It crashes the entire systemui sometimes if I try to open it from the task bar, and it breaks multitasking until a reboot sometimes if I try to set it next to another app that's open. Even if it "works" and I resize it it picks some arbitrary post I commented on some earlier time the app was open to fling itself back to maing me lose whatever I was doing before.

Try Linux Mint or Pop OS. I'm surprised you had an issue with Ubuntu, though I haven't used it since like 16.04 so maybe it just is a pain now.

Given how previous Bethesda games have worked you'll get basic mods like texture replacers and the like for the first few days/weeks until modders figure out some of the differences between FO4's plugins and archives and Starfields then you'll see some more substantial but still basic mods using tools like xEdit until Bethesda releases the creation kit a few months down the line and people can make larger more substantial mods like you see for Skyrim.
