Fuck my life, I know what I need to do but I still am not

Do you have some before and after screenshots? Would be interesting to look at the difference

This might be one of the worse infographics I've ever laid my eyes on

I don't understand the negativity. This is objectively good news. Would y'all rather people not donate to the Mozilla foundation? This hostile cynicism against Mozilla popping up time and again is getting old.

I feel like partly because of this infighting is why stupid stuff like brave and chrome keeps on getting recommended and more and more popular. Like I understand we're supposed to hold Mozilla to a higher standard and all. But I am really tired of this constant infighting among not just privacy/FOSS enthusiasts but also among the climate movement or left leaning people in general. This need for absolute 100% alignment with one's goals/beliefs gets no progress done. At some point y'all need to look at the bigger picture and root for the David fighting against the Goliath. FFS does it really need to be spelt out that how big of a loss it'd be for the vision of a free and open internet if orgs like Mozilla aren't around‽

Umm, this isn't about that DRM

Damn. Wow, it seems like Mozilla is getting more fired up lately. They are also actively communicating (recent couple of AMAs) and listening to their users (through Mozilla connect and working on much requested features)!

Yes, as much as I appreciate memory safety and rust in particular. I'm very worried by this pivot away from copyleft and GPL. Specially the rewriting in rust phenomenon of fundamental stuff. It's safer, yes, but they're all pretty much non GPL and it seems very risky to me. Make no mistake, the industry is riding this wave to move away from copyleft to permissive licenses.

I wish that people understood the importance of FSF and GNU

The entire point of F droid is that they reliably, openly and securely build APKs which are reproducible and guaranteed to correspond to an upstream source tarball. Then they sign with their own keys since they are the ones who do the actual building

Blazingly fast 🚀

I highly recommend GNU units for stuff like this. It's insanely powerful. See the following comment for its immense versatility

I'm a bit behind on these immutable distros and have a small question. People keep saying you can just switch to another image if you want to switch desktop environments. But how does this solve the problem of the config files of the various DEs (GTK rc files or other theme stuff) messing with each other in the home directory? Because this was always a pain in the ass in normal distros

Precisely. When trying to talk to others about this, I usually use the term activation energy

Understanding it doesn't help in alleviating it, though.

Oh that's a shame. I used that website a lot to find active communities across instances

It uses the magnetic field sensor on the phone (compass). It can only detect magnetically active metals and also kinda weakly, but it's quite fun!

Anybody have any news on Firefox inbuilt translations? It would be fantastic if it made its way to android
