one without the chihuahua carcass nailed to his scalp.

So that's where they come from!

Good thing I'm running my LLMs locally on a heavily encrypted PC with no network capabilities at all. Only way to not have my data siphoned, be it by hackers or big tech.

When I still used YouTube it recommended me crap I could hardly have cared less about or even things I actually disliked.

To me, Youtube was always synonymous for faulty algorithms.

Makes sense. Best way to push even more product placements on us.

Oh no! Don't tell me face-huggers yelling "Yehaaw" will jump out of those?!

I don't think so. It's just a little more inconvenient.

For example: I don't need to see posts from friends to know how their day was. Instead, I just call them or meet them for a coffee and ask about their day.

The old fashioned ways still work well.
