My favorite is probably hedonism bot. I just love the idea. I mean who build him? And why?

But it influences the community itself, doesn't it? If you have a bunch of parrots saying what they think others want to hear suddenly you have a lot less real interactions and way more "reddit moments"... I like how mastodon did it and maybe lemmy should also provide the option to hide likes/dislikes alltogether.

Raspberry Pi4? Then yes, here's a guide to update your bootloader:

https://www.raspberrystreet.com/learn/how-to-boot-raspberrypi-from-usb-ssd

For older models(Pi<4), no but kinda: Afaik oder models could only boot from SD-cards. But that only means the bootloader has to be on the SD-card. So you can copy everything but the bootpartition and change the entry in the /etc/fstab to the new root on the SSD.

Look at his post history. He doesn't want to shit for three days. Didn't elaborate. Fucking legend.

Aren't some dried fruit laxative? Ate a bag of dates once, and boy did I have to run to the shitter.

We're way past that.

Oh yeah, good idea! Before this strike I only heard of Mastodon. Didn't like it because it was so twitter-esque. I wasn't even aware that there are other federated networks which are similar to reddit... If all of my posts and comments said something like "user moved to lemmy.world" I'd spread the word that there are alternatives.

Yeah but it fits the quote better i think. Definitely suits your profile name ;)

Yeah I agree, tags like "gore/violence" and "sexually explicit" would be nice.

Maybe that would be a good community. You know, like 2westernEurope4u but instance-based memes and banter.

Plus every time someone makes a dick size joke I think about randy marshs dick size formula. The time and effort he spend to make his dick be average size always cracks me up.

Like who cares about your dick size? Relatively few people get to see it anyways and if they judge you for it you're probably better of without them.

Then be the racoon. Drive up the cost. Upload hour-long videos of white noise or pictures of John Oliver beeing sexy. I think I am going to create a couple of throwaway accounts just to show how unprofitable reddit can be ;)

Those usernames are so unimaginative. Who would pick a name like that?

I used to be an adventurer like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

A fellow cs mayor I see, no I apreciate the thoroughness. You are right I was trying to put it in laymans terms and might have been a little to cursory.

I gotta disagree on the pseudo randomness tho. At least in linux /dev/random generates its entropy pool by using device drivers. So there is no simple algorithm behind it where you can copy a seed. So you would have to to copy the system state and all external events happening (eg. the ethernet network traffic) to generate the same output.

I just did some more research and aparently my intel was a bit outdatet (from arount 2020). The guide should still work, though booting from SSD should be working by default and does not require any eeprom-updates. So you can probably start with step 4.

Oh you meant literal raccoons, sorry my tired ass was still thinking of them metaphorically :D I don't know, beeing an animal and not having to work is cool and all, but I like my opposable thumbs.

Tl,dr: Yes it is, but your ROM and recovery must be signed.

Oh sorry on Jerboa it does not show Community descriptions and I did not see the rules. But I am kind of curious tho, does it need do be worded like that? I wrote you should know this, if you want to keep the costs down, doesn't that count? :P

Yeah, but honestly i think both are kinda stupid. we should use something sensible like base 16(easy conversion to binary but better readability) or base 12(easily divisible by 2, 3 and 4).

Oh yeah good point, I didn't think about server side compression. But I think noise videos might still be worse, since they provide no additional content for the platform.

My stomach rumbled just reading the word lol
