This type of advertising is the death-knell of any site, because at that point you're interacting with an advert with some extra elements rather than a site with ads.

Political? For everyone outside of America that's just common sense.

The way things are on there I can't even tell if this is just a joke.

I use Linux exclusively for gaming. Sometimes there's a performance hit or weird bug, but mostly it runs very well, occasionally better than on Windows. I have quite often heard of windows players complaining about older games no longer running properly, and I've often had no problems with these on Linux, for example the original Dead Space.

However there are technologies which are still quite some ways off. Rtaytracing is improving but still a generation behind windows in terms of performance and support. HDR is barely supported anywhere. Variable refresh rate, is supported in some instances, but not universally, e.g. Gnome doesn't support it yet for Wayland. I don't know anything much about VR but would suspect it may not be very well supported yet either.

I'm on another instance but it's making me rather uncomfortable that a lot of the traffic is happening on an instance that seems like it's 90 CCP members and Russian trolls.

If they were worried data being scooped up for AI training, they would have approached it differently. What they did was target 3rd party apps to drive people to their app so they can get tracking data and push ads.

It unfortunately is very much the intent, but they don't want to say that up front because no one would join.

I wouldn't take it as face value, it reads more like a deliberate leak to the press, than an actual email to employees.

Not that warming people not to identify themselves as Reddit employees isn't a sensible message, emotions are high and it only takes one crazy person.

Honestly they don't seem to be bothered about denying human rights violations they seem to think they're a good thing.

People as deep into the ideology as people on here are think the dog whistles are signposts.

Plus the 1991 game Lemmings.

Most Reddit posts referring to lemmy direct people to lemmy.ml it's effectively the landing page of the platform and if that landing page is being used to recruit people into a shitty authoritarian ideology then that taints the entire platform.

The thing I find wild here is that this presumably Marxist mod is banning criticism of 2023 Russia and China. Russia in 2023 is straight up fascist and China while with more communist dressing is also a capitalist hellscape - like most of the world.

On Reddit it seemed like the dumbest crap I posted always got up voted and anything not completely dumb got down voted, so I always was happy when something got down voted at least a bit.

One of the people I was taking too was complaining that people were surprised that it was tanky when it was "obvious" from the domain name that it was Marxist Leninist.

Nah. I think the ".ml" means Marxist Leninist to them. At least that's what one of the tanky types I chatted to on lemmy.ml said.

Exactly. Hopefully he has actually said that to his people and not just leaked it to the press.

Some of them seem pretty deep in, not sure they have the most rounded world view.

Nice! Been meaning to try this out under proton.

Soma is great. I suspect this one is more gameplay focused than narrative focused though.

Sorry off topic, but any chance you could explain to me what's the difference between up and down voting here Vs. karma? Are they not all just fake internet points?

I'm playing signals. At the moment, it seems good. From what I've played it's more trippy horror than horror horror.

I second Alien Isolation, it's still very good.

Played Amnesia Rebirth, which is pretty hated. I didn't hate it but it was obviously doing a lot of work to fill out lore for a game that I hadn't played.

Cool. I guess that means karma (upvote) farming shouldn't be a thing.

Great list. And the first Talos principle was great (DLC less so). Also the ending had a great build up to the end, but the actual end cutscene was a little meh.

This is happening on lemmy.ml I can cope with there being instances for tankies, what's bothering me is one of the main instances pretending their not so that they can push straight up recruitment shit at people who don't know.

Follow the link, that's happening on lemmy.ml not lemmygrad.ml.

Follow the link and tell me that isn't straight up blur the lines recruitment BS.
