Reminds me how much I hate Apple.

Thanks Google for making Android.

Now please turn the evil knob down a notch and go back being the awesome company you once were.

Edit: typo

Let's just appreciate the fact that basically no other browser has this.

With chrome/ium you can't even block ads.

Probably 100% Mozilla.

The free and open web is so in danger right now.

No ads, ads are evil.

Liquid soap, problem solved.

This resonates so much with me.

I had a similar experience with dongles, but also with some hardware like screwdriver kits.

It seems like the amount of choice we get nowadays is inversely proportional to the quality of the products.

It can become excruciating to shop for the most basic items on Amazon, because most of them are just cheap shit.

That's the price you pay for relocating so much stuff.

I completely agree with you, although:

I thought Lemmy wasn't a wasteland of humanity like reddit was

Never had any hope for that. Humanity is what it is, shitty folks are everywhere, it's statistics.

X Æ A-12

13$ to produce including all the R&D behind it?

I'm not a fan of big pharma, quite the contrary, but I'd be curious to know where this number comes from...

Shower for watering, jet for cleaning.

Android Auto for me

TL;DR: use Firefox

Probably not native. In Italian we also say "autonomia" to indicate battery life or distance you can still cover with the fuel in your tank.

Invest in a solid charger (30-40€ will do). You'll keep it for years, it'll charge an odd number of batteries as well (unlike some cheap ones that only charge in pairs) and it charges just the right amount, then stops. Some even have battery test/discharge function, and charge more than just AA/AAA.

Then invest in a bunch of rechargeables, possibly Eneloops or something good from Amazon.

Now profit for years to come. The planet will thank you as well.

Honestly single use consumer batteries should be banned.

I was accused of being dumb last time I said Israel is a Nazi state. 😌

History repeats itself.

My new hero!

We wholeheartedly invite your valuable input and suggestions, as they play an integral role in our continuous improvement efforts. To facilitate this collaborative approach, we have committed to releasing our source code for public access after reaching a milestone of 350 orders.

Well the way I see it, allowing me to keep getting my fucjing shit done from HOME is possibly THE biggest perk a company can offer to differentiate itself from the moronic ones who don't.

My rule is quite simple.

Open source -> telemetry on

Else -> off

Examples: KDE, Firefox

2600 is dirt cheap even by Euro standards, trust me.

Here in Italy a single room split would cost you around 1k to 2.5-3k depending on the brand.

A whole house system you're probably looking at 10k and then some.

That's genocide at this point, and Israel is a Nazi state.

There, I said it.

I buy aluminum exclusively, no plastic.

Plastic doesn't age well and isn't as recyclable.

I remember getting told off for taking my sick days, as in the days you're entitled to. This no days off, "grindset" culminated in the real moment I realized I had to leave. I purposefully cut my leg open so badly I would have to go to the ER to get it stapled back together. It was genuinely the only way in my mind to take a day off without being harassed for a reason why.

Holy shit that's insane

So what? Of absurdly the whole user base of Spotify got into white noise overnight and ditched music and voice podcasts, where's the problem?

Users still pay for the premium/family subscriptions, and it's only fair that creators of the content most listened to are rewarded proportionally.

Emirates does this, at least on theor A380s.

And as someone said, apart from takeoff and landing, it's pretty boring.

Well look at that, no one seems to mention opensuse/Tumbleweed.

Great sign 👍🏻

Fedora also unscathed.

Two of my favorites, if not my absolute favorites.

LIGHT THEME ALERT!

Put your sunglasses on, folks! 😎

Free returns with Prime? I hope so

I have 3 eSIMs registered on my Pixel 7 Pro at the moment, works fine.

Just keep in mind that most phones only support at most two lines to be active at the same time.

But you can store as many eSIMs as you want* and toggle them on/off according to your needs.

  • quite sure there's a limit but it should be high enough to be irrelevant for most users

I'm also just a normal tech person, so my answers may be inaccurate.

My understanding is:

  1. ARM seems superior in the mobile computing domain where efficiency matters more than raw power. I wonder if that's related to the RISC vs CISC instructions... if that's the case, having an open architecture alternative to ARM would allow any manufacturer to create their CPU designs without having to pay a hefty fee to ARM. Should bring more competition and won't keep manufacturers hostage of ARM. If ARMs raises their royalties 1000x, Apple, Qualcomm etc just have to comply for lack of alternatives, and consumers end up paying the price. This won't be possible with RISC-V
  2. I can definitely see this happening, or at least having the option. OSs and apps will have to build for that new architecture of course, which takes time and money. I'm personally particularly excited about laptops
  3. I guess. I don't think it's ever impossible to do this, it's always a matter of how much of an impact it has on performances

If I said something stupid, please let me know, I'd like to learn about this!

Your single command is just an "&&" away

Connect or Liftoff

I have preordered a framework laptop which will run Linux until it fucking blows up or falls apart.

Enough with being screwed over by well known brands whose interest is just selling you more and more stuff.

Ask that girl out JFC!

Buy new router, connect via Ethernet, disable ISP's router Wifi to avoid radio interference, share wifi access to family member.

Set QoS rules on your new router to get a higher priority/bandwidth for YOUR devices.
