I'm very tech-literate but Discord has always seemed so fucking messy to me. So many channels and emojis and I barely know how to send someone a DM or add them to my friends list or whatever. How on earth are you supposed to keep track of anything?

Instantly paid for the ad free version even though I'm rocking an ad blocker. This is a pristine app, every bit as good as the original Reddit app.

I'm on Jerboa for the moment, it gets the job done, was more intuitive for me than Liftoff. With that said I will 100% be switching to Boost when it's available.

Not so much "my workplace" but at one of the cafes I worked at, the owner was going through a divorce, and living temporarily in his office out the back. As well as having all sorts of power tools and shit lying around (one time I accidentally knocked over an angle grinder, which turned itself on and started spazzing out all over the concrete floor, spraying sparks everywhere and leaving a huge cut in my shoe), he was also dealing a not-insignificant amount of hard drugs out of that office.

People still throw OCD around like they're the world's quirkiest person "oh that's just my OCD lol"

TBH loads of stuff about headphones and audio equipment, gaming and computers, etc. and also discovered loads of great music and movies there.

Have you actually tried making vegetarian meals at home?

Totally this for me and I'm someone who understands how bad Google is. I've been using the same Gmail account for twenty years. It's such an integral part of my everyday life. I have hundreds of stars on maps, a meticulously organised and synced Drive, all my YouTube favourites and subscriptions, Photos that are all mostly geotagged, etc. Degoogling would just be such a major hassle, and all my stuff would never be as nicely integrated ever again.

I'm also a mid-30s dude and I can honestly say cooking and baking has probably been the best skill I have. I bake stuff for my coworkers every now and then and it's always a good time. And cooking a nice meal from scratch for a girl always impresses.

Thankfully none of the games I'm interested in playing have MTX. Indie is where it's at.

lol holy shit.

Expensive drinks when I'm out for dinner etc. But I guess that's the cost of socialising.

I'm 37 and I'd still do that for $250.

I don't mean to steal attention away from Iceland and hope you are all safe, but it's a similar thing in Japan. We're due for a megathrust earthquake that could be way way worse than Fukushima.

As a fountain pen user and fan of stationery, I can assure you not all paper is created equal. For me it's 100% worth paying for the good stuff.

Sadly I can't foresee a future where social media isn't a dominant force. Like what could possibly displace it at this point? Only dismantling GAFAM could make it work.

Yes I am aware of the irony of posting this comment on social media.

You can turn it on/off per site.

Is there any way a customer could figure out they were running a cracked version?

Here in Japan iPhones are massively popular, more than in most other markets. I just Googled it: iPhones are 67%, Android 33%. That's crazy.

The reasons are: people think they're stylish/cool (in Japan this is SUPER important), they think they must be good because they're expensive, and they think Android is 'scary' because they've never used it before. They literally don't know that Android does everything iOS does, usually better/with more customisation, and that it offers way more control (you can make Android even more simple and basic than iOS if you tinker a bit).

To be honest, even talking about places other than Japan, 98% of people probably have never even stopped to think why they're on either Android/iOS - it's only the 2% of people like us who talk about it.

It is funny though that iPhone users here in Japan have so little idea about why their phones aren't working properly, and have to make actual reservations to have a 'genius' look at their phone and fix it for them. Usually it's just clearing cache or something. They also pay literal hundreds of dollars to have their data transferred over when they get a new iPhone, unaware that cloud storage is capable of doing all of this for you for free.

True blue battler!

I use Kodi with a subscription to Real Debrid. Are these options better?

if I say I'm not interested In something they take no notice and send it to my recommendations again regardless.

omg yes fuck this. I constantly get fed entire categories of videos on games which I actively hate; I have never watched a single video for any of them and have said "not interested" to probably 50+ videos, but they still pop up every day.

Weed does not agree with me at all, it sends me into truly horrifying attacks of paranoia. It effects people differently so yeah it's definitely not "completely harmless."

I'll check it out. Kodi definitely does take some nerdy configuration. BTW Fen is much faster than Seren, give it a try.

Another thing that nobody could have foreseen is people posting racist/sexist/hateful stuff in general, and then somebody like their employer digging it up later. Bye bye career and reputation. Those people probably deserve it but still.

I'm waiting for one with an OLED screen and good battery life. New models are coming out all the time and I'm excited to see what's available in a year or two.

My man

First thing I would do? Without question a year-long holiday. I haven't had more than a few days off at a time for over five years.

I loved this game too! But was never able to beat it :(

Fair enough. I'm not at that stage yet, still trying to find communities to join haha.

With the Fen add-on linked with Trakt.

Hey yo I also type 50/50 in Japanese and English and came here wondering if there were any Gboard alternatives out there yet.

I am a long time Solid Explorer user and I've tried MiXPlorer a few times but always went back to Solid. What does MiXPlorer do that Solid can't?

I did get sucked in. I bought a few Filcos (I live in Japan so JIS layout is a must) and recently got the new Keychron K8 Pro JIS for home. It's MUCH nicer all around than the Filcos.

As for headphones, I have a few nice sets, but state of Chinese IEMs these days is SO GOOD that $20-30 can get you some REALLY good sound. I still get a new pair every now and then just to sample new flavours, but I'm finished spending big money on amps and stuff.

I recently got a Qudelix 5K and it has replaced my old desktop amp and all my dongles and stuff in one hit, it's great!

Kodi with a Real Debrid subscription for me.

In Japan, it's LINE. Garbage app but the entire population uses it so.

I also used to run a LOT and now can't anymore cause of injury. Tried swimming but it wasn't enough to keep me in shape due to my age and...indulgent lifestyle.

Going to the gym became my only option and yeah, the results were almost instantaneous. I lost quite a few kilos, felt more energised, and my outward appearance improved.

I think when you consider the positives it makes a lot of sense...

  • You feel good for challenging yourself, and even better when you succeed.

  • You feel good full stop because exercise gives your endorphins.

  • You feel good for sticking to a routine. This has the added benefit of demanding that you are more organised generally, in order to make time for workouts.

  • You feel good because you start to look better.

  • You feel good because it helps to relieve day-to-day stress that builds up.

I'm not aiming to get huge or anything. But I think the benefits should be pretty obvious. I enjoy going for the reasons I just listed and cause I can listen to music on my headphones and kind of zone out.

Tunic is the best new game I have played in a long time. It's very very clever. It's definitely not just a Zelda clone, or an isometric Soulslike. I 100% recommend it but DO NOT LOOK ANYTHING UP BEFOREHAND. The feeling of discovery it gives you is the best part.
