I don't trust people with fire-proof tents.

Poland and Hungary also did fairly well, if I'm not mistaken

Or so his supporters can say that he didn't lose due only to his own incompetence.

Can confirm, I'm ginger.

Yeah, the weekly sacrifices I have to do, are taking a toll on me

Cyrillic seems really difficult with all the vowel shifts, English doesn't even make sense in its own alphabet. Something like "Ай эм де лорд, дай год." then?

SVGs are just fancy text files after all

Not an American, but I really don't get these stories. It has to be legal to enter somebody's driveway, right? How else are you supposed to ring someone's doorbell?

Something tells me you don't know what nihilism is

Beest is just Dutch and Afrikaans for animal

It's disturbing how common this mindset already is.

It's about how ocean temperature changes how global winds blow. It's complicated on local level, but global temperatures tend to be higher during el Niño and lower during la Niña.

These large companies really need to learn that AI isn't a good tool for black and white decisions.

Right now I'm working on a system with drones and image recognition for farmers to prioritise where to use pesticides, in order to decrease the use of pesticides in the EU. For these things AI systems work really well, since it's just prioritising regions.

It's a bad idea to use it to make discrete decisions.

Would it be possible to argue that this is copyright infringement? They're basically screencapping copyrighted content at a shitty framerate and distributing it over the internet.

I put Haskell as last language on my CV, despite it being the language I'm most comfortable with and genuinely like, just because I don't want to be "that" guy

EDIT: I'll never put TI-84+ calculator ASM on my CV, but damn, I'm proud I knew it in secondary school

While I wouldn't comment something like that myself, as I think it's not productive, it's quite strange as a Linux user to see these posts like "The makers of the OS I use on the computer I paid money for and now own are trying to screw me over in a new way today. How can I fix it?"

Dealing with American colleagues feels really weird sometimes. They're either very happy or really not amused.

Is it just me, or is it really difficult to know the order to read the panels of a comic in when they change so much in size? Feels very chaotic to me

But you've installed Linux on it, right?

Labour is expensive

Not American, but I try to buy most of my daily stuff from independent places instead of supermarkets. The social contacts at my local butcher, bakery, vegetable shop, fish shop, ... is also much more enjoyable than stressing in the Colruyt or whatever. And the produce is way better.

Once they get to know you, they often give freebies too, like offcuts to make bouillon. And you get free cooking tips as well!

People's body temperature used to be higher a century ago, but I think it was less then 1°C.

EDIT: Apparently since the early 1800s, men's body temperature changed about 0.59°C and women's about 0.32°C.

Good point, I hadn't thought of it that way

I'm looking forward to new Technical Difficulties stuff!

Every systemd-based distro should look like that indeed

Wayland. I'm quite happy not to have to delve into xorg.conf for my keyboard layout.

Why isn't there any competition in the printer space except for Brother? Are printers really that hard to make?

I switched to sway from i3 about 5 years ago. It's easier to configure (no /etc/X11 nonsense) and it fixed my screen tearing issue. I'm not much of a gamer, so can't comment on that. Supertuxkart and browser games work fine.

Hey, but I managed to write software to calibrate µCT-scanners! That is clearly way more inspiring than all this fictional stuff. Right! Right. Right?

And over here the state-funded media is getting less money every year because our right-wing parties don't like it.

NoScript makes it fairly easy to pick and choose what scripts to run, although it'd probably not be granular enough for YouTube's adblockblock.

I hope the YouTube Kodi plugin stays working, otherwise I'll have to write a script to download all latest videos in my subscription to my home server.

When English isn't your first language, this is a really confusing title.
