You might want to consider a more thorough wiping of your area code next time. It's pretty easy to figure out what it is through the scribbles

I've had an EV as my only vehicle for about 5 years. The biggest cost of maintenance was replacing my tires. Then replacing one of the new tires after I ran over something and put a big hole in one of them.

The regular maintenance on it has been effectively zero. I don't have any fluids to change (other than windshield wiper fluid) or other regular maintenance tasks other than tire related things. My parents have had an EV for something like 8 or 9 years and their experience has been similar.

Myth: software engineers replicate value similar to a factory worker making the same item over and over

Truth: software engineers are closer to artists than factory workers IMO. We find and create new value, not replicate existing value

I once asked ChatGPT to generate some random numerical passwords as I was curious about its capabilities to generate random data. It told me that it couldn't. I asked why it couldn't (I knew why it was resisting but I wanted to see its response) and it promptly gave me a bunch of random numerical passwords.

You're advocating for murder. Consider your choices

CEO decided to lay off a huge portion of the company. Then he had the nerve to have an all-hands saying that the company's financials were great and that they were on track to make $X billion in revenue in some years. Most off the laid off people were still in the fucking call.

That suspect was also handcuffed, not just hanging around.

The MAX series didn't go on its first flight with a customer until 2017. These are practically brand new planes.

A knee pillow. I have always struggled with the occasional back pain because I would sometimes twist my legs/back at night and be in pain the next day(s). A knee pillow has massively changed that for me. I pretty much never have issues with my back caused by sleeping weird now.

In a similar vein, nasal strips. My nose often gets obstructed at night and it caused a ton of sleepless nights because I had a hard time breathing. Finding the strong nasal strips I'm now using pretty much eliminated that problem.

Unfortunately I believe there is a long case history that prevents courts from forcing them to say things as it violates the 1st amendment. Similar to forcing engineers to write code that puts "backdoors" into security systems.

Regenerative braking reduces this need pretty significantly though

Every so often I listen to Lady Gaga. I really like a few of her earlier songs but haven't listened to most of her discography.

I hate that music and gender are somehow connected, but unfortunately that's the world we live in. Anyone who gives me crap for listening to/doing/etc. "girly" things is a person I don't want in my life.

If you think it’s slow, first prove it with a benchmark

So many crimes against maintainability are committed in the name of performance. Optimisation tears down abstractions, exposes internals, and couples tightly. If you’re choosing to shoulder that cost, ensure it is done for good reason.

Probably a bit out of the $50 budget: a massage.

Many times by my mom. Recently in reference to me balding, she said "you look like a <family name>, that's too bad". It was so bad even my dad did a double take.

Incredibly, some of Steam’s early adopter accounts are still actively in use today, a full two decades after their creation.

I don't believe that adults actually exist. Everyone is just an overgrown child who occasionally does things that are perceived as "adulting"

ETA: I used to say this as a joke, but as I get older the more I actually believe it

There are many kinds of grenades with varying explosive power

I just recently updated a database call to return the last 7 days of data instead of all data from all time. It went from taking 30+seconds to around 2-4 seconds. Still a long way to go to make it "good" but at least it's not timing out now.

Congratulations!

GTFO. It has honed a ton of skills for me. Coordination/cooperation, accuracy, ammo conversation, fast problem solving, the ability to switch from fast to slow and back very quickly, the list goes on. It's the most intense game of red light green light I've played.

Bees. I'm not allergic or anything, I just formed an irrational fear of them probably after I was stung on the foot when I was a kid.

My mom doesn't believe in using salt when cooking. She's actually a decent cook but she tends to make somewhat bland food.
