Why in God's good name would I care about Elon Muskrat's popularity among Democrats?

Since when do his enablers in government give one single flying fuck what the People think?

I can dig it

They probably will. They're aware of and actively foster the "in-group" psychology that plays out in youth social circles. Anyone with a non-Apple phone is excluded as lower class, weird, or less-than. You don't get included in the group chats that are often the center of your peers' social lives because no one wants the annoyance of dealing with the limitations of conversing with a green bubble. You must conform, purchase the correct products, and sign over your life to the correct social media platforms if you want to participate in society.

LOL I always knew that creepy Life360 shit would come back to bite people in the ass eventually.

Couldn't possibly agree more. One of the biggest barriers to sharing my enthusiasm for Linux with my friends is filtering out all of the cringey anime weeb shit that somehow gets posted along with it. Why does open source software need to be associated with creepy drawings of little girls? Absolutely the worst vibes.

Don't you love how Saudi Arabia, the country who was very obviously behind 9/11, hasn't suffered a single negative consequence as a result of their actions? They literally got away with 9/11. And then the US invaded some unrelated countries. Mind blowing.

The kids are exposed to these hyper addictive algorithms, and the garbage content that gains ubiquity as a result, from a super young age. There is no way it's not screwing up development.

It's a strategy to push customers toward the more expensive models. Their markup is massive, it's a blatant profit move.

The artist really captured the soul of his subject

Why does he appear embalmed in the thumbnail?

Good Lord. Was Dungeons and Dragons conceived and engineered from the ground up for the specific purpose of exploiting the dopamine pathways in children's brains? Not so much. Sounds like tiktok has successfully eroded the minds of others in this thread.

LOL I'm never retiring. I've already accepted that I'll be working until I'm dead. There are those who get dealt the right cards and will get to retire comfortably. I'm just not one of them.

I dropped Instagram, and couldn't be happier to have left that cesspool behind. No Facebook, no Instagram, no Tik Tok, no Snapchat, no LinkedIn, no no no. I'm done with the bullshit. Need to contact me? Then you probably already have my phone number, text or call. Don't have my number? Sounds like you probably don't need to get in touch with me, then.

I want it to be adopted by Framework

Supposedly, if you put a slice of bologna on a regular, painted car panel overnight, it will peel the paint off with it. I don't know if that's true or not. The cyber truck doesn't have paint so it's irrelevant, but that's the one automotive bologna anecdote that I know of.

Ofc, Apple being Apple, I wouldn't put it past them to artificially "break" things or arbitrarily introduce limits between RCS and iMessage

That's where my money is

I hope Framework takes note and is working on their own ARM laptop.

The American Gestapo exist to enforce their feelings and advance the interests of wealthy property owners.

This is not the brat summer I've been hearing about, I assume?

Trying to ban AI is like trying to ban math. Or staple Jello to a tree. It just doesn't work that way.

Maybe the dumbest possible idea here from government regulators. You think you're going to somehow legislate certain geometry out of existence? "Sorry, you can't print that ILLEGAL SHAPE with the printer you own!" Same vacant headed assholes that think they can ban encryption. Fuck off, shrivel up and perish, please.

Apple doesn't "share a lot of the blame." The blame belongs solely to Apple and their insistence on a closed ecosystem. They intentionally hamstring any cross functionality with competing devices, even features as simple as text messaging. It's important for Apple to foster a cult-like mentality among their consumers.

When I deleted my Instagram, I was initially hesitant because "my friends were all on it." But when none of them ever spoke to me again outside of Instagram, I understood that they were not friends.

Glad you posted this, it reminded me to update my Lemmy content filter! Up to now, I've just filtered out any headline including the word "slam, slammed, or slams." Because those headlines are garbage. Now I've remembered I need to add the word "blast, blasted, and blasts," because those are garbage too. Thanks!!

LOTO? Never heard of her.

It's really sad how propaganda transforms our loved ones into people we don't want to be around ☹️

Made a living doing VO for several years before AI ate most of the market. Basically you just work under contracts and hope for the best. If your client breaks contract maybe you can sue if you have the resources. I've sent a few C&D's that successfully stopped some people from using my voice commercially after having paid me a non-profit rate. The majority of the time, the contract is enough to keep clients in line.

From what, exactly? Refugees trying to survive after Israel blew up their homes? That's who was in the camp Israel blew up.

Tik Tok's design clearly taps into psychological principles that drive addiction. The infinite scroll and unpredictable content rewards work like slot machines in a dopamine-driven feedback loop. This keeps users glued to their screens, often without realizing how much time has passed. The For You feed continuously adapts to like a million data tracking points, and spits out a constant stream of whatever content it deems most likely to keep you scrolling. Neuroscientists have pointed out that heavy TikTok use can reduce attention spans and increase the need for instant gratification which are effects tied to dopamine stimulation. Obviously bytedance isn't going to publicize the proprietary research they used to accomplish this. But the app clearly uses these engagement-maximizing techniques. That also goes for Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Reddit (they wish lol) and the rest of them. But in tiktok's case, it's an export from an adversarial nation, and you only need to look at the internally approved version of tiktok for Chinese users, which promotes a completely different kind of content.

For those who don't care to read the full article

Or even the whole title, really

Must be on a press tour. He was just on Lex Fridman, and Lex was disappointingly soft on him.

I recently left a job that most people would consider to be a very "cool" job. I previously would have considered the restaurant industry to be in this category of "you couldn't pay me enough." But I took a job as a cook, and it's honestly been pretty good. I am getting used to the work, I get to exercise some creativity, the results are immediate and feedback from satisfied customers is nice. So I guess that changes over time.
