Yesterday I saw a beehaw (I think) community thread which got locked by the beehaw mods but because it was federated ppl on other instances could still comment. I think !selfhosted would be still be up on your instance if lemmy.world went down.

Self hosting (on Jellyfin, etc.) the content you want is probably the best way to watch stuff on mobile, but not sure it fits your use case.
pixelfed.org might be what you're looking for.
Don't think I'm even close
For me, I liked the ability to swipe left and right between subreddits (the order on which you could configure), you could also swipe between posts. It's also open source and pretty customisable. Unfortunately it's not been updated in over a year.
This is probably the only reason I still visit reddit.

Really liking the look of summit, but it's lacking a lot of features still.
There's also slide, but it's very bare bones at the moment. Think you can only really log in and view posts and comments. A lot of copy over from the reddit app which hasn't been updated yet.

I think it's far down on their list of things to do unfortunately.
