Wandering through this whimsical earth. A pirate behind the cloak and tall hat. 17. 🇸🇪/🏴‍☠️

As a non-American, I’m absolutely shocked. I had no idea seemingly more than half the states were anti-trans. I hope Americans will fight against these laws and hopefully eradicate them. My hopes are with y’all.

Welp. I know life isn't perfect... but I try to be optimistic.

Yup, me too. :')

I deleted my Google accounts today and made a Proton email to replace my previous emails with. I’m now using Firefox and DDG, and it honestly feels much fresher now. I’m happy to finally be exploring alternatives to Google and learning about online security and integrity.

Sorry if these have already been suggested... communities equivalent to: r/backpacking r/vagabond r/solotravel r/onebag r/heronebag

I completely understand that. I think the best thing to do is to take one day at a time, like you say. Overthinking about the future can easily bring stress as opposed to hope.

Hey, my week’s been pretty good. I’m on break for the next ~2 months which means sleeping in and no school. Since I travel in my free time as a hobby, I sometimes need to get up early to catch the bus or train, but I think it’s fun nonetheless. I have been making some future goals for myself when it comes to education and what kind of work I want to pursue, which has put my mind at ease. Hoping everybody else is doing great!

These past few weeks I’ve really been getting more and more into programming and online security. I reckon I will learn a lot from this community, and Lemmy in general. The whole Reddit migration thing already taught me plenty about how a corporate app can drive away its users. It feels good to let Google go, and here is to learning more about everything federated and decentralised!

That’s okay - it’s important to do things your own pace and not give in to peer pressure or whatever else people say. My mom recently stopped dyeing her hair and is now embracing the grey look. Everybody should take their time with things, and not being ready yet is just as okay.

It’s great hearing this. I’m glad at least somebody is having an ok time with being older.

I agree that the world is getting seemingly darker by the year. I know that the political climate in many influential countries is going downhill, and how it affects the rest of us regular citizens. I think the reason I’m so optimistic is because frankly, I have wasted my teenage years and went through a deep depression a few years ago. Now I can’t get those years back, but I hope my adult life will be better; I like to think the worst for me is over, at least when it comes to mental health. I have learnt so much from my parents, I have grown, and there is no reason I won’t keep growing in the future. Life is different for everybody and I sorely wish we all could look forward to aging, but current politics makes it difficult.

This is amazing! Thank you for making this.

I love your attitude too! I see quite a few people here aren’t having the best time in their older years, and that’s ok, I understand - but I will remain positive when it comes to aging nonetheless, despite how the world looks at the moment. I commonly see more women being happier about being 40/50, which gives me hope.

I’m glad you feel better here.

I only have Instagram as a form of social media, though I don’t post anything there. It definitely tears at my self-esteem at times, but I haven’t the heart to delete it because I consume other healthy content there. Only got FB to use Messenger with my parents. I don’t get all this social media hype, I guess; TikTok, Snapchat, etc… not my thing.

I like Lemmy. Like some others said, conversations feel more organic and refreshing. The website is pretty ok, I like the new icons here on Beehaw. I’m looking forward for more niche communities to grow, especially those catered towards specific shows or movies. I think I’ll grow to like this site even more as time progresses, honestly.

iPhone SE 2020 here. The main reason I like Apple is because the designs and sizes suit me better. I find that Samsung phones tend to be too big and focus on camera, rather than battery time (which I personally prioritise). I haven’t checked out other alternatives such as OnePlus, Pixel, Motorola since my parents only purchase either iPhone or Samsung. I think if Apple wasn’t so restrictive (their ecosystem), I would like them better (+their prices going down). It’s difficult finding compact phones that focus on battery time nowadays, as someone who doesn’t care for the camera… I truly wonder what new phone I will get in a few years.
