Nextcloud to replace Google drive/docs. Jellyfin or plex for media. The arrs to aquire media (if you have the patience). A blog? A game server to play with friends.

I suggest using docker and docker-compose as it makes everything way easier. It does still take time and it can be frustrating but it is very rewarding.

You can try jellyfin alongside plex, just install it and point it to your media. Then you can see if it works for you

General information on all the software setup and configuration: https://wiki.servarr.com/

Flexible solution based on docker but complicated for a beginner: https://nick-rondeau.medium.com/creating-the-ultimate-media-server-with-docker-portainer-plex-and-ubuntu-server-f47a4503897f

Simple script based solution (easy for beginner but less flexible): https://swizzin.ltd/

XMPP is safer and lighter anyway

Port forward

Also don't set anonymous mode, it's not useful and gives you worse performance

Yeah that is really slow and they didn't say if it was global or a single torrent. 500kbs is slow for one torrent but if 500kbs is all the torrents combined then that is extremely slow

Hey could you link a source for that? I was thinking of switching to graphene os but this drama makes me feel unsure.

You can configure it on a headless machine and just forward the webui over an SSH tunnel for configiration / monitoring

What kind of speeds are you seeing per torrent and global with a few torrents running? I didn't try torrenting on I2p yet but even with my node on 24/7 even browsing was hella slow ( i was port forwarded too)

well good thing you said to not take this advice because it's not really good.

  1. Don't use crypto mixers, a lot of them are scams and their usefullness is up to debate -> instead use monero, the actual private crypto that is used throughout darknet.
  2. Don't use VPNs to be anonymous. VPN are useful for a few things: torrenting, browsing on a public wifi and bypassing georestrictions. they are not useful if you want to be anonymous! To be anonymous, use TOR (or i2p) 3.the VM advice is good. alternatively you could use TailsOS which is more user friendly.
  3. Don't. Especially if you need to ask how to do it first.

Ellipse will do fine. While I admire your willingness to connect you account to you real identity, I enjoy the anonymity (or pseudonymity) internet provides. Have a good rest of the day Sebastian!

I don't think we should encourage downloading a magnet link from a random stranger on lemmy, could you link the site or aggregator where you found this?

I'm guessing it's because IRC is proven, robust, simple, and has established communities. It's also extensible and can be run on anonymous networks like i2p

Second that. It is simpler than kodi altough less customizable

Second fedora, it looks modern, has up to date packages and is hardened. (selinux)

Also libgen iirc

I use tachiyomi with readcomiconline.li and readcomicsonline addon and I always get what I am searching for. I can download to read later and the ui is pretty good. Your solution sounds great but I don't need all the comics in the world.

I love Wolfgang. His videos are so high quality

m0nkrus is great for adobe software. I downloaded his mega pack which includes the whole suite.

it's an HP based on ryzen. the ID is "HP 15s-eq1706nz" I tried looking for info on internet and asking in a few forums but the model does not seem popular and HP wont provide linux drivers. I tried a lot of stuff like editing configs and such but nothing worked. The interesting thing is that when booting from a live USB, the touchpad works perfectly but after installing it isn't even recognised.

I wasn't expecting much, I just heard of it and tried it out but it's good!! The question of ai conscience feels very pertinent rn and the story is fun. I like the choices and different paths that we can take

Never hears of nerdctl. What is the feature that would make it better than podman for you?

That makes sense thanks. I did have trouble figuring out where to start with ansible, do you have any advice about that?

Ombi*

They probably meant ombi

Does ansible make sense for a single server? I like the concept but I don't know if It makes sense for my purpose.

Ah I understand about the dHT. There must be a way to find the original source tho right? I'm not sure I agree when you say that the site is as trustable as you. Sites and uploaders are vetted. That's why there's a wiki, if a trusted uploaded includes malware he would be banned, if he isn't banned, the site would be removed from the wiki.
