Do you have a problem?

Yes

Can you do something about it?

I DONT KNOW

P A N I K

So most of the indie devs will not need to pay if they are sub 1MM revenue, and the large players can just throw the weight around and negotiate the fees down? Then who is this fee meant to fleece, the "middle class" devs?

You know what an even better take is? "We hear you, we'll take your feedback" or just as good, say nothing at all.

Arguing that you are smarter or wiser than your users / customers is paradoxical. You are by definition not smart if you attempt to do this.

Simple solution, spend 1 second and decide to consciously ignore guy on internet for the rest of your life.

Works wonders for mental and physical health, zero downsides!

Preach. Not sure why this is so hard for folks to understand.

App development isn't and never has been an one-time done deal. Devs always do the work to fix bugs, add new features / requests, upgrade to new platform / API etc. If they do this for free that is at their will but they are burning their own time / money one way or another. To demand a developer to run their business a certain way and mandate their business model is just mind-blowing to me.

I made this post because I heard people say

Sure you did. You okay bruh?

Speak for yourself. I regularly go out to help old folks buy groceries, volunteer at soup kitchens, and get shitface drunk. Not necessarily in that order.

Looks like Bethesda discovered ChatGPT.

Some of those replies are as bland, hunky-dory and sanitized as can be, with a dash of "you're playing it wrong".

it would be quite nice if humans disappeared from the planet...

"Nice" is a human concept so if all human beings are gone, is it really "nice" and does it matter?

Because Mother Earth don't give a F. Most of what we say about saving the Earth is in the sense of making it sustainably habitable for us humans and not to f up the economy too badly.

Mother Earth don't care if it gets 30 degrees hotter and if the atmosphere turns into sulfuric acid because for the vast majority of its lifetime, it's been human free anyways.

How do you guys cook your fumes?

I crank up all the performance settings and keep Ling's website on 24x7. Nothing makes a more decadent fume than running state-of-the-art portable gaming hardware on shitty web code. Can't beat the high off of Steam Deck engineers' imaginary tears.

...Beeper CEO Eric Migicovsky responded to TechCrunch’s inquiry about Beeper Mini’s status by pointing us to the X post acknowledging the outage, and providing more detail. Asked if possibly Apple found a way to cut off Beeper Mini’s ability to function, he replied, “Yes, all data indicates that.”

Emphasis mine. Source: Techcrunch.

E2EE means it's End-to-End Encrypted. If it's decrypted at any point during transit then it's by definition not E2EE and Beeper shouldn't be making that claim.

The business is about making good games and making money. If Godot can actually support that don't you think devs would've switched to it in droves?

Since it's FOSS I would assume it's got no crazy financial legalese to bleed the devs dry. So it stands to reason that the Godot product is simply not ready. Devs are not stupid, if there is a tech that is better and free they'd switch to it in a heartbeat, or at least put it on the table for the next game.

The fact that they haven't done so says things about Godot itself.

It's a marketing and publicity stunt, kinda like Nothing's fiasco with the Sunbird app. The goal is to get people talking about them and come out looking like the good guy underdog vs Apple. To be fair their plan is probably working judging by how many people are jumping out in front of Beeper and condemning "Big Apple", even though Apple is just doing what any service provider should be doing.

I think that's an strong statement and overreaction on your part, but to that point mass adoption isn't always a good thing.

I find that the content on Tildes are generally more respectful, thoughtful and higher quality. Much better signal to noise ratio. Lemmy does have quality stuff but there is also a lot more low quality / low effort content to wade through. Just look at the state of Showerthoughts / AskLemmy if you are looking for examples.

My personal observation is that people have been fed up for quite a while, not so much by the Instagram app itself but by Meta's brand, their untrustworthiness and the general vapid and scammy nature of the hordes of Influencers and "hustlers". It's just regular folks aren't aware of decent alternatives or the alternatives aren't quite there yet.

It is not anti-woke, which by anti-woke logic means it's woke.

ZUCKERELLA used SLIPPER DROP in the METAVERSE! It's not very effective!

PSA: this feature requires you to opt-in to sending the names of apps on your phone to the developer. You cannot enable the feature without agreeing to send this data.

It was a pretty decent email app developed by Google back in the day. They discontinued it a few years ago and some features made it into the Gmail app, but not all.

But is it though? By definition moderation and adminstration means a certain set of standard and rules to keep the community / site runs well. Tildes simply has their own set of standards that so far I think is working well.

Lemmy has mods too and there are plenty of powertripping drama. Does that make Lemmy elitist? Or less so simply because it allows shitposts and memes?

Question for you since you work in dev. How annoyed do you get when users confuse beta with prod?

OP is flagging a legitimate issue that can actually put instance owners at risk. Raising the issue that instance owners can unwittingly host illegal content and be liable for it - how is that entitled?

Totally understand that Lemmy devs are a small team, but the growth of use of the software is exploding now, and not being able to keep up is a problem of scale - gatekeeping others from raising issues does not help it get better and in fact discourages issue reports and promotes a head-in-the-sand culture.

Users =/= Subscribers. Most of these users are probably not paying users so from a financial perspective it does not hurt Netflix to shed them.

The pickaxe is a better analogy. Unity engine is a tool that devs could leverage to build a great selling game, and the price-per-swing is a nice way to encapsulate the absurdity of Unity's new fee structure.

I bet you the son doesnt even lift.
