I wonder what the first topic of Mondays meeting at Reddit HQ will be? And if the overall feeling is gonna be positive or negative? Oh I wonder.

Minecraft for the first time! With my 5 y/o who sits on his tablet. It's dangerous for us both.

It does. Play the mode where it does. It also has this mode where all players can be on the same team. How can more options be bad? Just opt to play how it is in the real world if that's what you want.

I hate that we humans are so dumb most of the time. Just let people have choices. Why are female and male characters able to raid together in wow? Why does a female bloodelf maintank have as much HP as a male tauren? Never seen that discussion.

Why do you do it this way? Just add the installer to steam. Install the client. Then add the client, launch and install and play.

Hey Mister! Guess what?! You aren't wrong. And I agree. Carry on.

I've used eneba quite a bit. Even for MMOs. Never an issue. If someone knows it's a bad site, please comment. G2A seems to be the devil.

Yeah this is the point of the topic :) Saying stuff that others might not agree on.

Yeah this would be mine as well, but I would need a small upgrade. To actually remember checking the notes.

There is a card game called Rogue Adventure that I've poured hundreds of hours into over the years. Love it to bits!

Maybe you just like BBC? :) Nothing to be ashamed of. Plenty of people do!

And! Enable wlan and get an app on your phone to power on the decent computer with. Get game streaming working. And now you play the demanding titles on the Deck through your computer in handheld with good graphics and enormous battery life. Also get something like parsec to be able to log on and power off the computer. Never need to sit Infront of it ever again? That's my life :)

Because on the most expensive Steam Deck the screen has anti glare. Anti glare screens have somewhat reduced sharpness. That in itself isn't a problem until you start thinking about a screen protector. Not getting one? Then no issue.

But if you want to protect the screen you start getting in this wierd place with no good choices. A regular screen protector will mess up the anti glare and you get the reduced sharpness on top. And if you get an anti glare screen protector you now have X2 reduced sharpness.

Better going with the mid range Deck, get better inbuilt storage compared to the base version which somewhat matters when you start tweaking the Deck. And now you can buy any screen protector. No headache. On the Deck you can also dedicate disk space into virtual ram which is great. Not so great on my 64gb Deck tho. I would've wanted a 256gb one for that reason alone and now I'm on the fence about buying a 1tb ssd and start opening it up. I wouldn't have bothered if I had a 256gb model.

I have the official dock. Overall satisfied but doesn't work great with the tv downstairs (Philips One). I have to unplug the power every time I want to dock my Deck or I get no picture on the tv.

Super Display only seem to work if you get windows and dual boot. Seems to be 0 Linux support because of hw acceleration. Bummer. Thanks for the tip though!

There are a lot of survival-ish games that use PvPvE. The Battle Royales. Never played one either tbh.

They are way more powerful but makes less use of the power. Also way more expensive most of the time. Valve actually sells the Deck at a loss and hope to get it back on games. It's currently the best value for money.

Had this issue yesterday on Sponge Bob and stumbled upon this setting. Fixed it all. Very nice.

Go for it. It's incredible. Get the middle one. Anti glare doesn't make sense built in. Get a screen protector for that.

Just imagine its Diego Forlan playing and you'll be alright.

Great mention! Will save and watch later!

All I did: Add installer as Steam Game. Press play to install. Add launcher as Steam Game. Press play to open the b.net client and install w/e game you intend to. In both cases also force use of proton experimental or else it won't start.

I bought the same. It's perfect.

Did you get the b.net installer and launcher mixed up? I did the same uphrade just 3 days ago, 1tb upgrade from 64gb. Diablo works fine for me from the new ssd. On my old 64gb I got them mixed up once and it was a headache to sort out.

Streaming your games from your gaming pc to your Deck while at home also makes for better graphics and better battery. Massive difference to battery running Elden Ring natively compare to streaming it. Mostly using it for Diablo 4 myself.

Also some games just feel more right on a handheld. Turn based RPGs for example. Platformers like Celeste or Metroidvanias. Stardew Valley. Heck you can even play World of Warcraft without m+kb. There are add-ons to make binding somewhat like in FFXIV. Plus there is not sub just to play online like on other consoles. You bring all games with you. In my opinion everyone thats a PC gamer and can afford a Deck should have a one.

I've only seen and read tests. Speeds are barely noticable, if at all, from what I've been able to understand.

256 internal with a 512 micro sd should be enough foe most of us.

Go with my mentions then! They are awesome!

Why do you want Windows? Specific game? Most can be installed without Windows.

I don't think it has issues with many games. Plus it doesn't have a monthly fee to play online. I feel this is sooo overlooked. If you use the Deck for three-four years you have essentially gotten it for the same price as a Ps or Xbox sub.

Godly post. Sticky?

Bummer!

Can you clarify what you mean by BBC hanging? Thanks in advance.

Sorry for not sticking to your to options. But. If your brother have a Switch, why not considering a Switch Pro Controller? Works great on PC, on Steam Deck, and of course Switch. I'm loving mine for PC gaming.

Yeah some topics are a bit tough with loads of communities spread across different instances/servers. But overall it's alright.

I still don't know how to go about finding these. I've had so many bad experiences I hardly know what I like anymore. All I "know" is I'm not big on FPS games. But at the same time I loves The Last of Us.

It's hard when we don't know what you have played. My go to recommendation is always Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch if you never played it. It will always hold a special place in my heart. I feel Octopath and Bravely Default are played by 99% of people interested in jrpgs. Chained Echoes should be a good recommendation as well. But you might have played all these.

Both yes and no. You can play all Blizzard games without Windows for example. Pretty much no tinkering required. Just adding installer and battle.net as Steam apps. Done. Pretty sure it's possible on a lot of "windows only" games.

I'm mostly playing Diablo 4, some Steam Games and a little Game Pass. Am I ok on Linux? How is performance compared to windows?

Yes but it requires a certain behave-ability. Everyone who wanna check knows it's me now. It's a bit scary.

Using a Switch Pro Controller myself. Not exactly cheap if you don't have one or own a Switch but in my opinion not a lot can beat it. A joy to use!

Bloodborne is my first Fromsoft game as well. And by far my favourite. The setting, story, everything about the whole game just got under my skin. I love it more than any Zelda game I grew up with. It's wierd. I pretty much can't even get into any other Souls game. I don't like em that much. I can't even complete Elden Ring. But I love me some Bloodborne. Any other game with similar as style?
