Honest at this point I wouldn't even blink if Prigozhin popped up in the future to tell us they faked their deaths.
To be clear, I believe that he's dead (and that it was probably an assassination by Putin), but so many other outrageous things have happened already little surprises me.
Both can be true. That Israel has been terrorising Palestinians, and that HAMAS is terrorising Israel.
This is something that I've been thinking about and came to the realisation of the last couple of months.
And this is exactly what Russia's objective was after the disaster of last year. Politically and strategically is the best they can hope for. Drag it out and Ukraine's allies and the world will get tired and stop caring. They'll stop supplying weapons, and sanctions will soften, maybe even start leaning towards supporting or feeling sorry for Russia. Something that were already seeing with Slovakia cutting all aid to Ukraine and taking a 'war is bad, negotiate peace' stance that is a blatant and thinly veiled Russian supportive line. Which is funny since their new govt is Russia leaning.
US are also starting to waver recently with the whole House Speaker débâcle. And Poland/Ukraine relations are a little frosty at the minute too.
That's before you even talk about the Russian strikes on the Ukrainian/Romanian border that are being almost ignored in relation to their severity. Or the Russian mining of the Black Sea. Or Russian missiles flying paths over Maldova on their way to Ukraine. It's a piss take. And only a matter of time unless the world pulls its finger out.
This isn't necessarily a message to transgender people as individuals, but more a message to their followers that they cannot use their religion as an excuse for their bigotry and ignorant hatred.
Just because it may not make a difference overnight it doesn't mean that it isn't a step in the right direction.
Don't look up.
That can be said about any app.
If my airforce was comprised in bulk of early to mid era cold war museum pieces with a (very) small handful of late cold war era jets as my flagship units then I would be impressed with anything developed after 1991 as well.
I mean, that's fair enough in itself. There's plenty of nations out there still rocking their Falcons, Flankers, Frogfoots, Frogger, Tornados, Mirages etc etc completely respectedly. But they also allow their pilots more stick time in half a year than the vast majority of NK's pilots get in half a decade.
An act of war is only such if the other side recognises it as such.
So if Mexico decide to see this has an isolated incident that can sorted out with some phone calls and hand wringing then it 'quite literally' isn't.
And of course that's what going to happen. To the point where it's not even worth mentioning that war will happen. In short, a rediculous comment.
It's not nerves, but ligaments and tendons that are linked, in basic terms.
Hobbies aren't supposed to be about whether they're a good financial consideration, they're about passion, self fulfillment and looking after yourself.
What a child.
There's a sentence in this that every single reply to this has either ignored or missed, and that's the part where you think he's autistic.
From the small snapshot of his life and personality that you've offered it does seem that he shows some pretty clear signs. It may be that he doesn't even realise. I know that I've very recently come to realise that I'm obviously autistic and I'm very much an adult. How everyone around me throughout my entire life missed it/didn't realise is absolutely boggling.
Whether he's diagnosed or not shouldn't change that it should be handled with the appropriate sensitivities and equality policies as if he was autistic. But that's entirely up to your work place and it's culture.
You all need to remember that while you 'only' have to be around then during the times you're around him, he has always got to deal with being autistic, whether he knows he is or not. And from the sounds of things he may not be very good at masking, which is both good and bad for him. As a person who seems to be neurotypical, you live in a world that is designed for neurotypical people. He isn't and doesn't. Imagine being forced to live in a world where you need wheelchair ramps, but there are none provided - anywhere. He needs mental ramps.
You are more than entitled and allowed to not want to deal with him or be around him, please don't take this as saying that expect you to do that. But there needs to be sensitivity and an understanding of his struggles. If he is autistic, he cannot help the way he approaches situations or how he feels when you rebuff him. To him being told he's annoying is clearly something he's taking very, very personally. Take it from someone who is also autistic, it's horrible. I feel like my entire existence is being rejected, and it sticks and I ruminate on it for hours sometimes days.
So speak to HR first, see what their equality policy is, and what options that they have. Hopefully the company culture and policy recognises that a diagnosis isn't always possible or needed. And take it from there. Ultimately I think that some of the responses about finding time where you can separate yourself from him is the most likely solution.
Pfft. Sounds like free cars to me.
Would have been nice if they had left the keys...I think I would have considered it if I knew I wasn't coming back. But those all look like they were driven by the rich.
Hopefully the local authority do something interesting with them when they get ownership. Donating Ukraine for example. I'd imagine that even if they are too difficult to get keys for they, the more common/utilitarian vehicles can break for important spares.
That said, I'm sure then cars pictured are likely indicative of the whole range that has been left,, so probably not.
I wouldn't say it's always a BMW driver, but I would say of course it's a BMW.
In the same vein, 'long weekend' is another that can drop dead as well.
To the point where I've started calling a 'normal' weekend a 'short weekend'.
Don't be disengenuous. It's more than that and you know it.
This didn't happen before their sons, brothers, fathers, friends, boyfriends and husbands starting coming back missing body parts, with PTSD, dead or not even at all.
Then suddenly explosives started falling out the sky on your doorstep after the above started happening and Ukrainian flags started randomly popping up places.
I know it won't convince all, propaganda is strong with the uneducated and those the regime directly made. But there are plenty who aren't thick or have any particular loyalty to Putin.
Ah, talking about the porn they consume, but adverse to using a swear word.
A gentleman in the sheets.
One does not excuse the other.
Asbestos is respiratory, nothing to do with brain development or damage.
Well that would be the logical thing to do.
Kick of the heavier passengers and they don't have to remove as many total people. Which is overall better as you're creating travel problems for fewer people.
Although unless you're like 20st then it's unlikely that it would matter a great deal whether you pick the weightier people since they'll be making the calculation based on a formula that attributes a set value to passenger weight.
Using crunch as an example of their progressiveness isn't really a good data point, Rockstar haven't released a title since RDR.
Talk is cheap when you know you're not going to be releasing a new title for ankther decade, but when it comes to the punch, that's when the proof will be in the pudding.
Have you been paying attention in the past 5 years?
Aspartame has been in common usage as a sugar alternative for literally decades.
If it was harmful or potent enough to be dangerous on a public or individual health risk then we would have certainly known about it by now. At this stage, even WHO, are saying it's needed in HUGE concentrations.
Diet sodas aren't the only things that we consume that contains aspartame. And aspartame isn't the only thing we're exposed to that has been linked to cancer and other deseases.
Just get on with life, enjoy what you enjoy in moderation. Don't put too much thought into it otherwise you'll just end up living in fear and avoiding everything.
How's that going for them?
It's exciting for someone. And it's not the end user.
Wait until you hear that Budanov liked his Strava post.
It's about time. The 'Right' has been well ahead of the game in the way they've been able to weaponise social media for a long time.
I feel sorry for your patients who have you as their caregiver.
I think the biggest reaction will be that it will likely also impact the US and other markets. Just like with the previous EU regulation that mandated that everyone standardises on the same cables (USBC) it benifited the rest of the world as it was just cheaper to design and manufature one phone rather than multiple for the different markets. Probably the same here to.
I am curious to see how they will design around this requirement though. Curretly we've been 'spoiled' with some very sleek and clean designs, but if designers have to find a way for them to be easily openable either tooless or with non-propreietry tools and all the rest of it then it may change this.
Although, to be fair, I have noticed that phones have recently started getting bigger, heavier and clunkier. For example the difference between my recently retired Pixel 5 and new Pixel 7a is night and day. I actually regret upgrading - if it wasn't for my son being 'due' for a new phone and being a little skint at the moment (easy 'free' birthday present), I wouldn't have switched.
I think that Lemmy.World is anti-NSFW if I understand my own journey trying to figure this stuff out yesterday, as a matter of fact.
This instance, for whatever reason seems to block NSFW posts from appearing (even if you hace it set up to show on your account settings).
To get around this you can view the comments in a community and see the posts that way, which is handy to see if it is an active community.
But what I did was create an account on Lemmynsfw.com and then linked it to my Liftoff! app, I think all other apps give you the ability to link multiple instances as well. The benefit of this lets you have different lists totally separate to each other as well. If you just want to see your normal feed the browse your normal .World instance, but when you want to see boobies and bottoms then flick it over.
I doubt it was for anything to do with compliance. More that it was just PSA trying something out. PSA Group marques are fairly well known for doing unusual things, even if it isn't financially viable.
From the wiki:
In 1995, Peugeot launched an electric powered version of the 106, called the 106 Electrique. This was offered in a number of European countries including France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Norway and the United Kingdom.
The electric powertrain was developed and built by French engineering company Heuliez. The car used Nickel-cadmium battery technology manufactured by Saft Groupe S.A., had a top speed of 56 mph (90 km/h) and had an official range of 100 km (62 mi).
Despite the high price of the vehicle, Peugeot anticipated demand for around 15,000 to 20,000 Peugeot 106 Électriques each year, with an expected total production run of 100,000 vehicles. In the end, only 6,400 Peugeot 106 Électriques were sold between 1995 and 2003, most purchased by the French Administration.

To me that reads like the French govt thought that a fleet of small EVs would be useful for their staff to use for short metropolitan/LA travel thinking that it would reduce fuel/servicing costs or something. For that, it's specs are totally adequate.
Seems that they outsourced the manufacturering to Heuliez who are a coachbuilder who probably sourced some kind of milk float drive train and stuck in the body and chassis delivered to them by Peugeot.
Selling it on a wider market beyond the French govt was likely a 'well, we've gone through this effort, and we're building them anyway, might as well sell them to the public and see what happens'.
Obviously, like everyone else who tried it around the same time, they realised that it was just too soon to try tech wise. And the French govt also realised that there was little benefit to overcome the list of negatives. From things I read in trying to find out more about them, at least some are being kept on the road by replacing the batteries with LiOn and more modern e-motors. One example had a BMW i3 motor retrofitted.
This particular example was in the middle of the Angus countryside, with two toddler sized car seats on the back bench, so I suspect that it wasn't entirely as it was as it left the factory in 1998 and likely had a bit more power at its disposal.
Which are only needed as a result of bigger and heavier cars.
I'll be curious to see how much of an impact this has really made when someone gets around to publishing the metrics.
I would like to hope that Reddit has take a significant traffic hit due this whole API bullshit, but I honestly wouldn't be all suprised if it was less than 10%.
But we will wait and see.
It says they wanted to protect the unborn baby. Not the born one.
Duh.
It doesn't take a genius to realise this. The tempo of attacks during last winter was what it was and now almost suddenly they barely launch a handful a week in comparison.
Knowing roughly what their monthly production volumes are of ~50 per month across their various systems as of last winter, they haven't been expending anywhere near that amount. The missiles have to be going somewhere, and it's obviously into stockpile. https://jamestown.org/program/russias-estimated-storage-of-cruise-missiles-may-2023/
It is absolutely imperative that we get as many of the needed AD systems into Ukrainian hands ASAP in preparation for this coming onslaught. Another consideration that isn't being discussed is that we should have been stockpiling spare parts and supporting infrastructure for their utility infrastructure (transformers, generators, tents and such) so that they're able to quickly make required repairs and provide shelter to those that need it in the event of inevitable successful strikes.
Tbf, this is a Reddit community. If you don't want to see stuff from this community either unsub or hide if from your All/Local feed.
The FBI say the median number of shots to end a citizen involved shooting is 6 rounds. That's a person v person shooting.
Would you still feel comfortable with a revolver knowing that there was a chance you would need to use it?
Personally I don't agree with the concept of weapons for citizen self defence (vs people), it getting to that point is a total and systematic failure of every system in place that lead to that point; from mental healthcare, to education. Law enforcement to the media broadcast. However the topic is the US, and they are what they are at present. And it's a legally legitimate option.
The fact that I am arguing is that magazine size is so completely irrelevant. It's a quick fix easy sticky plaster political knee jerk, just like every other stupid and shitty ban or regulation.
The fact is that you can't ban gun in the US. It's just impossible. There's too many of them that any change in law in that regard would take generations to see effect and there are too many people that live in circumstances where there is a genuine reason for ownership and use (as you know living in Australia. Drop Bears).
People in the US need to admit that the solution is from the bottom. Improving education, mental healthcare, reducing extremism, eradicating the constant divisiveness in everything, etc etc. These things have only really become real in the last 15 years against 100s of years of ingrained firearm 'rights'. But that's too hard. So just make a piece of plastic that's a bit smaller than what it once was.
710 personel is a pretty big number. Must have been a big day.
The idea that Elon Musk and Andrew Tate think that publically backing him helps quash any suggestion of bad actions is laughable.
