The only thing that keeps me with subscriptions is the cartoons my daughter watches, because they are hard to find dubbed in my language (Portuguese). It's still more convenient to subscribe than try to find the dubbed cartoons online. For everything I watch I use my arr stack.

That's why I moved to fedora recently...didn't like to see 30 or so mounted filesystems every time I did an fdisk -l to mount some disk

I've been using DDG for a year and like the search results but what bothers me is that you can't exclude a word from your query with minus sign!

Nice NFT collection you got there. If we were back in 2022 you'd definitely sell them for some eth.

I use a monetary argument.. If my data can become revenue to the company then I must have a part of this revenue ..if they are not paying me for my property (my data) then I should keep my data from them

I read the 3 books! Your joke is awesome!

Looks like I'm not changing my almost 10 year HP LaserJet printer after all..

Wow people still use conky! Last time I tried using it, Linux was in kernel 2.6.

Yeah convenience is what still keeps me on subscriptions. With torrents I have to find 2 versions of the movie or with I have luck I can find a dual audio version. Besides that I have to find the subtitles for the movie.. Sometimes is hard to find a synchronized one in the first try..sometimes jellyfin just doesn't show the subtitles right and the text gets out of sync even with the right sub file..too much trouble

Yeah I bought an ubuntu laptop in 2018..don't know what's the news here...

I have a small 1tb collection ..love jellyfin and it's UI but I miss kodi when it comes to scrapping metadata and playing all formats ...I use jellyfin mostly because of its ui and because my crappy TV can't handle kodi very well

That's the best approach IMO but till she can watch a cartoon and understand it may be take a while..so in the mean time I'm kinda tied to streaming.

I'm using foot since I've installed sway and it's just fine ..not a super user to evaluate well

I know is not a Dreamcast exclusive but I love Tony Hawks pro skater 2 and played it a lot in my DC! Also, Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi.

Last time I tried aws, took me like four hours to figure that I had to borrow another IP address (different than the ip I received when created the instance) in order point it at my domain. Took me a long time find that option in the menu too

Edit:added cohesion and some punctuation.

I open developer tools every day doing that!

Jazz jackrabbit and Winamp ❤️❤️

Good Lord I've used ffmpeg for years to convert my videos and just realized today it's name could be a naughty search word in adult sites

I always choose the 12 subscribers Indian guy first when I need a good too specific step by step tutorial ..theyre the best!

I'm a noobie:

  • portainer
  • pihole
  • wireguard server
  • jellyfin
  • youtube-dl
  • nextcloud
  • tor/privoxy
  • freshrss
  • minetest server
  • nginx proxy manager

All running locally on a 2008 lenovo core 2 duo with 2gb, 1 120gb SSD, 1 1tb HDD and 1 250gb HDD...couldn't open the services to the web since my ISP blocks every port (except 52180 udp) even if I open them in the router sothey can change the double on a fixed IP withppen ports in their "enterprise" package

Yeah or you pay with your data or you pay with your money and they still steal your data like YouTube premium and etc

If you run it bare metal (not in a dockercontainers for example) it's quite easy to set it up on a raspberry pi or other hardware. The wife would even know it's existence if you don't tell her and use a standard config in the blocklists ..give it a try ..you're gonna love it

That keyboard reminded me of my first computer 233mhz PC

Back in the day I had the idea to install Debian, but then for some reason I added a bunch of Ubuntu and other debian version sources in the sources.list to install some program I wanted .. Can't remember what happened but I do remember having to install the OS again .. Ubuntu this time

Wow I remember playing lost vikings in my uncle's desktop when I was a kid

Cool..gonna ask them to see if I can download this 60s album from a Brazilian musician

I think you're totally right! It's kinda hard to use banking apps with a custom ROM already.. Unless some big corporation makes a move into something different we're gonna be stucked in the iOS and Android chains ..In that case I wish Microsoft would have been successful with their mobile OS so other companies had the guts to launch their own and compete in a more fragmented market

Sure..I wouldnt choose fedora for a server..maybe RHEL..I chose debian for my home server..can't go wrong with debian in the server 😅

Maybe I'm not used to quality products as I'm poor in a poor country but I really loved my inspiron 14 ...I bough it back in 2011 and decided to buy a new dell laptop in 2019 (inspiron too) because the 14R had died and the tech guy said it was the motherboard. I've never had any issues with them ..the 14R is all plastic and looks fragile but I dropped it some times and it never broke. The new inspiron I got has an aluminum structure so looks it handles more falls hahaha. Anyway, I had a great experience with dell inspiron laptops regarding hardware and Linux compatibility but I'm not a demanding user. I intend to keep buying dell laptops in the future. Hey turns out the 14R just needed a new power supply and it's running Fedora smoothly since I upgraded it's ram.

Wow... I mean,if you paid for your music and don't want to share it,OK ..just don't share it

I'm gonna try asking for the files thanks

Yeah you're probably right about that, I'm no expert and this make a lot of sense ..I hope to see XMR face this transaction load issue..that would mean more people using it

Nice! Makes me wanna leave xfce for a while and try KDE. It's been like 8 years since the last time I tried it.

I've dropped MIUI for the stock ROM UI and the Lineage with microg OS ..my Poco x3 NFC got great! ..until my banking app started blocking non official android systems ...

I have a Poco x3 NFC because it's cheap for the hardware it delivers and I have no money to buy a Pixel Phone ..it runs Lineage OS with microg to degoogle it

Pihole won't keep you from watching ads,for what I know its because google uses the same servers to serve the content and the ads.Pihole is great to browse the web though.. I have it at home. For me what gets the job done is newpipe for my android phone and Smartube on my Android TV.

Yeah I can understand that about leechers..that's why I tried to run a docker container to have my files accessible 24/7 in my home server. The same thing with torrent.. I let the files a long time seeding to give back what I took. I hope I slowly find some cool music from people that let me download..gonna try asking them to share the folder to see if I get luck..thanks

Does your ISP allow you to get external requests on port 80? Mine doesn't...And I figured that the hard way trying to access my jellyfin server. Are you behind CGNAT?

Cool..I'm gonna try that so I don't get frustrated to find some cool music that I'm not able to download.
